Tee's POV

I debated with myself whether to respond to Tae's texts. He had been texting me one message after another but I was too scared to respond. What if he hurts me all over again. What if after returning to my life he does a disappearing act on me again. I don't think I can handle another tragic disappointment ever again.

"Hey, Tee, I really would like to treat you to a meal tomorrow. Your choice of breakfast or lunch or dinner."

When I did not respond, he followed it with another text.

"To celebrate the opening of your newest fabrics factory."

I tried to focus on running my father's business for the rest of the day but Tae's latest text kept running through my brain.

Finally it was time to close shop and go home.

I wearily drove myself home after a hard day's work. Running my father's business was no luxury cruise nor a walk in the park. The stress to keep the business afloat was intense because there was so much competition from similar businesses.

I eased my car into my driveway and went inside my house and gratefully plopped myself on the living room sofa after tossing my car key into the copper bowl that sat beside my entertainment center.

My growling stomach reminded me that I hadn't eaten my dinner yet.

I suddenly remembered Tae's text inviting me to a meal with him.

Nah, I shook my ahead. Don't play with fire, Tee. Best to keep your life free of complications.

I stood up from the sofa and walked towards my kitchen.

I was too physically and mentally exhausted to cook a proper dinner.

I reached into my freezer and took out a frozen TV dinner.

I carefully placed the frozen Swedish meatballs into the microwave and placed the required timer on.

When the microwave dinged I carefully took the carton out, making sure not to burn my fingers.

I took out a bottle of Newcastle brown ale from my fridge and twisted the cap before sitting at the table to enjoy my dinner.

Ding!

It wasn't the microwave. It was my phone.

"Still waiting for a yes to my invitation to breakfast, lunch or dinner tomorrow."

I placed my phone back in my pocket and took a forkful of my dinner into my mouth.

Oww! I scalded my tongue with the burning hot meatball. It automatically fell back into the bowl as I fanned my tongue with my hand.

Ding! went my phone once more.

"Or all three meals... I'm feeling generous 😁"

I got tired of receiving so many texts from him. I decided to put a stop to it.

Not any of the three, sorry, I don't have time tomorrow

Ding! Shit...

"Are you willing to take a rain check?"

Ohmygahd why can't he take no for an answer.

I was about to text back "Not tomorrow, not ever" when my phone started to ring.

It was my Human Resources Manager Joss.

A/N: The image above does not belong to me. It belongs to the person who uploaded it on the internet.

For those who might not know him, his name is Joss Wayar, a Thai actor and model.

"Are you okay, Joss?" I asked as a greeting after I tapped on my phone screen to take his call, because he normally didn't call me after office hours.

"Hey, Tee, is it okay if I took tomorrow off?" he asked.

"Why?" I wanted to know of course why he couldn't come to work tomorrow.

"I sprained my ankle. It's not a bad sprain but it's swelling and I thought I'd treat it with an ice pack every fifteen minutes for a whole day," he replied.

"Sure, go ahead and rest your ankle," I said. "Do you have an ice pack at home?"

"Actually no," he replied.

"Then how do you propose to do your treatment?" I asked. "No, don't answer. I will go and get you one from the pharmacy early tomorrow morning before I go to work."

"Are you sure it won't be a big bother for you?" he asked.

"I wouldn't have offered if it was," I replied and cut the call to keep him from protesting any further.

I knew that it was risky business going to Joss' house. I did not want to give him any ideas that I was giving in to the hints that he had been giving me since the day that he had started working as my Human Resources Manager. But he needed my help so I was going to give it to him.

Besides, the idea of being held in his strong muscular arms didn't sound unpleasant at all.
