"James." Sealey stepped forward. "If he succeeds in turning us against each other there will be no one to stop him from starting a war with the humans. It will be a genocide."

"Oh, it's too late for that, Sealey." James snapped. "You've gone too far brother, bringing them into this."

Marcus held his hand out to Sealey as if to hold him back. "Who are you talking about? Who did you see? This is all that is left of the Order. We are all here, everyone."

James glared at Marcus. "Don't play coy with me. You have already started the war, we've come here to stop you. The wolves can be dealt with later."

Oliver didn't like the sound of that. "Wolves, James? Now who is being coy?" He said hoping James was being rhetorical.

James eyebrows furrowed in anger. "They're surrounding the library as we speak. Your sentries were easy to spot but they can't get through the gate. What was your plan? Have them attack us before we could even get in? Ambush us while you stole the magic from our fallen comrades?"

"The Lycons are our allies, allies to the entire Order." Sealey argued.

"Not Lycons." Travis was standing behind James; complete and utter disgust in his tone. He was one of the biggest built members, with a crew cut and wide set shoulders. His heavy eyebrows shadowed his eyes and a jawline that made people think twice about throwing punches. "Werewolves."

James studied their reactions, "You truly didn't know." He tone utter disbelief but he could see it on their faces.

"Werewolves." Sealey spat credulously. "Werewolves know better than to step near the city. They couldn't have made it this close to the Alter without being detected."

Travis bunched his eyebrows together. "Not if someone was helping them out."

Peter hissed in Oliver's ear when he took a step forward. "We can't trust them. This is a trap."

Oliver didn't turn to look at him but only shook in his head in disagreement and continued moving forward. Everyone was studying each other, looking for any tell-tale sign that they were being deceived.

"Then we need to work together now more than ever." Oliver said to the collective, placing himself between both opposing sides. "The only thing stopping those werewolves from rampaging through the city is us uniting together. We didn't before and he nearly got away with it. We have already lost five of us because of this treachery. How many more do we need to lose before we come to our senses?" Oliver could feel it. Travis and James were beginning to listen to them. They seemed to have already considered that option. Oliver just saying it out loud made it more real. Others were starting to question things but before he could begin to relax a blazing heat seared passed his head.

He saw James duck and the spell ricocheted off the smoke and disappeared into the glow. There was a pause as everyone looked at each other, shocked and outraged. The alter erupted like canon fire. Before Oliver could realize what was happening he was tackled to the ground. Instinct kicked in and he hit the floor rolling. Peter was on top of him pinning him down.

He could hear Marcus and Sealey in the background cursing and trying to regain some semblance of control but spells, curses and hexes were flying everywhere.

"Peter." Oliver was stunned. "Get off." For a brief moment he believed that Peter had tackled him to save him. Peter didn't let up but instead reached down with his hand and pressed his palm into Oliver's throat.

"Really, Oliver." Peter smirked reading his face as Oliver figured it out. "I'm flattered. You never even considered me. Not even once?"

Oliver saw it in his eyes, the cleverly concealed hatred. There was no more need to hide it. Peter's eyes flashed in amusement but there was nothing behind them. Oliver had to move quickly, planting his feet he reached up grabbing Peters arm and in one motion threw Peter off and uncurled back up into a standing position. Peter's robes knotted up around him as he went flying but he recovered quickly and caught himself, pulling himself up to face Oliver.

"You have a secret too." Peter taunted. "Don't you?" They circled each other both waiting for the other to make the first move. "You didn't figure out what I was up to all on your own. You had a little help." Oliver's heart sank. Reagan.

Peter continued, seeing the fear he knew would be there and spurred him on. "Smart, bringing her along with you. You were always so protective though, always pathetically putting yourself in harm's way to protect the humans. I didn't think much of it at first till I heard a rumor some bitch was asking around about moonstones. Then I took a look into your little lawyer slut and to my surprise it was the same woman you'd brought with you to the cabin. I knew that you were up to something after that and then you had to go and ruin everything with your logic. Or should I say, her logic. I nearly had her in the clearing but the bitch managed to block my spell. Does it bother you, Oliver. She's not just your whore but Magic's too. Magic just used her up and threw her back to you for safe keeping. She's a castoff, unwanted and discarded. I never would have imagined you chasing after scraps."

