i used to have (and still do, to an extent) a lot of anxiety about looking out into dark spaces or having something obscured from my view in the dark (like the shower curtain over the tub)

im scared that some kinda monster/creatures gonna be there and w/e

but one night i was doing that whole spill and was like "well, if im gonna imagine that somethings there, why dont i just tell myself aunoras there instead" and,,it worked?

and not to mention that doing some deep immersion roleplaying as my ocs has got me down from an anxiety attack before (thanks umbra and victor)

and the ever comforting thought of "umbra/matthew wouldn't want me to do [insert self destructive thing here]"

fiction is an awesome coping mechanism, guys. as long as you keep yourself grounded to reality, its good. theres a reason i obsessively keep so many photos of my favs on my phone- it calms me down
