Chapter 11

  *****

www.ourlittleteenvoices.com

Tuesday 21st February.

  Facts about Mr Ken Omokhdiom.

He was the Dean of Studies at Willow Heights Academy and has terrorized almost all the junior students.

He used the grade of students to blackmail them into sleeping with him.

His marriage was built on that basis and rumor has it that his wife was once a victim.

Wednesday 22nd February.

Facts about Mr David Efe.

He was the P.E teacher at Willow Heights and his character will disgust you the most.

He took his job as a privilege and walked in on girls in the changing room purposely. He even went as far as removing the lock on the door and the school authority did absolutely nothing to stop him.

The SS 3 students of Willow Heights Academy gathered in the middle of their school compound as they waited for their form master. The man had previously called them to collect their reprint slips for their upcoming exams.

Natasha held Tobe's hand as they entered the compound. Their classmates mocked them for being the very last to arrive but they couldn't care less.

"What are you doing after this?" Natasha asked hopefully.

Tobe felt his heart skip a beat as he remembered the scholarship exam he had to write around noon that same day. His thoughts were cut short when the form teacher arrived and began to share the slips as quickly as possible. The deserted school gave not only him but also the students chills.

"I'm so excited for this JAMB exam." Natasha squealed as she got her slip containing the location for her exam and time.

"Me too." Tobe said, less enthusiastic than the girl beside him. He looked at his watch and realized he had less than thirty minutes to get to the centre for the exam. He let go of Natasha's hand and took permission from the teacher.

Mr Moses, whose number one joy as a teacher was to see his students progress, quickly permitted Tobe.

"Where are you going?" Natasha asked worriedly as she held him back. Tobe thought of how happy she was that they both applied for the same University and he decided against telling her the truth.

"My mum is sick. I need to go back home as soon as possible." He said instead. Natasha nodded slowly as she let him go.

"I hope she gets better soon." She wished with a bright smile on her face. Her smile ate deep into Tobe whose conscience already began to judge him.

"Yeah. Bye." He said before jogging off.

Detective Okoye and Jamaal walked out to the parking lot only to see a bunch of students gathered there.

"What are they doing here?" He wondered.

"They're the SS 3 students. Their form teacher took permission to allow him gather the students here and give them their JAMB slips." Jamaal explained and Okoye nodded in understanding.

Okoye recalled that the student that died was pregnant with the late Dean's child so he wondered if any of the students knew someone who was close to Alisha, close enough to want to kill the Dean.

"Jamaal, call me a student among them. Preferably a girl since girls tend to have all the information." Okoye asked. His partner was confused about the sudden investigation but carried out his instruction.

Nini's heart flew out of her chest when the detective walked up to her and called her. Flashes of the late principal's bloodied body in his office clouded her mind and she wondered if they were going to arrest her for not calling the ambulance then.

"Why are you calling me?" She fearfully asked. Jamaal almost laughed as he himself equally had no idea.

"Detective.." Jamaal called. Okoye nodded his head before looking at the fear-filled girl.

"Don't be afraid. I just want to ask you a few questions." Okoye said trying to calm the girl. Her hands shook wildly as she stared at the same detective that handled the late principal's case. "How close were you to Alisha Idris?" Nini almost collapsed in relief as she realized why she was called. Her confidence came back with full force.

"Alisha? We were just classmates. I don't even know if I've ever had a conversation with her." Nini replied. Okoye chuckled at her change of demeanor.

"Do you know anyone that was very close to her then? It must not necessarily be a classmate, maybe a teacher or.." Okoye asked.

"It's just Amber, no one else. They were always joined at the hip. You may even think they're sisters or twins. The death hit Amber big time and you can even see it in her expression nowadays. That's how close they were." Nini's mouth was already working overtime before she knew it. Jamaal thanked the stars for his perfect choice of student.

"Alright. Can you just point this Amber out and you'll be on your way?" Okoye asked finally. Nini quickly turned, her eyes going every which way till it landed on the Amber. The girl was putting on a simple sweatshirt and Jean trousers with a pair of white vans. She was biting her nails as she stared at the slip in her hands.

"Thank you very much Miss." Okoye greeted as Nini skipped away. Okoye focused his attention at Amber as he thought of the slim, wide eyed girl engaging in such gruesome murder.

Amber felt someone's gaze at the side of her face and she turned curiously only to see the detective's eyes on her. She felt her heart skip a beat but she maintained her cool and matched his gaze without a hint of fear.

Okoye raised is eyebrow in surprise as the girl unwaveringly stared back at him before looking away. Even an innocent person couldn't look at him the way she did. He just knew there was something about her that strengthened her morale.

"I thought you said a student can't commit a crime like this." Jammal interjected.

"At this point Jamaal, the suspect list is wide open." Okoye said, "What about the clip retrieved from the corridor of the pool area?"

"Here you go." Jamaal said, giving him the phone in his hand. They played the dark video and the only think visible was the restroom sign. After sometime, the boy's restroom opened and a few minutes later, the silhouette of a person stepped out and closed the door.

"There's still a chance that's it's not a student." Jamaal argued as the video ended. "It can just be a teacher or a security man."

"Or a girl that wants us to think otherwise." Okoye concluded, his gaze fixed on Amber.

Tosin sat comfortably on her couch as she watched a reality show. The middle aged unmarried woman happily munched on the snacks she was holding. She thanked the heavens as she enjoyed the impromptu school break.

A knock on the door made her reduce the volume of her television. She wondered if it was her nosy neighbor that wanted to tell her to turn down the volume. That was the thing about cheapskates apartments. The walls were too thin.

"Who's there?" She asked, not attempting to stand from her position. Whoever was at the door knocked yet again and Tosin let out a string of curses as she marched to the front door. She tore the door open, ready to give the person a piece of her mind. Instead she saw a pink gift bag on the ground with rose petals around it.

"Omoo." She said softly as she took the note inside the bag.

"Finding your apartment was a bit difficult but it was worth it.

A box of chocolate and a bottle of wine can't say enough of what I feel for you.

When we meet soonest, tell me how much you love the taste of my love.

~Yours only,

Love from afar.

"Omoo omoo. This wine is expensive o." Tosin exclaimed happily as she danced around. "Finally, somebody's son don find me." She sang. She quickly took the gift bag inside her apartment.

Amber smiled as she watched the teacher. She shook her head at the stupidity of the woman. She didn't even realize how easy the task was till she began. A beat up apartment complex with zero security, a beautiful combination. She grinned as she thought of how happy Ultio's fans would be soon.
