Dakota sighed and slumped back into her seat as her head was throbbing. The group were currently in the Rover with Bellamy driving and Dakota in the passenger's seat beside him and everyone huddled in the back, listening to Raven.

"Becca's journal is amazing," Raven gushed as she read through the journal's contents. "At 26, she found a pathway to access a human mind. That same year, she had to lock up Alie because her answer for what was wrong with the world was too many people. She was 27 when it launched the bombs." Raven continued.

"What did she write about the flame?" Clarke asked, wanting to know more about the only thing that could save everyone.

"A.L.I.E. 2.0. She saw it as a way to atone her for her sins. She designed it to not just access a human mind, but to merge with one. It could never wipe us out because it would be one of us. She even put it in herself first, altered her genes so her body wouldn't reject the implant." Raven answered.

"Bekka Pramheda. The first commander," Clarke told her. "The gene therapy made her blood black, didn't it?"

Raven frowned, looking confused. "Yeah," She replied, the surprise evident in her voice.

"How did you know that?" Octavia inquired, her tone distasteful.

"Nightblood. That's where it came from. Somehow it became hereditary. Luna has it, Dakota has it. That's why we have to find Luna, if she can access Alie 2-"

"Why can't we just stick it in Dakota's head-" Octavia questioned, but was cut off with Dakota turning around, shocking everyone with her black blood pouring out of her nose.

"Because Dakota is having troubles with Alie 1." Dakota shot back as she wiped at her chin, smearing the black all over her face. "Until this chip is out of my head, I'm no candidate for that chip." She pointed over towards the chip in Monty's hands. "Luna can tell us how to stop Alie 1."

"Bekka Pramheda gets her second shot at atonement," Sinclair finished.

"Get back to the mind pathway," Monty muttered, staring at the chip in his hand. "If A.L.I.E. uses it to upload our minds to the City of Light, then there's a chance my mom's still alive."

"That depends on your definition of alive." Monty looked down sadly while Jasper casted a look of concern towards his friend.

Bellamy could hear a light, constant tapping noise coming from beside him. He looked over and noticed that Dakota was convulsing in her seat. "Clarke," Bellamy said in a panicked voice, "Dakota is convulsing,"

In a beat, Clarke was up and in front of Dakota as the blonde held her head in place to avoid her banging it. "This is the second time today," Clarke said worriedly. "Sinclair, hand me some bandages." Clarke instructed him and grabbed them from his hand and started to wipe away the blood that poured out of her nose but once Dakota had stopped shaking, Clarke noticed something silver coming out of her right nostril.

"What is that?" Bellamy asked, gaining everyone's attention.

"It's a piece of the chip," Clarke shook her head.

"Can't you just take it out of her head, like you done to Raven?" Jasper asked.

"We could, but right now Dakota is our only 'inside' person that is keeping tabs on Alie without her knowledge." Clarke looked back at Jasper. "That chip in her neck is useful."

"Eyes sharp. Weapons hot." Bellamy warned the others as they started to get closer to Arkadia. "We're almost home." He picked up the radio and held it to his lips. "Miller, come in." They only received static in return. "Harper, you there? Ride's two minutes out."

"Good start," Jasper murmured sarcastically.

Bellamy parked the Rover just inside the tree line, "She's waking up," Clarke called out to everyone when Bellamy opened the passenger's side door and Clarke jumped out.

"Did you start the fun without me?" Dakota's eyes fluttered open, but the sun only blinded her vision. Bellamy smiled slightly at her words. "Not yet, can you walk?"

Dakota leaned her head back in her seat and blinked a couple times before attempting to get out of the Rover, Bellamy had grabbed onto her arm but she had yanked it back from his grip with a small glare. Her boots touched the ground and she walked toward and grabbed her sword from it's scabbard. "Of course I can walk. I'm not crippled." Dakota shot back as Monty helped Raven get into the passenger's seat and Monty started to drive the Rover, while Jasper aimed his gun outside the sunroof.

"We left two days ago," Clarke mentioned upon seeing the front gate, still completely destroyed. "Why haven't they fixed the gate?" Clarke asked.

"Maybe because there's no one here to fix it," Jasper told her.

"It's like a ghost town," Raven said quietly, wondering where everyone was.

"Miller, where the hell are you?" Bellamy growled into the radio. "I don't like this."

