Dakota started scrubbing the blood from her hands when she heard a beeping sound just outside the lock-up. She turned her head and her eyes glanced upon Bellamy pressing in the code and when the doors opened, Clarke walked in first.
"Sorry about your arm," Bellamy said insincerely, shooting a glare at Clarke. Dakota resisted the urge to snort, instead she bit down on her tongue as she walked over to stand in-between Bellamy and Clarke.
Roan glanced down at Bellamy's leg, then back at his face. "Makes us even."
"Like it or not, we need each other," Clarke urged, moving to stand in front of Roan. "Cut to the chase, Clarke, you said we wanted the same thing. I want an Ice Nation Commander," Roan interrupted, shifting his gaze towards the blonde.
"And I can give you one," Clarke held up the flame. "with this."
"And why would you do that when you know she's vowed to wipe you out?" He questioned.
"We don't have a choice." Clarke sighed defeated. "This isn't just our war. The enemy we're up against is after everyone, including the Ice Nation. The only way to stop her is to get the information from the Flame, and the only way to do that is to put it in Ontari's head." She explained in detail.
"The Ice Nation isn't afraid."
"You should be." Bellamy stepped forward, earning Roan's attention. "This thing doesn't care what clan you're from. It controls people, and it will take over the Ice Nation just like it took us over, one person at a time until there Is no one left.
"It has Ontari," Dakota muttered quietly, gaining his attention immediately. "I took the chip as well, but my blood effects it differently. I can see her, and I can listen to her."
"I'm listening."
"We need to disconnect her before she gets the Flame, or we'll be giving A.L.I.E. exactly what she wants. To do that, we have to abduct her from the center of the city filled with thousands of people who's minds are linked, all of them thinking as one. Whatever one sees, they all see. Whatever one hears, they all hear," Clarke's voice lightened, realizing he was willing to cooperate.
Roan nodded, "I get it." He looked over at Dakota, "If you're connected, can't Alie hear this conversation?"
"No." Dakota walked over, "I can disconnect her but she's can resist the disconnection if I'm on the urge of death, or I'm vulnerable." Roan looked at her and nodded again before slowly getting to his feet.
"So when do we leave?"
___
The Rover drove through the dark forest in silence, the rain hitting the Rover's hard exterior was the only noise being made. "There it is," Clarke announced. "We stop here."
Dakota let out a weary sigh as the Rover pulled to a stop, and she hopped out of the Rover, tailing behind Clarke as she quickly walked towards the edge of the tree line, looking out over the Capital that laid out before them. "This seems like a bad idea," Dakota muttered as she shook her head.
Clarke turned her head to look over at the girl, and then gave her a discreet shrug. "We don't have a choice, Kota." She weakly smiled and put a hand on her shoulder. Dakota managed to crack a small smile and turned around at the sound of the doors opening, Bellamy got out of the Rover, along with Roan following behind him.
"Alright, this is where we split up," Roan announced, coming to a stop in front of the bright lights of the Rover. "The entrance to the tunnel is right over there."
"Yeah, we know where it is," Bellamy snapped, eyeing him coldly. Dakota rolled her eyes at his childish behavior and walked towards Roan, standing beside him.
"I'm gonna need the flame," Roan stated, turning to Clarke. Dakota and Clarke eyed him nervously. "Look, this only works if they send Ontari out to get it. If they don't see it they won't do that." He ran his hand through his hair. "Not much of a trap, without the bait."
Clarke's eyes glanced over to Dakota for her approving nod, and the brunette gave her an encouraging nod. The plan was risky, loosing the flame or capturing Ontari was a fifty-fifty chance, and they needed to take that. "Fine," She paused, eyeing the flame, clearly reluctant to hand it over, "But I'm coming with you."
"No way," Bellamy cut in, holding his hand out between them. "That was not the plan."0
"It is now," Clarke stated, turning her head toward him and looking into his eyes. "I'm not letting that out of my sight." she nodded towards the flame. "And I'm the only one who knows the pass-phrase, so you can tell them that without me, Ontari can't ascend."
After taking a moment to consider it, Roan nodded. "You'll need to look like my prisoner."
"Okay."
"Wait a second," Bellamy stepped between them, shaking his head. "Give us a minute." He turned to Roan, who looked over at Clarke with a odd expression on his face.
