Chapter 26 - Foggy Vision
Previously on UD...
"What happened Miss Honda?" Yuki asked Tohru who went back over to get Akira's broken glasses
"I wanted to get to know her better while making snacks for everybody else but I couldn't reached the plates so I asked if Akira could get them since she is much taller than me, only for the cabinet to crash on her." She explained, walking back over to Akira and handing her her broken glasses. Akira tried to look through them, cursing under her breath
"Damn it... Well there goes my life savings." She squinted her eyes before setting them down beside her. Serena came back running in with the first aid kit, asking the males to leave the room so they could fix up her leg to the best of their capabilities.
Akira's POV
I groaned in pain as Serena began wrapping up my injured leg, my eyes only being able to see a blurry version of her
"I'm going to call Hatori, he will be able to help her better than Serena." Rin stated, dialing a number into her phone before bringing it up to her ear. I hissed when peroxide made contact with one of the scrapes on my arms, clenching tightly on the edge of the table to the point of my knuckles turning white
"Shit..." I whispered, shutting my eyes tightly in pain
"Don't worry, Hatori will be able to do much better when he gets here." Haru told me, rubbing my shoulder lightly with worry in his eyes. I glanced over at my broken glasses, my vision blurred and giving me a bad headache from straining my eyes too much in trying to see more clear image of the object. I tensed up when she dabbed more peroxide on one of my open wounds, giving off an burning sensation on the sensitive skin
"Who is Hatori?" I asked, acting as if I was oblivious as to who the doctor was. Putting on an act of confusion
"Our cousin. He is our family doctor." I nodded, swallowing the lump forming in my throat
"Haru, grab my wallet from my jacket and bring it to me." Haru nodded before running to get it giving me the chance to see Tohru and Yuki carefully picking up the shattered kitchen ware shattered glass wherever they may find them
"I really should help them..."
"No! You are not moving from this spot until Hatori gets here." I raised an eyebrow at how she worded the sentence
"So, you're saying when Hatori gets here, I can move from this spot?"
"Yes! Wait... Uhhh no..." Serena scratched her neck, furrowing her brows in confusion as she thought over what she previously told me
"Don't be such a smartass. You know what she meant." Kyo growled from his spot of leaning against the wall with his arms folded over his chest. I narrowed my hazy gaze at him
"Says the one who is doing absolutely nothing at the moment." I countered and he glared at me, taking a step forward before Yuki gave him a look, daring him to instigate me. Kyo let out a small growl before returning to his position up against the wall, glaring at the broken plates as if he was trying to move them with his mind to impale Yuki. I caught myself from chuckle at the subtle action, remembering the times I witnessed them fighting as a child. Haru came back in holding my wallet. He handed it over to me and I opened it carefully, pulling out all of the money I had at the moment which was just measly 30 dollars. I groaned, adding my little to nothing paycheck I was going to receive at the end of the week
"I can't even pay for repairs to my glasses... Lucky me." I grumbled incoherently, obviously everyone in the room perking up by my statement
"I can pitch in with the repairs-!" I shook my head at Tohru, refusing the offer, "No... I will just have to go without my glasses for about..." I began calculating the money I would need for food over time and my salary I would end up with at the end of the month, "A month in a half most likely if I don't buy any food and two months if I buy food..." I have never seen anyone's jaws dropped so fast in my lifetime. Everyone gawked at me in shock and disbelief
"No way." Serena told no one in particular and I nodded
"I will be alright... But what if I work full time for a couple of weeks, will that alter my outcome?" I asked myself out loud, about ready to do mental math again
"Don't overthink it Akira, we will help you get them repaired-"
"How many fingers am I holding up?" A blurry hand was thrusted into my face unexpectedly making me and Serena, who was currently working on my left arm, jump
"What?" I asked, confused by the question as I strained to see who was right in front of me. Oh, of course the famous Shigure (Note the sarcasm)
"How many fingers am I holding up?" He began wiggling said fingers, confusing me as to how many he was holding up
"Stop wiggling them!" I ordered him in annoyance, a headache making it's appearance
"Shigure, stop wiggling them." A deep voice ordered from the other side of me. I looked over at the corner of my eyes to see a blurry man adorning a brown suit. 'Hatori.' I thought when we locked eyes. Shigure pouted, retracting his hand away from me and rested it on his hip
"Thank goodness you're here! I don't know what else to do beside the basics!" Serena stated in relief, running over to Hatori and hugging him. I could have sworn that I saw Kyo glare at Hatori in distaste at Serena's affection towards the man but that could be my eyes playing tricks on me
"Well, let's see how well you did." Serena nodded and walked over to where Rin was who was playing on her phone in boredom, minding her own business. Hatori placed a suit case down beside me on the flat side, opening it to reveal medical supplies. We locked eyes again briefly and instead of him freezing like our last encounter, he only softly smiled and began investigating my wounds and Serena's handiwork.