Dakota's eyes were hot on everything as she held out her sword in front of her cautiously. "It's too quiet, even if they were planning to attack, they would've done it by now."

"Maybe they got chipped," Jasper offered as an explanation.

"If they got chipped, they'd have been waiting for us at the cave." Bellamy dismissed the idea.

"Maybe they saw the open gate, went in for Lincoln's book."

"Maybe you should stop saying 'Maybe'." Octavia quipped, growing annoyed with Jasper's constant use of the word.

Clarke's blue eyes searched the area, but really, no one was here. "If they are chipped, Alie already knows we're coming," Everyone stopped in the middle of the camp, while Octavia stared down at the mud puddle where Lincoln's blood still stained the water. She had a sad and distressed look on her face. Dakota walked over to her friend and put her hand on the girl's shoulder, "Stay strong," Dakota spoke which made Octavia look back at her with a hint of a small smile.

"Let's get his book and get the hell out of here," She said, tearing her eyes away from the blood puddle.

"That's a plan I can support," Jasper muttered. Octavia walked off in a hurry, making Clarke look over at Bellamy in question.

Dakota's eyes softened as she remembered having the grand front seat at seeing the execution. She looked back at Clarke with a frown. "Lincoln," She said quietly and started to walk towards Octavia.

Bellamy didn't say anything, only swallowed harshly before walking forward to slam his hand down on the Rover to make Monty drive forward.

The group entered the Ark, which was just as deserted as the outside was. "Close it up," Bellamy called out his orders, "turn the Rover around. We may need to get out of here quickly." The gate behind them closed quickly and Dakota's eyes began to observe the place.

It was dark and silent and plates of uneaten food were left on the tables. "It's just like they got up and walked away," Clarke mumbled in confusion.

"They got everyone they needed here, and then they left to chip more," Dakota muttered to herself.

Bellamy came up behind her and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. Dakota looked up at him and for a moment there, she welcomed his hand to comfort her. "We're in and out. Pack as much gear as you can into the Rover."

"I'll get the map," Octavia insisted, leaving immediately with no room to argue.

"I'll, uh, go with her," Jasper stammered, a little freaked out by being in an abandoned camp. "No one should be alone," He reasoned.

"You don't want to load gear, huh?" Sinclair guessed with a slight smirk.

"Not even a little," Jasper answered honestly.

"What's the rush? They won't be coming back," Raven asked, confused.

Clarke frowned. "How do you know?"

"A.L.I.E.'s mission is to chip everyone." Dakota told them, bringing her eyes back onto Clarke. "It wouldn't make sense to return to a place that she already took."

"Might make sense if there were someone in that place..." Sinclair interrupted the conversation, "I.E., you two-- who could tell us stuff like that."

"Good point," Raven pointed at him, nodding her head. "Let's load gear."

Dakota took off in a different direction than everyone else and Bellamy had seen her leave, and called out to her. "Dakota, that's not the direction of the supplies."

"No it's not, but it is the direction of the armoury." Dakota glanced over at him which made Bellamy nod. "I'm coming with you,"

Dakota snorted. "I can handle this on my own," She stopped walking to fully face Bellamy, who had crossed his arms and looked down at her with a stern expression.

"And who's going to help you when you get a seizure? We don't know if there are people in this camp." Bellamy tried to reason with her which made the girl roll her eyes and turn back around.

"Don't fall behind then," She called out to him and kept her sword in front of her.

When they reached the Armoury, Bellamy kicked the door in and aimed his gun in front of him just in case someone was in there. Luckily, it was just as empty as the rest of the camp.

"What if they took all the ammo?" Dakota asked, her eyes darting around the place.

"Then we're screwed," Bellamy answered, opening the cupboard door and pulling out one of the drawers. Dakota snorted. "Thanks for sugar-coating it." She opened up one of the weapon lockers to find rifles stacked up.

"Dakota," Bellamy called out which made the girl turn her head to look back at Bellamy. He had a smile in his face, and then her eyes trailed down to the drawer in his hands. Dakota closed the locker behind her and walked over to grab one of the bullets. "They really just got up and left.." She said as she shook her head, not fully believing it all.

Bellamy pulled out his radio. "Everyone finish what you're doing. Meet at the Armoury."

"Why? What's going on?" Clarke's worried voice echoed back through the radio.

"You'll see when you get here. We just got lucky."

"On our way."