Dakota glanced at Roan who backed away from the couple, and she nodded over at Clarke before walking towards the Rover and leaning against the front with her elbows on the hood of the Rover.
The back and forth bickering of Clarke and Bellamy could be heard in the silence of the whistling forest, and the small gusts of wind flew through the air, making Dakota's soft curls dance. Eventually, the arguing stopped and Dakota felt footsteps come up behind her and she didn't need to turn around to confirm that Bellamy was standing behind her.
"You know," She muttered, leaning her head up to turn and look at him. "I'm all done with hating you. It's all washed out of me." Dakota turned to look over at Bellamy, who looked at her in surprise of her confession. "I hate people hard, but I don't hate them very long." She managed to smile at him when he let a tiny chuckle past his lips and fill the air with the tiny bit of hope Bellamy still had that they would go back to how things used to be for them.
Dakota broke the silence that stood still between them and lifted her hand to mess up his already disheveled brown curls. He looked at her with a mischievous glint in his eyes as he backed away from her playful gesture, "You ready to go kill A.L.I.E.?" She asked him with a small smirk.
_________
The small group ran through the dark tunnels under an Ice Nation controlled Polis. Dakota followed behind Bellamy silently, with only Bellamy whispering for people to hurry up and go. He lead the group, rifle raised hot and his flashlight on, illuminating the dark passage ahead.
"This is it," Bellamy whispered, loud enough for the whole group to hear when they rounded a corner, reaching a room with small windows, perfect sniper windows.
"Get these grates open," He instructed Miller and Bryan as Dakota began uniting her coat to get a better hold of her knives just in case she needed them quickly. Bellamy glanced over at the girl with a small frown on his face. "A sniper rifle would be more efficient,"
Dakota rolled her eyes in annoyance, "It may be, but their a little noisier. This is more quiet." She glanced up at his face, which fell. Dakota's expression turned sour and she pulled out her handgun that she kept tucked on her thigh and loaded it. "I still use a gun, Bellamy."
"And that's quieter than the rifle?" Bellamy raised his eyebrows at the lack of a silencer on the barrel. Dakota wiggled her eyebrows before reaching in her pack and taking out a silencer, "I come prepared." She winked over at him as she installed it on the barrel.
Bellamy turned his head towards the windows with a smile on his face, "Let's get ready," He aimed his gun and looked through the lens.
"Are we ever gonna be done fighting?" Bryan asked Miller quietly as they readied their guns.
"Hell yes," Miller grinned, "we're gonna build a house on a lake and you're gonna plant corn."
Bryan laughed at the nice thought, "and raise chickens."
Dakota glanced over at Octavia to see her looking over at the wall with a sorrowful look on her face, and she immediately knew she was thinking of Lincoln, and how she could never have that with him now.
"Yeah, and grow old," Miller finished off their fantasy. Bellamy looked over at them before glancing over at Dakota, who swiftly averted her gaze.
Bellamy looked towards the ground, feeling slightly hurt of the awkwardness that now surrounded the two leaders. He understood though, he knew that she had never fully forgiven him yet. But there was also the thought that he didn't even know if she wanted to get married, or have kids.
"11 o'clock," Bellamy announced once he saw Roan walking into Polis with Clarke. "Roan will signal when he sees Ontari. We wait until she's standing in front of them and then we launch the gas." Bellamy reminded them of the plan.
"They're gonna be holding their breath, so we got to move fast," Bryan said as he tossed the group the gas masks that he had packed.
"Anyone who gets in our way, we use non-lethal force. These people are not the enemy. They're being controlled. The only thing we're here to kill is Alie." Dakota turned her head to skim over everyone, making sure they were listening to what she was saying. "Is that clear?"
Octavia nodded, not moving her gaze away from the window. "Clear."
"Clear." Bryan and Miller both nodded, understanding the plan.
"Good," Dakota muttered before turning her attention towards the window and watched as Clarke and Roan slowly moved into the center of Polis where no more than eight people sat on their knees, their eyes closed and hands folded in their laps.
Bellamy flashed the light on the end of his rifle to signal Clarke and Roan that they were in position. Dakota watched as Roan leaned into Clarke, whispering something before he spoke.
"I am Roan, King of Azgeda and I have what the Commander seeks," Roan proclaimed, holding up the flame. Everyone around them rose to their feet. "I don't like what I'm sensing, so if she wants it, she can come to me."