Peter was enjoying this. "I knew you were low but seriously, Oliver. Don't worry, Reagan won't live long enough to see my plans for this world. Maybe I should keep her alive. After her little trick in the woods I might just keep her close to me so she can witness first hand my dynasty. I might even force her to help, make her complicit. That might break her, break her like a thoroughbred and she'll be my pliable little pet for eternity. May come in handy, with skills like hers I imagine she's a fox in bed. I'd keep you alive as well to watch what I do to her."

"She figured it out James." Oliver had to drag this out. Reagan was safe. He couldn't let Peter get to him. Peter had been with the others when Oliver brought her to his home. No one knew where he was taking her but Peter would have guessed. There wouldn't have been enough time for Peter to grab her. She's still at the loft. He tried not to let Peter's threats get to him. "She figured it out so quickly. She didn't say anything that first meeting but I would put money on it, she suspecting it even then. She did her research though, made all the connections and when she told me your real plan I didn't believe it at first. She's smarter than me, Peter and I know she's smarter than you."

"Never would have suspected this on your own though, could you, Oliver." Peter was bragging. Oliver could hear the pride in his voice but he could also hear the anger and the doubt. "It never even occurred to you, you were too close. That's why it was so brilliant. The Order is so single minded they couldn't see past the stone. Couldn't see the big picture. All it took was one little spark and bam! Five of these moronic magicians took care of themselves in one night." He was so confident he raised his hand above his head and spun around, taking the room in, validating himself. "And the cherry on top of my pie, they understand now and look around you. They are at it again. All I have to do is get rid of you."

Oliver could see it too. They were fighting each other. Peter wasn't even trying to keep his voice down, he wasn't making an effort to hide his betrayal and Oliver was the only one who heard him. Marcus and Travis were battling it out closest to him. Sealey was standing in front of the funeral biers arguing with James. Neither had started casting but it looked like it would happen at any moment.

"But I needed to be sure; I need to stack the deck." Peter only need to take a few steps and he was standing in the middle of the pentagram. "Christian managed to talk the giants down, but the Witches were a little more difficult. You didn't get to them in time. I couldn't turn all of them but I got enough. I was hoping they would have taken care of you and that woman of yours when I tried to get them to turn on each other but once again that stupid slut got in my way. I'll make her pay for it. Guess we're not that different from the Witches after all. They so easily turn away from their own. Too bad my followers didn't make it out of that clearing. The rest of them won't make it much longer either. Soon they will join their sisters. They will be the first group I send the humans after, eventually anyone or anything even close to taking me on will be dead." The smile that crossed his face was menacing, twisted even. Before Oliver had a chance to warn the others Peter raised both his hands and turned facing the wall opposite the biers.

Oliver watched in shock as the golden smoke began to turn, spiraling as if a large fan had been turned on and was blowing it away. Then the stench of dog filled the alter.

The other Warlocks stopped. The ethereal spirit of the room was smothered and died out, it could be felt throughout the entire Order. It sapped the spirit of the alter away from all of them. Peter stood in the center, arms raised, welcoming the werewolf pack in. There was no time to discuss matters now. There was nothing to argue about anymore. Nothing to debate. The answers were clear. The remainder of the Order turned to face the real threat. Too late but they were finally working as one.

"Peter." Sealey's pain bleaching his voice. "What have you done?"

Peter turned to face them, chin held high. "What was necessary."

The alpha took one tedious step into the alter, the soul of his tattered boot touched the sacred ground, heel then toe, then the other foot and when he stepped across the barrier unharmed the pack followed him.

"Kill them all." Peter ordered.