_____________

"It's been 5 minutes." Dakota looked over at Bellamy as she wiped at her bleeding nose. "They're taking too long." She noted, worrying about her friends.

Bellamy ripped a cloth from inside his jacket and passed it over to her. "I'm sure it's nothing," He tired to reassure her, but Dakota wasn't buying it. "Why did you take the chip?" Bellamy suddenly asked her which made Dakota stop wiping her nose and look at him. "You knew what it did to Raven and you did it anyways despite the risks."

Dakota rolled her eyes. "Yeah, and look where that got me." Dakota pointed at the black blood oozing out of her nose. "Now everyone knows I'm a Nightblood."

"You're avoiding the question." Bellamy put his hands on his hips, waiting for her to explain.

Dakota sighed. " I didn't want to be broken anymore." She shook her head. "I was promised to be pain free, I just wanted to be made whole." Dakota turned around as tears started to flood her vision and she looked up, trying to blink them away. She felt Bellamy touch her shoulder which only made her flinch. "I- I'm gonna look for Clarke." Dakota pulled away from Bellamy's touch and walked out the door.

"Dakota, wait!" Bellamy shouted after her, following close behind.

Dakota stopped in the middle of the courtyard, allowing Bellamy to catch up with her. She looked around the place until she heard a cough. "Bellamy!" Clarke's strained voice called out, making Bellamy and Dakota turn at the sound. The blonde was stumbling towards them.

"Clarke? What is it?" Bellamy questioned, catching her as she fell into his arms. Clarke panted heavily as she looked up at Dakota who walked towards her. "Emerson."

Dakota shared an annoyed glance with Bellamy before muttering dryly, "God, this guy has like nine lives."

_______

Dakota, Bellamy, and Clarke walked through the hallways cautiously. Dakota kept her sword out in front of her as her silent feet trailed through the hallways. "Where's Monty?" Bellamy asked, holding his gun out in front of him.

Clarke looked around, swallowing nervously. "Emerson took him." Clarke looked behind her, trying to find the reason of why they would take him. "Why?" She questioned.

Dakota knew exactly why. They needed leverage, and they got it.

Bellamy came to a stop and decided to try to get ahold of the others through the radio. "Octavia, can you hear me? Come in."

"Jasper was with her," Clarke informed him.

"Jasper, are you there? Say something."

Distraught was written all over Clarke's face as static came through the radio. "Miller, Harper, Bryan. This is all my fault. I let Emerson live," Clarke said quietly, looking at the ground.

'What are you talking about?" Bellamy asked, putting down his radio.

"In Polis, Dakota and I had the chance to kill him, and after Dakota left for Arkadia I let him go," Clarke answered, distraught.

Dakota sighed and rubbed Clarke's shoulder in comfort, "You always do what you think is the right thing, Clarke. You're not a murderer." She said gently.

"Bellamy, what's wrong?" Raven's voice broke out through the radio.

"Raven, are you okay? Where are you?"

"Still in engineering. We're fine." Clarke grabbed the radio from Bellamy's hand. "Raven, listen to me. Emerson is here. Are the others with you?"

"Negative. Just Sinclair. Mount Weather Emerson?"

"Yes. Ok, lock down the hangar bay. Don't let anyone in but us."

The trio started running down the halls of the Ark, until Raven's voice yelled through the radio. "He cut the power! You have to do it manually!"

"Raven!" Dakota called out as she banged on the door, but it was locked. "The outer door." Clarke looked over in panic and Bellamy nodded. When they reached the outer door, everything was silent.

"Raven? Sinclair? Raven?" Bellamy called out, trying to keep his voice down. "After me," He told the girls behind him and slipped through the door.

"Oh my god," Dakota whispered as her eyes found the body of Sinclair. Dakota was quick to kneel by his side and check his pulse. All hope that she had, had completely crumbled when her fingers felt nothing. Dakota shook her head as tears filled her eyes. "Jus drein, Jus daun."

Bellamy looked down at the brunette as her fingers gently closed Sinclair's eyes. "We're too late."

Clarke shook her head, refusing to believe that. "No, we're not. He didn't kill Monty or Raven. He would of left their bodies," She argued, making Dakota eyes light up slightly. "He took them somewhere."

"Clarke, if you don't kill him. I will." Dakota stood up from Sinclair's body and pulled her sword from it's scabbard.

"If you're right, Octavia and the others are there, too." Bellamy replied.

"Where would they be talking them?"

