(1.5) the seek(h)er
SLYTHERIN! SLYTHERIN!
The warm breeze soaks into Jeon Jeongguk's exposed hands as he and the rest of the Slytherin team step into the bustling and awaiting Quidditch pitch, the Firebolt Supreme standing tall and proud in his right hand.
"Today's game, we have Gryffindor versus Slytherin!"
He basks in the cheers, the yells, the pounding of the drums. In his right, he feels Park Jimin, their Keeper, take his place and wave to the crowd, causing more cheers and screams to come from their House. It feels good, he thinks as he climbs up his broom. The immense support from everyone spurs him on and he even grins genuinely when he finally comes face to face with the other team and-- ah.
There she is.
Lalisa Manoban looks as beautiful as ever, with her furious red cheeks and tight jaw as she regards him with disdain. Next to them, Madam Hooch starts explaining the rules, but Jeongguk has heard this numerous times already (he can even recite it in the middle of using non-verbal spells). Instead, he focuses his gaze back to his rival Seeker, and smirks when he sees her already gripping her broom tightly.
(She is such a cute little thing. Jeongguk could smother her.)
"Listen, everyone," says Madam Hooch. "I want a clean game today. If I see any of you stepping out of line, I will not hesitate to disqualify you from there on out. There will be no exceptions." She looks at him pointedly.
Jeongguk? Playing dirty? He would never.
"Understand?"
Lalisa takes this as a chance to raise her brow at him in cocky manner.
Of course he understands.
Although he'd love to feed her pride today, Jeongguk would not allow such thing. Lalisa might be Jeongguk's favourite person to bother, but right now, the Quidditch Cup is theirs to take, and the Liquid Luck flowing in his body will not allow him to lose in any way.
What was it that the Gryffindor captain would usually say? The odds were in their favour?
Well. Today, the favor is in Jeongguk's.
He simply cannot wait to snatch that trophy for Slytherin, even if it meant making a certain Gryffindor seeker fume in anger.
One by one, the Bludgers leave their chest, followed by the Golden Snitch.
"Just a reminder: the Snitch is worth 150 points. The Seeker who catches the Snitch ends the game," reminds Hufflepuff commentator Roseanne Park.
As the Snitch flies teasingly between the teams, Jeongguk catches Lalisa's eyes, and winks.
"Goodluck, pretty," he mouths.
Before he can even see her response, the Quaffle is being released, and the game begins.
Everything becomes a blur of scarlet and green, but Jeon Jeongguk merely avoids the chaos and flies up, up, and up, and decides to just watch everyone from below with a smirk. He is not in the mood to play dirty today (a miracle, one might even say) but he's merely just waiting for the Liquid Luck to take place.
Who knows, the Snitch might just land right in his palm.
A rush of scarlet robes fly past him, and he ignores it until he becomes face to face with none other than Lalisa Manoban, the Gryffindor crowding his space like some animal (specifically a kitten).
She squints at him, her blonde hair blowing with the wind. "Why are you just staying here?"
Jeongguk wants to snort. He raises a brow, "Why not?"
And there she goes again. Brows furrowed, cheeks puffed, lips pursed. Adorable.
"You might be planning something horrible, who knows," says Lalisa, confident and sure. "You Slytherins always have a plan up your robes. I just know it."
Jeongguk has to laugh at that one. "Horrible? Never."
"Then why are you here?" She asks yet again, mouth nearly pouting and Jeongguk just. He wants to squish those lips so bad. Preferably with his own lips, but he doubts the Gryffindor would allow him to do so. Anyway. "You should be out there. On the look out for the Snitch."
"Then why are you here?" goads Jeongguk. "Shouldn't you also be on the look out for the Snitch?"
The other blinks, as if just realizing what he means. The confusion simmers down before he can even tease her for it. "I just-- I just know you're planning something in that little mind of yours! Whatever it is, I will know."
He would have admired her confidence for that tone, but the red in her cheeks ultimately betrays her.
"Are you saying I'm cheating?" He pretends to be offended, going as far as to put a hand on his chest. "My, my, Lali. I am hurt."
A GOAL FOR SLYTHERIN!
The seeker frowns and crosses her arms. "Do not call me that, Jeon. We're not friends."
Just as she moves to fly away, Jeongguk starts again. "Do you like the new broom I got you?"
Lalisa stops. Stops and slowly turns her head to him, mouth open. "You-- what? You bought me this?" She gestures to her Firebolt. "Are you serious?"
It had been an idea of his from long ago. The Gryffindor seeker's broom has become a little outdated especially with new releases these past few months, so Jeongguk, out of his genuine and good heart (duh), wanted to give his opponent a broom worthy of her skills. The best of the best, of course.
"Do I look like I'm joking?"
GRYFFINDOR IS LEADING BY 30 POINTS!
Instantly, her face becomes furious. "JEON JEONGGUK!" groans Lalisa. "You asshat!"
Jeongguk cackles, although not in mockery. He just loves making her angry. "What? I promise you it's not cursed or anything! I swear on my father's name." He even makes a cross-my-heart gesture to placate her, but the scrunch in her brows remain.
"I will personally gut your--"
"It's a gift from my generous heart!"
"You? Generous? Wow, I would never--"
"...REPEAT! A ROGUE BLUDGER IS ON THE LOOSE! QUIDDITCH PLAYERS ARE ADVISED TO HEAD TO THE GROUNDS IMMEDIATELY!" comes Roseanne Park's panicked voice from the stands.
The two seekers stop their argument and turn to each with mirrored wide eyes, and that's where Jeongguk sees it.
The rogue Bludger coming straight for the both of them.
"Lali, get down!"
The Slytherin seeker wastes no time and grabs Lalisa's hand, his other herding his broom downwards just in time to escape the Bludger. Merlin's Beard, he quite literally just drank a handful of Liquid Luck before coming here, and now he's currently escaping the grabbing hands of Death himself. Great.
What a lucky man he was.
Both students hold onto each other as they fly past the various stands in an attempt to avoid the Bludger that is now confirmed to be chasing them; it nearly grazes Lalisa's knee when they tried to head to the grounds, so for now they're stuck in the air until the Headmaster does something about it.
Speaking of, just where is that old man?!
The Gryffindor squeezes his hand. "There! I see Headmaster Kim near the entrance. Let's go!"
"He arrived just now?! My father will hear about this, he will-- LALISA!"
Jeongguk could not do anything but stare as the Bludger hits the end of Lalisa's broom, sending them both plummeting to the ground. In a state of panic, the Slytherin lets go of his own Firebolt, the broom be damned, and jumps to wrap the girl into his arms before they even hit the grass.
The impact hurt like absolute hell, and it sent them rolling over the field until they stop. But that did not even matter. No, not right now, not when--
From afar, Jeongguk could hear Headmaster Kim muttering a counter spell and commentator Roseanne Park screaming orders from the stands, but he does not even listen to them.
Not when he's on top of Lalisa, their arms wrapped around each other, and their lips locked in a kiss.
Merlin's beard.
Liquid luck, indeed.
