Billkin's POV

I kept cursing at myself as I drove away from PP's house. I called myself all kinds of idiots. How could I allow my emotions to get out of control and take a swing at PP's boyfriend? It only served to make PP hate me even more. The realization made my heart plummet. PP must hate me so much by now . I was at a loss as to how to make him un-hate me.

The tragic realization of PP being no longer in my life made my eyes smart so much that soon my vision clouded with the tears forming in them. Before I knew it, I could feel my cheeks getting wet.

Suddenly I heard an ear piercing screech. Then I heard the loud angry honk of a car behind me before I heard the deafening explosion and felt the powerful impact on my car that sent it spinning and hurtling across the road. I felt a sharp excruciating pain on my chest before losing consciousness.

PP's POV

Maybe it was just because my stomach was grumbling and craving for food that the breakfast that Tae prepared for me tasted so heavenly. Even the tea that he had left piping hot inside the electric kettle that was still plugged in one corner of my kitchen counter tasted so deliciously citrusy.

I decided to give Tae a call. I was sure that by now he had reached his office. I would not want him to take my call if he was still on the road.

He took my call on the first ring.

"Sweetheart," I heard him say.

"What ... what did you ..." I stammered, too shocked to talk coherently.

"I'm sorry, I spoke without thinking," he said. His voice sounded apologetic enough, but my heart was still pounding hard against my chest.

"I ... I ... I just ... I just wanted to thank you for the lovely breakfast," I said, hating myself for stammering continuously.

"Oh, don't mention it," he said dismissively. "It was my great pleasure. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it."

"I'd like to return the favor," I said without thinking.

"I would absolutely love that," he said, sounding excited about my offer. "You wanna come over to my place later tonight and help me cook some dinner for you and me?"

"I don't have my car with me," I said. "It's still at the restaurant parking lot where we had dinner last night."

"Oh my bad," he said. "I totally forgot about bringing you there to pick it up."

"It's not your fault," I said. "Billkin totally distracted both of us by his sudden appearance."

"He's such a troublemaker," Tae remarked.

Somehow Tae's criticism of Billkin did not sit well with me. I felt like I should be the only one who had the right to criticize Billkin because I knew Billkin more than anyone else. Tae had only known him for a few moments. But then again in fairness to Tae, Billkin's violent behavior towards him could only elicit nothing but a negative comment from Tae. I let the criticism slide.

"Do you want me to come back to your place and pick you up and bring you to the restaurant parking lot?" Tae's question broke into my thoughts.

"No, no, no," I declined. "But thanks for the offer. I can always take a cab."

"Are you sure?" Tae asked. "It won't be a bother at all for me."

'I'm fine, really, I am," I said. "I will call you later this afternoon to confirm dinner at your place."

"Fantastic," I heard him say. "Talk to you later then, sweetheart."

There it was again. I was going to pretend that I didn't hear it.

"Talk to you later, Tae," I said and cut the call.

I managed to ward off the beginnings of a hangover by drinking several more cups of the tea that Tae had brewed for me.  Then I went through my phone apps to call for taxi service.

The taxi driver was a friendly guy but very talkative.  He covered all kinds of subjects under the sun and as we were nearing the restaurant parking lot, he started to complain about how reckless some motorists could be.

"There should be more traffic officers on the streets," he was saying. "All kinds of traffic violations are happening on the road. Why, just this morning, there was a traffic accident not far from here. It caused a massive traffic jam and all the other motorists had to wait almost an hour before the ambulance came and rushed the victim to the hospital. I wouldn't be surprised if that accident victim was dead on arrival at the hospital. He was all covered in blood and he looked lifeless to me."

A shiver run down my spine at the driver's words.

"Just drop me off here," I said to him when his taxi reached the entrance to the parking lot of the restaurant.

I quickly fished out several bills from my wallet and handed it to him.

"Keep the change," I said before stepping out of the taxicab.

I was easing my car out of the parking lot when my phone started to ring.

I took a quick glance at my phone screen that was lying on the passenger seat beside me.

Billkin's mom??? Billkin's mom is calling me??? Why would she be calling me?

The last time that I talked to her on my phone was something like a month ago when she wanted to know if Billkin was with me because she could not reach him. Oh no, how could I tell her that I wasn't seeing Billkin anymore.
