The Reinmacht One

Zola smirked as he stared forward to the camera. An ensign giving a silent countdown as the final preparations were made. As the mechanoid began to speak, his face was plastered on every screen-and his voice is heard on every radio-up and down the Eastern Seaboard.

"Greetings! Citizens of The United States! And your fellow compatriots around the world," he starts, his face plastered on every jumbotron in Times Square. The exaggeration of scale makes his robotic appearance even more menacing. "I am Doktor Arnim Zola. Commander of the Third Hydrian Reich."

"My people and I come from a world that is parallel to yours. And, for too long we have fought to change the ways of our world, and have continuously failed."

"We fought our progenitors of stagnation to a standstill. And have chosen to come here to free you from your own, and liberate you from the soul crushing tyranny of freedom and choice to bring you peace, plenty, and prosperity..."

"I can see why Vandal distrusts this man," Lex Luthor remarked as he watched the automaton spout his propaganda. "Such a heathenistic and desperate creature. I almost pity him. Almost."

A shadow fell over his office as the third extradimensional ship parked directly overtop of his building.

Lex sighed and pressed a button on his desk, "Mercy? Could you be a dear and have Clovis give everyone the rest of the day off?"

"Alright! Everyone! Stay calm. Single file," Perry White urged through a megaphone. "Just stay calm, and we'll all get through this."

The elderly newspaper executive was working along side the building's security team to get as many people outside or into the basement as possible—in as orderly a fashion as possible. amongst the sea of people, he saw a patch of red hair.

"Jimmy!" he shouted through the megaphone, upon recognizing the young photographer. He shouted for him again, but discarded the megaphone upon the emittance of an ear piercing screech. He squeezed his was through the crowd and stepped in front of the young man. "Jimmy, where's Lois?"

"She's with the Armored unit on the Goth Bridge, Chief," Jimmy informs, as he hands Perry a folder. "I came back to give you the outlines for the Thorne story."

"Forget Thorne!" Perry scolded, but put the folder under his arm. "I need you to take pictures of these ships in the sky!"

"Sure thing, Chief," the redhead called as he rushed back outside with his camera.

Perry looks around, looking for one man in particular. He searchingly exclaimed, "Has anyone seen Kent!?!"

High above the intruding craft, the one known as Superman keeps watch over this new threat. All possible inclination to otherwise was eliminated the moment the invader spoke. He could see and hear the terror the android was causing just by his mere presence. The sounds of panic and fear of the innocents scrambling to get to refuge and sanctuary, and not just those in the city—but of the surrounding area and the country and the world at large. They all trembled and sought guidance, knowing with a certain dread that what was about to occur no one could ever have predicted.

He shifted his ears' focus towards the ships themselves. Listening to the men and woman inside as they rushed around to their stations—their battle stations. The loyal soldiers prepping their weapons as the Man of Steel tensed up in preparation to block and return their blows. As he listened, a familiar sound could be heard. Covered up by the whining of dozens of laser cannons powering up, a fearful heart strained inside the chest of a strong young woman. Using his x-ray vision to peel back the walls of the craft, his eyes could not confirm what his ears had detected.

Artemis was onboard the lead ship.

He could hear her strained heartbeat, having been trained to recognize those of his fellow Leaguers and their proteges. But.... He could not see her. For the room she was in was entirely enclosed in thick, black metal: Lead.

With a resigned sigh, he tapped his ear and activated his comlink. Updating the League on the situation.