Everyone held their breath, waiting for something to happen. That was when three figures came out from the building, one in the front and the other two, following behind him.
"It's Jaha," Bellamy announced to the others.
"Of course it is," Dakota muttered distastefully. This mess was, after all, all Jaha's fault.
"What the hell is he doing here?" Octavia sneered.
"You see Ontari?" Nate asked, approaching the window hesitantly.
"No. Hold," Bellamy replied, sparing him a glance. Jaha spoke to Roan and Clarke for a moment, but the hiding heroes were unable to hear what was said, unlike when Roan was screaming.
It was when Dakota saw Clarke's worried gaze turn towards the them that she immediately knew things weren't going as planned.
Bellamy also picked up the realization. "Something's wrong." The controlled grounders started surrounding and enclosing Clarke and Roan when Roan quickly pulled the blonde into his grasp and pressed a blade against her neck.
"Do it. Do it now!" He signaled the others but it was too late as voices began screaming behind them, they had been found.
"On your knees! Drop your weapon! Blake, Kane, against the wall. Drop it. Turn around!" Dakota was slammed against the wall, the butt of the guards rifle was forced into the small of her back, making her yelp out. Her sword was yanked out of it's scabbard by one of the guards and thrown on the floor.
Dakota watched through the window as Roan released Clarke and both of them attempted to escape, only to be stopped by a gun that was aimed at Roan's chest. Dakota's eyes had widened in disbelief when she saw who blocking their escape route. "Oh my god.." Dakota whimpered as her mouth flew open and tears started to blur her vision. The hand holding the gun belonged to none other than her father; Marcus Kane.
Her eyes hardened as she watched her father pull the trigger without a second thought, shooting Roan in the chest.
Dakota had a horrified expression on her face as she started to fight against the guards that were holding her still against the wall. "No!" She almost screamed out, but bit down on her lip to silence the horror in her voice as she watched as they picked up Roan roughly and dragged him away. Two more of Jaha's guards had grabbed Clarke and started to drag her away as she fought against them. Dakota glanced over at Bellamy who stared back at her with concern as the guards started to search each of them, grabbing all of the weapons and removing it from their beings.
Jaha's guards had each of them handcuffed and kneeling down in the dark tunnel as they stood around them, keeping guard and making sure none of them attempted to escape.
The man who seemed to be in charge was currently punching Miller relentlessly, but no matter how much they wanted to help him, they couldn't. Suddenly the man stopped and straightened his posture. It was as if someone had told him something more important needed to be done.
"Let's go. She wants Dakota."
Dakota brow furrowed, "I'm already chipped, why would she want me?" She murmured before being yanked to her feet by two of the guards. "I have no use for her,"
"You haven't submitted, and you still can."
"No, wait!" Bellamy screamed, more alert than ever. He didn't want them to take her and make her submit to A.L.I.E. He couldn't lose her. "Take me instead, please!" Bellamy made a move to stand but the swift movement of a gun that now aimed directly at his head made him freeze on the spot.
Octavia, on the other hand, did manage to stand up, "where are you taking her?" The answer to her question was an elbow to the stomach.
Dakota struggled against their hold as Octavia grunted out in pain. "No! Leave her alone! I'll do it! I'll go!" Dakota pleaded, "Just don't hurt them." Her voice trembled at the end as her eyes locked onto Bellamy's scared ones. "It's okay," She whispered after realizing that this could possibly be the last time she saw her friends as her actual self. The guards yanked her towards them as they started to walk forwards.
"You know, if I were you, I'd hit the deck," a familiar voice warned. Another guard came up beside Dakota with a flashlight and shined it upon the person in question.
"Murphy?"
Dakota eyes lit up at the face of the person that she had almost forgotten. She felt tears start to spring up into her eyes as she tried to memorize every facial feature of him before realizing what he has said in the first place. "Everyone hit the ground!" She screamed, elbowing one of the guards in the chest hard and hitting the floor.
Gun fire erupted above them and Dakota closed her eyes as she felt someone fall from beside her and then the gunfire stopped. Dakota looked over at the fallen soldiers and got up to her feet when Murphy had grabbed her hands and cut the rope that bounded them.
Dakota jumped up into the boys arms and smiled into his neck. "John.." She whispered and Murphy let out a small chuckle of happiness of the familiarity of what felt like home. "Fancy meeting you here," Murphy said as he tightened his hold against the girl and lifted her off the ground. Dakota turned her head up to see Indra approaching them and her eyes had darkened when they had landed on Pike.