"It could be anywhere. Does he even know his way around?" He asked.

"He was here." Dakota told him. "You were in Mount Weather." And then it hit Clarke of where he could be. "The Airlock." Clarke breathed, looking over at Dakota.

Clarke grabbed the radio, "Emerson, I know you're listening. We need to talk."

"I don't need to do anything," He answered. "You should've killed me when you and Dakota had the chance."

"And now you're here to kill me. Is that it?"

"Something like that."

"Then let my friends go. Do that and you can have me." Dakota looked over at Clarke like she was crazy. "You're brave, Clarke. I'll give you that. They're lucky to have a friend like you. Come to the airlock, no weapons, right now."

Dakota looked over at Bellamy and started walking backwards, slipping away from them and started walking towards the airlock. She covered her hair with her hood and stuck to the shadows. The halls were dark, no light in sight. When the airlock came into view, Dakota stuck to the walls as she slowly started to move closer towards them. Her eyes widened at the sight at everyone tied up inside of the airlock, gags in their mouth and Emerson standing next to Octavia with a radio in his hand.

Everything was quite and Dakota felt her heart hammering away in her chest as her breathing quickened. She let out a breath and opened her eyes only to have Emerson in front of her, but her vision blackened as something had hit the side of her skull and she fell to the floor with a crash.

_________

Dakota jolted awake when a sharp kick to her ribs were delivered and her eyes shot open as a muffled scream escaped her mouth. She pulled uselessly against the handcuffs that connected her to the wall.

"No!" Bellamy yelled, entering her field of vision as he rounded the corner of the hallway. Dakota's eyes shot forward to see Clarke with her hands up. Emerson stood behind Dakota with a knife to her throat, her brown hair bunched up in his hand as he held her head back to get a clear vision of her throat.

"Good. Now take out the clip. Throw it down the hall. Put the gun on the ground and get inside." Emerson instructed him, but Clarke stepped forward.

"Please. You wanted me. I'll get inside once you let them go." She said desperately, her eyes locking onto Dakota's as they filled with pain.

"I was talking to Bellamy." Emerson hissed and dragged the knife slowly across Dakota's chest, black blood oozing out of the new wound. Dakota began to struggle in his hold, but only got a knee to the kidneys.

"Ok, ok. Just.. just stop." Bellamy said, raising his hands before putting his gun on the ground, followed by his knives.

Dakota watched him as he entered the airlock, his eyes not once leaving hers. He was about to step towards her, when Emerson pointed towards the handcuffs to the wall that laid next to her. "Those are yours." Bellamy looked over at him and started to secure them around his wrist.

Emerson released Dakota roughly, making her slam into the wall. Dakota let out a muffled cry and shook her head as tears fell from her eyes. "Dakota. Look at me," Bellamy cried to get Dakota's attention but all she did was shake her head as her eyes shut tightly.

"I won't let you get hurt because of me. Not again." Bellamy whispered softly, making Dakota's eyes open and look into Bellamy's brown ones. "I love you. I will always love you, even though you can barely look at me." He whispered softly, his eyes looking down at the black blood dripping down her chest.

Emerson pulled his gun from the holster, pointed it over at Clarke. "Get on your knees, Clarke. Put your hands behind your head," she did as she was told. Emerson walked out of the airlock and shut the doors.

"No. You can do anything you want with me, ok? Just let them go." She pleaded with him, staring at them inside the airlock in horror. Emerson yanked Clarke off of the floor, dragged her over towards the doors and pressed her against them.

"You murdered 381 people. You took the lives of my children, my brother, my friends. Did you really think that I would be happy with just one life in return, hmm?" He hissed in her ear.

Inside the Airlock, Dakota could hear a beeping nose as he pressed another button on the control panel. "Airlock 5, oxygen venting. Airlock 5, oxygen venting." Dakota's eyes had widened in shock at the voice that sounded out from the comms system. They were going to have the air sucked out of their lungs.

Everyone started to panic, struggling against their restraints. The air was becoming thick, and it was getting harder and harder to breathe. Dakota began to gasp for air as she looked down at her boots with fear in her eyes. She looked over at Bellamy who was staring back at her, just when she was about to say something, her eyes grew heavy due to the oxygen deprivation.

"Submit to The City Of Light, Dakota." A.L.I.E. suddenly appeared at her side, crouching down at the girl at her most vulnerable stage. "I can help you. Just submit."

