Her whole being was on fire just moments ago, but that fire went out and now she felt completely cold. Dakota was left alone in her bedroom all night until morning came and the sun rose in the east. She sat on the windowsill, staring out at Polis which seemed like thousands of miles away from the height of her room. She smiled at the small memory that lingered in her mind, she would of never guessed Earth had so much beauty to offer up in space. She remembered spending hours in front of a big window, overlooking Earth until someone had found her, and that someone always had been John Murphy.
"I knew you would be here," He had always said as he would sit down beside her and pull her into his side as they overlooked Earth together. She missed the fucking doofus so much. The only person she fought the demons in her mind for, hoping to see his stupid face again when she had gotten locked up.
She had heard the door open up behind her and in walked Lexa, dressed in all of her armor and war paint. Dakota didn't stand in her presence or even acknowledge her, she just continued to stare out the window, her eyes stained with happy tears as her mind rolled through her many memories.
Lexa stood like a ghost in the room, just standing there watching the brunette until she finally spoke, "I'm going to the Ice Nation." She declared and Dakota let out a small laugh.
"Why? Are you going to give her an award for killing my people?" She questioned, keeping her eyes locked on the window.
Lexa's eyes softened as she crossed the room and sat down on the edge of Dakota's bed which was a feet away from the window, "I take no joy in what happened to your people, Dakota." She said softly and Dakota finally looked up to meet her eyes and she could see the truth behind her words.
"You took no joy in the death of my people yet you left them to die in Mount Weather," Dakota slowly rose from her slouching position. "You're the reason Clarke had to kill Finn." She stated as she crossed the room.
"How do you act so heartless all the time? Killing people matters, it matters and you know it!" She exclaimed, the tears ready to fall from her eyes.
"Because it was my duty!" Lexa finally snapped, tears burning in her own eyes and Dakota blinked back, slightly stunned.
Lexa sighed and walked over towards the windowsill, hanging her head low as she looked over her city. "It matters, Dakota. I'm the Commander, and I have to be strong, for them." She swallowed hard before looking up at Dakota. "I lost someone special to me too, and it broke me."
Dakota looked over at her, "Who?" She questioned.
A faint smile crossed Lexa's lips, "Her name was Costia. She was mine." She breathed out and Dakota put her head down.
Dakota watched as Lexa stood there for a moment longer. She moved towards her bed and leaned to lay down on it. "Tell me about her." She said, shocking Lexa who turned her head to the side to look at her and a small smile fell onto her lips.
"She was my girlfriend. She brought out the best of me. I loved her." She sucked in a large breath before walking over towards Dakota and sitting down on the edge of the bed.
"Queen Nia knew of this," She stated, "She had her captured. She tortured her for days on end before it was finally over." Her voice got quiet and she had this haunted look in her eyes, her skin went pale as she sucked in a breath.
"Queen Nia killed her, cut off her head." Dakota opened her mouth in shock and diverted her gaze, no longer able to look at the Commander.
"I'm so sorry. That must of been hard for you."
Lexa looked over at her, "It was. What I'm saying is; to be a leader, sometimes you need to do the things that your enemy would do." She whispered and Dakota looked back at her, meeting her softened gaze.
"Sometimes I keep forgetting that everyone else has their own battles." Dakota said quietly. "I'm not the only one with a problem in this world." Dakota paused her words for a moment as Lexa continued to stare down at her. "Why are you going to Azgeda?"
"The Queen challenged me to a fight till the death with Roan. I accepted. I thought you'd like to know." She said and her voice held some hurt. "Today, I will fight Roan until one of us is dead. If I shall fall, my apprentice will take my place as Heda."
Dakota pursed her lips, "As Roan's second, I do not wish to see him fall, but if that mean the Ice Queen will take his place." Dakota looked at Lexa as her eyes questioned her every word. Dakota put her hand on the Commander's shoulder and squeezed gently. "I don't wish you dead,"
Lexa raised her head at the confession, but still felt confused. "I let my anger get the best of me most of the time. I guess that's why they are calling me chaos from the shadows. You never know who I might target next." She said and Lexa nodded.
"Will you be there?" She asked, her voice slightly small and Dakota thought it over for a second.
"Yes."

Dakota was overjoyed to get out of Polis, she felt herself going stir crazy, like she had been when she was locked up. She had been given a horse, her own horse. He was a brilliant jet black stallion who had just a bad temper as she did. She smirked as she gave him the name, Hades.
She had dressed herself in black leather pants with some combat boots, and a black leather jacket with a cape on her shoulder. For the first time in forever, her face was painted with black paint and dark eyeliner coating the inside of her eyes. Her hair was braided back like she had usually done it.
She had a long hood over her head, shielding away her identity as she galloped into the Ice Nation, two guards behind her whom had led her towards her destination. She hopped off her horse quickly, already hearing the multiple chants.