"More will come. We have to hurry," Indra instructed as she walked past to free Octavia from her bounds.
"What are you doing here?" Bellamy asked from behind them, and Dakota pulled herself from Murphy to look over at a certain person who she had never seen before.
Dakota looked over at Indra, "Who's that?" She asked, glancing over at the black-haired Grounder.
The girl came out of the darkness and her green eyes landed on Dakota. Her stride matched the way her expression had hardened; almost dangerous. "You must be the infamous Shadow Warrior I've been hearing so much about,"
Dakota looked at her with uncertainty until the girl came into the light and the scars that littered her face immediately told her which clan she was from. "Ice Nation," She breathed. The Azgeda warrior looked at her with an amused expression and slowly nodded her head.
"You're with Pike?" Dakota heard Octavia hiss behind her as Indra helped her to her feet.
"Only way we get out of here is together," Indra replied very diplomatically.
"He killed Lincoln," Octavia growled. Indra turned her gaze on Pike, shock and loathing filling her dark gaze. "Put him on his knees. Shot him in the head," Octavia told her former mentor.
"O. Indra's right. We need every fighter we can get," Bellamy told his sister.
"Did you guys miss the part where it's time to go?" Murphy inquired, wishing that they would hurry up.
"We're not leaving," Dakota took her eyes off the mysterious Azgeda warrior to look at Murphy, who was looking at everyone in annoyance.
"We just saved your lives. Why do I think I'm gonna regret that?" Murphy asked her with a sigh.
"Clarke is in trouble," Bellamy told him, stepping forward.
"Clarke's always in trouble," he replied.
"They took her and the Flame to the tower. It's a safe bet Ontari's gonna be there to. Everything we need to deactivate this bitch is in one room." Dakota said confidently.
Octavia shook her head at the girl's plan. "If we go up that tower, we won't be able to fight our way out again," She tried to reason with her.
"If we stop Alie, we won't have to," Bellamy argued, coming to stand next to Dakota's side, glancing over at her to show that he had her support on the plan.
Dakota turned back to Murphy, her eyes starting to plead. "John.. you said you would do anything for me.. and I need you right now to help get our friends out of this mess.."
Murphy started to contemplate her words, he was taken by surprise as she remembered his promise that they had made as kids. John looked over at the girl's glossy eyes and how they widened in hopes that he would help her. He sighed, "up the tower. Great. You know, after this doing the right thing can kiss my ass," Murphy walked towards the girl and placed a kiss on her forehead. "The things I do for you.." He whispered and Dakota placed a smile on her face.
Pike handed Bellamy a gun and he took it as he moved past the group to the guards who had taken their weapons. Pike glanced over at Dakota who had pulled herself from Murphy. "You make him a better man," Pike smiled over at her.
Dakota caught his eye and frowned at him. "No." She shook her head. "It's both ways, and it's always been like that." She pushed past him to grab her weapons that Bellamy handed to her. "Don't you think for one moment that I'll ever forgive you just because you're helping us." She stuffed her last knife into her jacket and turned to face the man she hated with a passion.
"Octavia and I will get our revenge on what you did." Her eyes flared with fire as she stepped dangerously closer towards him, and Bellamy walked over to hold her back. "I never break my promises, and you best believe that when this is all over with," Dakota looked over at Octavia who stared back at her with a proud look on her face.
"I'll drag you to hell," She said and spat in his face before turning and walking towards Murphy who had a smirk on his face.
"You got on her bad side," Murphy smirked at him. "That's not a good idea." Pike glanced over at him as he wiped the saliva off of his cheek.
_______________
There was a creaking sound in the distance as they approached the elevator shaft. Bellamy and Dakota led the way, stopping at a corner to glance around it.
At the end of the hall were two tired looking Grounders who were pushing the dial that worked the elevator around. Dakota watched them as they stopped for a moment to take breather from the hard work that they were doing. Bellamy had noticed that this was an opportunity to strike as their guards were down and he nodded to Pike. Pike fired two shots, both planting in each Grounder and killing them.
"What the fuck are you-" Dakota started to argue but Bellamy had the same idea as he started to yell. "I told you, that is not how we're doing this."
"They were in our way," Pike answered coldly.
"They are innocent people who are being controlled by an AI," Dakota spat, already regretting letting Pike help them.