Dakota looked up at her with hope in her eyes. "I-" She managed to croak out just as A.L.I.E. began to flicker. "I sub-" Just as the words left her mouth, her whole body sank to the ground, and her mind was black.

The door opened up behind them, oxygen flowing in and filling the room. Clarke sat there, gasping for her own air and looking up at all of her friends in horror as they started to gasp for air. Dakota's eyes fluttered open and she greedily sucked in a breath. She looked over at Bellamy, who was hanging weakly from the wall next to her. She sighed in relief as her eyes traveled over towards Raven who had awoken and Octavia that began to stand.

_____

The Rover was in the midst of being packed. Dakota helped Octavia load a box of rounds into the Rover when Jasper had tapped on her shoulder, catching her attention. The girl glanced back at him, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion when he pointed behind her.

She turned to face the gate, watching Bellamy walk towards the group carrying a body that was wrapped up in a cloth. Lincoln.

Bellamy gently placed the body on the ground, backing away from Octavia as she fell to her knees next to him. Octavia slowly pulled the cloth away, uncovering the face that she had learned to love. She couldn't contain her overpowering sorrow any longer. "No," She trembled, before letting out a loud sob. Dakota walked over towards the girl and kneeled down behind her, letting her arms wrap around her after she kissed Lincoln's forehead.

"I'm so sorry, Octavia." Dakota whispered when she felt the younger girl lean into her embrace. Octavia looked back at the brother, who stared down at her with tears in his eyes.

The bodies of Lincoln and Sinclair had been placed upon a makeshift table made of wood. Everyone surrounded it, readying to say goodbye to their friends and send them off with honour.

Octavia held a torch in her hand, which she lowered onto the wood, before stepping back and watching the flames flicker and grow. "Yu gonplei ste odon."

"Yu gonplei ste odon," everyone else repeated.

"Yu gonplei ste odon," Dakota heard Bellamy whisper from beside her. She turned her head to look at him as he watched Octavia over the fire with guilt filled eyes.

Octavia looked at her brother, but he refused to meet her eyes. "It's time to go," she instructed. "I'll get the map," she walked off, missing Bellamy's longing glance at her.

Dakota stood next to Clarke as she gazed down at the flame in her hands. "She would be so proud of what you've done here, Clarke." Dakota said as she put her hand on the girl's shoulder. Clarke glanced up and offered her a pained smile.

"Hey, we're leaving. Why aren't you ready?" Bellamy's voice rang throughout the garage. Dakota glanced up in confusion before following his gaze, seeing Raven, Monty, Miller, Harper, and Bryan standing in front of them.

"We're not going with you." Raven said, walking down the ramp with Monty's help. Raven noticed how Dakota's eyes widened and worry washed over her face and how Clarke stepped forward with a protest about to leaving her lips. "He can barely walk, and my shoulder's killing me," she argued, cutting the blonde off before she could say anything to change their minds. "My brain's all kinds of awesome."

Monty elaborated on Raven's claim. "She remembered that A.L.I.E. downloaded herself into the Ark mainframe. If the code is still there, we might be able to find a back door."

"I'm guessing once you connect A.L.I.E. 2 to Luna, we'll need to access A.L.I.E. 1 to take her down." Raven said, a smile playing on her lips.

"Miller?" Dakota said, turning her gaze to him. He shrugged, gesturing to the group around him.

"We'll keep them safe," Miller nodded at her.

"I'll keep them safe," Harper joked, nudging Miller's side.

"How about you?" Bellamy asked Jasper. "It's gonna be dangerous."

Jasper shrugged, "you know me well. I'm in." He smirked.

Dakota smiled at everyone as they all exchanged goodbyes. After hugging everyone, she stopped in front of Raven and Monty. "If either of you die, I will bring you back to life just to kick your ass." She said seriously, shooting them glares.

Raven laughed, wrapping her arm around her shoulder. "I won't die on you, Kota." She said into her hair before pulling back. Dakota then looked over at Monty with a raised eyebrow, before he pulled her into a hug.

Dakota let out a shaky exhale before turning around and walking towards the passenger side of the Rover, opening it to reveal Bellamy in the driver's seat. He smiled down at her, his eyes glimmering in the low light.

Dakota let out a small smile while she lifted herself into the Rover. She looked back at all of her friends before closing the door. "May we meet again," She spoke, looking over at Bellamy while he put the Rover in gear.
