fun fact: i like prime time detective dramas

my family usually tries out most shows with a fun gimmick or theme. several years ago, a show named forever aired.

i fell in love. passionately. i would have made sweet steamy love to this show.

the show was about this dude, and i think he was a forensic doctor? something like that. but he had a secret- he was an immortal. every time he dies, he wakes up in the middle of the river in his city, entirely naked, and then has goes about his regular life like nothing happened. been like that for hundreds of years.

in the pilot, it is shown that he owns an antique shop with an older man, who is perhaps a relative. theres little cuts of the immortal guy working in WWII as a doctor, trying to save lives from the nazis. as the episode goes on, he discovers a little jewish baby whos parents had been killed. the guy takes him in his arms. at the end of the ep, it shows the old man and the guy in the antique shop, drinking coffee. the guy leans over and kisses him goodnight. the old man is his son. honestly one of my favorite twists in any show ive seen. just such a beautiful scene ok??

anyways, he works with this cool pretty lady cop doing mysteries, and theres a cute dorky guy who idolizes the main character and is his lab assistant.

the villain is this guy who has the same immortality powers as the hero. he implies he knows a way to kill him for realz. hes very bad.

in the season finale, they fight in the sewers, but the hero gets the upper hand. unable to do any real damage to the villain, he grabs a syringe he had been threatening him with and injects him.

the stuff paralyzed the villain from the neck down. hes pretty much a vegetable. the police put him in the hospital.

the ending scene is the hero sitting by the villains bedside, and he says some little snarky thing to him bc holy crap THATS HOW TO DEFEAT AN IMMORTAL VILLAIN! THAT'S COOL! THATS SCARY! THAT GUYS PARALYZED AND CAN NEVER DIE! LIKE THAT FOREVER!

show got canceled after one season. i am not over this. IT WAS SO GOOD AND ITS NEVER COMING BACK :'0

they never even revealed WHY he was immortal, only showing flashbacks of his first death. so many open plot threads and it was so good