"There's gonna be a lot more of these people if we don't move." Miller ushered them towards the elevator, while Dakota glared over to Pike and held her sword out.
"I'll bring it down," Indra offered, pulling the lever.
"Once we're up, you blow the elevator and then climb," Bellamy went over the plan.
"Destroy the ladder behind us," Bryan finished with a nod. "On it."
"Come on," Murphy groaned. "You do realize we don't have a way down, right?"
"A problem for another day," Indra shrugged him off and Dakota saw as the elevator touched down.
"Let's go. Our ride's here," Bellamy said, grabbing Murphy's attention and he walked over to open the door while Bellamy and the rest kept guard.
Bellamy and Murphy stepped inside the elevator, waiting for Octavia or Dakota to move and come on with them. "Coming O?" Bellamy asked.
"If anything goes wrong down here, they'll need my help. We got this," she assured her brother.
Dakota nodded and started walking past Octavia and hopped onto the elevator. "Guess, I'm riding with you guys," She muttered as Octavia began to close the doors behind her.
"You get that we're screwed, right? Alie already knows we're coming," Murphy said, his voice low.
"This plan will work," Bellamy insisted, sounding like he was trying to convince himself of that. "Why are you here?" he asked Murphy after a moment of silence.
Dakota was a bit curious about that as much as Bellamy was. She knew that Murphy wouldn't willingly put himself in great danger unless he wanted something. Dakota turned her gaze on Murphy and waited for his reply.
"I'm just trying to survive," Murphy replied. But Dakota knew those words were a lie by the tone in his voice and they way his eyes narrowed. Murphy glanced at the two leaders, seeing the disbelief in their eyes. "You're not the only one here trying to save someone you care about," Murphy muttered, rolling his eyes at them both.
Dakota looked taken back at his confession and held her hand up to her mouth in a playful matter. "You've replaced me, John Murphy?" She said as she placed a sad filled look on her face.
Murphy looked over at her with a small smile and grabbed onto her shoulder to pull her into his side. "Replace you?" He looked down at her. "Never," He smiled and Dakota looked up at him.
"She's a lucky girl, whoever she is," Dakota smiled up at him when he removed his arm from her waist. Unfortunately for them, the lift came to a sudden halt. "Well, that's not good." Murphy grumbled as Dakota pulled her sword out from its scabbard and got into a ready position.
Whatever was on the other side of the elevator, started slamming into the elevator doors and Bellamy started to tug the doors back closed when the Grounders on the other side started to pry the door open. "Murphy, get that baton ready," Bellamy called as the door opened a foot.
Murphy pulled out his lashing baton and started it up. "Shock him, Murphy!" Murphy lurched forward and shocked every person that tried to get into the elevator, but once the grounder fell, another one took his place.
A man reached into the elevator and grabbed Bellamy, pulling his upper body out of the Elevator. "Murphy!" Bellamy shouted and Dakota pushed Murphy aside and let out a forceful kick to one of the guys that were trying to get in. Murphy shocked the man that held Bellamy, and he was kicked back into the elevator, making Dakota collide with Bellamy and falling over onto the floor.
Bellamy caught himself on the half-opened doors and he kicked the last man as he approached and he began to close the doors. Another Grounder appeared and Dakota jumped up, helping Bellamy push the doors closed, but the Grounder was strong.
Dakota spat at the Grounders face and he blinked back as Dakota's skull smashed up against his which earned some distance. The Grounder's hands slipped from the closing doors and Dakota sent a flying kick in his way, sending him to the floor with the others as Murphy's shock baton shocked him.
But with another Grounder down, two more replaced him and one of them managed to break through the doors and jumped into the elevator after Murphy. He landed on top of him and started to choke him. Dakota kicked the last Grounder that was trying to pry open the door and he launched backwards into the wall. Dakota managed to close the elevator door just as it started to move upwards again.
Dakota immediately turned her attention to the man that was choking Murphy to death. She grabbed onto his shoulder and punched him in the face before his knee collided with her ribs. She grunted in pain and Bellamy stepped forward, launching a counter attack.
The man pushed Bellamy into the corner and started punching him, but Murphy got up and tried to push the man away. He slammed the man into the wall and held him there, letting the man punch his sides. Dakota launched forwards and punched the man's face repeatedly. His foot swept out, knocking Dakota off her feet.
