Chapter 5 - Fatal Day
3rd Person's POV (10 years old, 5 years till Present Time)
Akito sighed as he looked over the Sohmas who were anxiously waiting for Ammara to make her appearance, wanting to see what she looked like now. Hoshi and Caralina were not among them, they were outside Ammara's bedroom door, waiting to escort her out to the rest of their extended family
"Ammara? Are you alright in there dear, is something wrong?" Caralina asked through the door, lightly knocking on it. Hoshi stared at his wife, deep in thought, remembering what Akito told him if Ammara didn't transform today
"We shall cast her away as a disgrace, removed from our family tree and the new generation's memories. Only a handful of us will remember her." Akito informed Hoshi
"What if she comes back, what will we do then?" Hoshi couldn't help but to ask Akito who sent him an uneasy glare
"Words unspeakable that not only I can express within a sentence. Heed my words Hoshi, Ammara Akira Sohma, your daughter, will never be aloud to come back to the estate as long as she lives if this was to happen."
Hoshi clenched his fists at his sides in anger, he hoped it would have never come to that, he didn't want his only child to experience that pain of resentment. He knew Caralina felt the same and feared it as much as he did. Him and Caralina did indeed have a fight yesterday, but last night they came to an agreement to behave today for their daughter's case
"I'm not coming out." Ammara stated from behind the door, her voice laced with horror
"Ammara, what is it darling, are you okay?" Caralina called from the other side of the door, shaking the doorknob to see it was locked from the other side
"Ammara Akira Sohma, open the door this instant!" Caralina ordered, jiggling the handle furiously in terror. With a choked sob, Ammara spoke
"I-I... I can't..."
"What do you mean you can't?!" Hoshi yelled through the door, now his eyes showing worry in curiousity
"I just can't..." Ammara stated with another choked sob followed by a hiccup, indicating she was crying
"Hey, is Ammara ready yet- What's going on?" Ayame appeared from around the corner, noticing the frantic looks on Hoshi and Caralina's faces
"Ammara won't come out and locked herself in her room! Ayame please go get Hatori, something is terribly wrong!" Hoshi cried out to Ayame who nodded and dashed off to find Hatori while the parents tried to get through to their daughter about unlocking the door
"Please darling, open the door!" Caralina asked Ammara again, only without a response from her, there was a crash of glass breaking
"Ammara?!" Caralina and Hoshi yelled, now even more frantic. Hoshi pulled Caralina away from the door and began kicking it, trying his best to get into the bedroom. Hoshi cursed after several tries, totally forgetting that Akito had reinforced wood for Ammara's door, it was a dramatic precaution of her escaping her room when being punished by isolation. Ayame, Hatori, and Shigure ran from around the corner to see Hoshi kicking the door again
"Thank God you're here!" Caralina stated, tears streaming down her face. Shigure patted Hoshi's shoulder and began ramming into the door, trying his best to break the door down. After many tries, he was out of breath and let Ayame take over while Hatori tried speaking directly to Ammara
"Ammara, please tell us why you won't come out!" Hatori asked of Ammara, worried etched onto his features
"I can't..." Ammara stated brokenly, covering her face as she sat down with her knees pulled up to her chest, next to her now full-sized broken mirror that had broken glass spread around it
"What's going on?" Momiji asked walking towards the group of adults, hearing the yelling which now reached outside
"Momiji, stay here dear." Caralina stated hiccuping as she grabbed his hand had him stand beside her, making sure not to crash his body into hers, that would only make the situation more hectic. With a loud thrust, Ayame managed to break down the door only to freeze in his place in horror. There sat 10 year old Ammara Sohma next to a broken full sized mirror. Without indication of what has happened, there was one thing that caught Ayame's eye. She looked the same was as she always have. Short brown hair with light tanned skin with short finger nails and small body making it look like she was merely 8 years old when she has now turned 10 years old on this fatal day. She didn't transform, confirming their fears. Hoshi pushed passed Ayame and headed to his daughter, kneeling in front of her as she cried into her hands, her eyes tightly closed shut
"Ammara, look at me." Hoshi ordered his daughter in a soft voice, not wanting to upset her anymore. Ammara shook her head, not wanting to show her father of what she looked like. 'Hideous...' Ammara thought
"What's going on?" The group of Sohmas froze when they heard Akito's voice. Akito walked forward into the room, his eyes falling upon Ammara. He kneeled down beside Hoshi who casted his gaze away from Ammara, knowing what was coming, bracing himself for it
"Ammara. Look up at me now." Akito ordered her menacingly, his eyes turning into an icy glare. Ammara slowly retracted her hand back around her leg, her knees tucked into her chest tightly. She slowly looked up, brown eyes meeting gray eyes. With that single movement, Ammara's fate was set into motion.
To Be continued
Heyo Sapphires! So Chapter 5 - Fatal Day will be the last chapter of Ammara's past but maybe throughout the story you will see some flashbacks in certain chapters, only, they were be from Ammara's POV. Thank you all for being patient with the story, I know you guys wanted to see of when Ammara is older (15) so I sped up the process a little bit and now time to explain the chapter! The reason as to why Ammara broke the mirror wasn't all because she realized she didn't transform, but she couldn't see clearly. Meaning she needs glasses, ya know, normal things most people have to get when their vision goes bad. So instead of Ammara transforming, she became partially blind. The moment when Akito's eyes rested upon her set her fate, exactly the same way when she was born. Hideous is how Ammara could explain the way she looked, only she looked the same as she always did but being partially blind, she couldn't see her correct features. I know that is kinda confusing, but it makes sense to me, probably because I'm the writer XD. Next chapter will be of when Ammara is 15 so look forward to that! Thank you all for reading and I will see you all later! -Golden
