Chapter 18: Secrets, Secrets, Secrets

The morning felt sluggish. I really wasn't looking forward to what is coming. Both company and school related.

The threat of Doctor Thorn loomed over everyone in Olympian Enterprise as they worked hard and long hours to complete certain tasks.

On of those was giving me a time estimate of when Thorn would arrive as they watched video surveillance for him.

Estimated time, 43 hours, 15 minutes, 4 seconds.

Estimated time before school starts, five minutes. That being said I was currently skating down through New York chasing time.

Let me explain how I was so late, Aunt May left early for Yoga, Peter went to talk to his friends, leaving me to oversleep my alarm from how exhausted I was and currently.

I barely got to school on time, give it five seconds before the bell rang and I was in my seat. I sighed in my seat only for me to get confused as Pop Quiz was written on the board.

I wasn't worried, I pay attention and studied at night, with the exception of last night. I was just tired that this stunk, that and the stink eye that a newly-returned Flash Thompson was giving me.

I calmed myself and forced to forget about Flash Thompson and everything about my life and instead focus on the tests (which were very easy).

I finished in no time. It was awkward because Peter's friends were still working, even Eva who seemed to find it as easy as I did but took a longer time than I did.

Peter himself would sometime scratch the back of his head before he completed his test, clearly he was worried about how well he done but gave me a smile and a thumbs-up anyway.

I gave him a smile and continued to read the book that I had with me, only my phone was between it as I was reading information that the scientist sent over.

It seems the time sped up. 36 hours, 52 minutes, 43 seconds. It seemed they finally got when he was going to arrive, "it shouldn't change after that", is what they told me.

I was hoping to recover some more before a fight and I'm hoping that I will have enough in me to take care of Doctor Thorn his failed experiment.

Today felt more sluggish than any other time in my life, not even when Chiron got hit by that car. I raced down the steps of school knowing I needed to get back to office, because if something did happen to me....

30 hours. 28 minutes. 28 seconds. If something did happen to me, well I have about thirty hours left...I had to get things in order now don't I?

I stopped myself just before going in, I had to act calm, I couldn't let them freak out. Not now anyway, slowly I breathed and put on a mask and calmly walked into the building.

"Katie." I asked the receptionist/goddess of the booth.

"Yeah Percy?" Katie asked giving me a soft smile, she was always that kind person unless you did something that insulted her, then you wouldn't see that kind person anymore.

"Make sure no one disturbs me unless they say it's urgent or if you know they are family, meaning Aunt May and Peter." I said smiling back at her even though my gut wrenched at what I was about to do.

"You got it sweetie." Katie said and ruffled my hair lightly, in a joking manner before sending me off to the elevator.

I stood in the elevator and watched it slowly rise up, before I knew it the cart had stopped suddenly and the powers went out.

I narrowed my eyes and tried to push panic away from taking over, this wasn't good/ I pushed the emergency button and found that it wasn't working, picking up the phone on the side it also wasn't working.

Panic was quickly subduing me before the exit gate above my head open and a familiar tentacle appeared before a face went with it.

Schooling my features I calmly stared at Doctor Octopus, "Today is not a good day." I said calmly and dodged when he tried to grab me.

"Hold still brat." The man sneered but I held a times-out sign, surprisingly he actually did stop for a second.

"Let's make a deal." I said quickly before Dr.Octopus could change his mind.

"What would that be?" The doc asked trying to not act interested but was failing badly.

"I expect to die within the next," I checked my watch and estimated the time, "29 hours. If I live through the experience I will help you for 10 hours, freewill, ten hours. No Mr.Oswald. Don't give me that look to me it was obvious he hired you, ten hours and I will help with anything building wise and legal, no robbing or trying to kill the world , whatever you do." I said with more confidence than I felt.

"If I don't make this deal." Doc asked wondering what I had to say.

"I'm dead either way." I said shortly staring then man that's suppose to kidnap me in the eyes, "You would be in a greater place if I happen to live the non-kidnap death."

Doc looked like he was thinking as I heard the elevator doors slowly, creaking like something was pulling it apart.

"You don't have much time." I said trying to speed him up, if people interrupt then he would definitely kidnap me and I can't have that right now.

"Alright, you have a deal." Doc Octopus said and crawled back on top of the elevator before the doors split open.

"Percy are you okay!" Gushed Katie as she swept me into a hug and I gave her a gentle smile, "I'm fine Katie, promise. But I really do need to get to my...office." I said feeling weird saying it, I never spent time there even before Chiron got hurt. It was just so bland and weird because it use to be my father's.

Katie stared at me for a second before releasing me and slowly nodding, "Okay, no distractions unless urgent, Peter, or May. Got it boss." She said cheerful and had the men who opened the doors go figure out what went wrong.

How was I supposed to tell anyone that I planned on talking to someone about some sort of will, or a message to leave people in case I do die?

It's not something you just say, or really tell. Heck, it's not something a kid like me should have, but here I was all thanks to Doctor Thorn.