"Shoot him! Shoot him, Bellamy!" Murphy shouted as the guard went for Murphy's throat.
Bellamy grabbed his handgun and aimed it at the guy's head, but he hesitated with his finger on the trigger, but after a moment he shot the man in the skull and Murphy dropped to the floor, gasping for breath.
Dakota got up to a sitting position and wiped at her bleeding nose before looking over at Murphy. "Thank you," Murphy looked up at Bellamy who had his hand extended to help him to his feet.
"We're almost at the top. We should climb onto the roof now." Dakota suggested as she looked up at the ceiling.
Murphy looked over and furrowed at the black blood that was leaking from her noise. "How do you have Nightblood?"
"Murphy, we don't have time," Dakota shook her head at him, "I'll explain later, but right now we need to save everyone." She looked over to Bellamy who nodded in agreement and locked his hands together, getting ready to give her a boost.
She put her foot on his hand and steadied herself by putting her hand on his shoulder. He nodded and hoisted her up and she slid the door open, and grabbed onto the panels, lifting herself up onto the roof before reaching down to grab Murphy's hands and help him up next.
Once the three of them reached the top of the elevator, Dakota quickly replaced the panel as she heard the elevator doors open below her. All of them put on their gas masks before Murphy handed Bellamy a smoke grenade.
Bellamy took one and pulled the pin when confused voices were heard from below. He tossed it down into the elevator, letting the red gas fill the air and then the sounds of choking and gasping filled Dakota's ears.
Jumping down, Murphy took the lead, having been in the tower the longest. Dakota was the second person to descend from the top of the elevator and Bellamy followed behind her. "Throne room is this way," Dakota gestured to the opposite hallway that Bellamy was facing, they moved through the smoke until the air was clear.
Once they reached the throne room, Dakota removed her mask and took out her sword, getting ready to fight whatever was going to stop them in the room. Clarke's scream filled Dakota's ears and Dakota kicked the door open, but nothing prepared her for what her eyes laid upon.
"Bellamy, stop him!" Clarke shouted when she heard the door being kicked open.
Bellamy aimed for Jaha's hand and pulled the trigger. Dakota's eyes quickly landed on Abby, who was hanging from a noose.
"Abby!" She gasped and wasted no time rushing over to Clarke's mother. Murphy followed behind her, lifting Abby's body to loosen the pressure and Dakota climbed onto the barrel and started to saw away the rope with her sword. Abby was eventually freed and Murphy caught her before falling to the floor.
Dakota leaped off the barrel and was quick to remove the rope from her neck and place her fingers on the women's neck to check if she was breathing. "Is she alive? Is she breathing?" Clarke's worried cries filled the girl's ears.
Dakota looked back at her, "It's okay. She's breathing," Clarke let out a sigh of relief before turning to Bellamy. "Jaha had the Flame. Get it!" She told Bellamy and he nodded and ran over to Jaha while Clarke ran over to grab a small kit and then ran to Ontari's side.
"We cannot let Ontari die. We have to stop the bleeding," She said as she crouched down beside the unconscious Nightblood. "I got the flame," Bellamy called out as Dakota rushed over to Clarke and Ontari who was on the floor in a puddle of her own blood.
Dakota crouched down and put two fingers on the girls neck, feeling her pulse. She glanced up at Clarke who awaited for her answer. "Ontari's pulse is wreak but she's alive."
Clarke handed Murphy a rag, "Here, hold this to the wound." She told him as Dakota was handed the flame. Dakota looked down at Ontari, but even she knew that there was nothing else they could do for her. She had lost to much blood.
"Come on, what are you gonna do?" Murphy asked, thinking they were wasting their time. The girl had a deep head wound, her chances of living weren't very high.
"I need a flashlight," Clarke was beginning to panic.
Bellamy decided to fill Murphy in on what they were actually doing. "First, we take out the chip. Then we put in the Flame."
Finally, Clarke had found the flashlight and lifted one of Ontari's eyelids and shone the light into her eye. "Her pupils are unresponsive," Clarke told them and Dakota sighed out in defeat.
"What does that mean?" Murphy asked, looking between the two girls.
Dakota sat back on her knees, looking down at Ontari. "She's brain dead." She informed Murphy, running her hand through her hair.
"She can't give us the kill code. It's over," Clarke nearly sobbed.
"We're trapped here," Murphy realized just how terrible their current situation was.