The bald man in the robe, Titus, began to speak. "In single combat there is but one rule, someone must die today. You may begin."
One of the guards took the horse and she quickly thanked him before rushing towards the coliseum. Dakota pushed her way through the people but kept her head down. She pushed through the crowd until finally she reached the front.
Her eyes landed on the fighting ring where both Lexa and Roan were battling, taking dangerous swings of their swords. The crowd were going wild, chanting as they fought against each other, both of them showing their strengths and weaknesses.
Dakota's eyes slowly trailed to the stands, where a woman was sitting on a throne and she gritted her teeth together. It was her, it had to be. The Ice Queen, her heart cooled by the winter's breeze. She stared down at the fighting with excitement and a cocky look in her eyes.
"I didn't think you would come." Clarke walked through the crowd and stood beside her.
Dakota scoffed. "Where there's a fight, I'm not that far." She smirked as she looked over at the younger blonde.
The crowd gasped when Lexa knocked Roan's sword from his hands and he stumbled around the coliseum, looking disorientated before he punched one of his own guards and grabbed the spear from his hands.
The two got back at it, landing kicks, punches and slashes at each other and Dakota found herself with sweaty palms and widened eyes. The fight was getting more heated and soon Lexa was knocked to the ground and Dakota winced as she watched her scurry back. But then she got back up and she gave it her all until Roan was in the same positon as she once was. He laid down on the ground as she held his spear in her hands, looking down at him as her nose dripped with black blood.
Dakota's attention turned to Queen Nia whom was standing, her eyes wide with rage as she watched her son soon to be defeated.
"Get it over with." She heard Roan spit out, his eyes gazing up at Lexa who held the spear between her fingers. Dakota felt her heart drop into her stomach when Lexa held the spear up to pierce Roan's chest and reclaim her position as Commander, but at the last minute, Lexa looked up and let her spear go flying into the Ice Queen's direction, piercing her and making her re-sit in her throne.
Dakota found herself in utter shock as the Queen laid to waste. "The Ice Queen is dead!" Lexa announced to the crowd whom watched her every move as she turned her gaze to Roan, his eyes sparking as her lips curved into a smile.
"Long live the King!"

Dakota sat in her room, staring out the window as the sky turned dark. She had discarded her jacket, which now sat nearby on the chair. Her head was in her hands as she stared out, letting the cool wind of Azgeda brush against her bare shoulders.
A soft knock against the doors had Dakota looking up from her hands, but not turning around. She had thought it was Lexa on the other side of the doors, but when the doors closed and followed a sound of a husky voice, she knew it was Roan.
"The Queen is dead," Was the first thing he had said to her as he walked over towards the balcony.
"Yeah, I witnessed that." Dakota gave him a sheepish smile as she joked, which made Roan shake his head and smile slightly.
"I never thanked you for becoming my Second. It was not an easy choice to be made." He said as he followed her from the balcony and into the middle of the guest room.
"I want you to teach me all you know. I want to be a warrior."
Roan smiled down at his boots for a moment. "Warriors are not born and they are not made, Skaigada. Warriors create themselves through trail and error, pain and suffering, and their ability to conquer their own faults."
Dakota nodded slightly, "I have enough pain and suffering to last me a lifetime." Dakota breathed in frustration. "I want to learn how to fight like you, and-" She spoke but shook her head, unable to find the right words to tell him what she was thinking.
"Teach me." She finally looked up at him and Roan caught the sparkle of hope in her eyes as she got down onto one knee. "I doubt anyone has bowed before you yet, and I want to be the first." Dakota laughed at herself. "Here I am, bowing before you and I said I wouldn't bow to anyone."
Roan smiled down at the younger brunette and offered his hand to help her off the floor. She took it and stood onto her feet. "I want to go home tonight."
Roan nodded as he eyed her. "I'll speak with Commander Lexa, and get you an escort. I will not keep you here because you are my second." He told her before walking towards the door.
"Roan?" Dakota's voice stopped him in his tracks as she called for him one last time. Roan turned his body to look at the girl over his shoulder. "Why didn't you kill me?"
He stood there for a moment, questioning what she had meant. But it finally hit him as he realized she was talking about when she jumped from the tree that day and killed two of his own. "I have never seen a Skaigada with so much talent before." He turned around to fully face her as Dakota looked on with a hint of question in her eyes.
Roan looked at her, but he stared and never fully answered her. He was in a war with his own mind, trying to find truth to his words. "I don't know." He finally told her with a shrug of his shoulders and turned back around to grab the door knob.
"Roan, I think you can call me Dakota now."
A/N: I took the day off to write since I have a pretty nasty chest infection right now. I love writing this book so it's never really a pain to sit down and write for 5 hours straight. I actually enjoy it. Anyways, what do you guys think of the two relationship developments. Dakota and Roan or Dakota and Lexa?
