Chapter 10 - Cabin In The Woods
Previously on UD...
Haru's eyes widened before sprinting as well after her, thinking she saw him following her and thought he was stalking her, only that was not the case. After a few minutes, Akira slowed down into a jog before going into a modern coffee cafe' named 'Washito's Cafe'.' Haru furrowed his brows in confusion before nearing the cafe'. Inside the building was Akira rushing to get to the back and get ready for her 5-9 Shift
"Evening Ammara!" Celty, the cashier, welcomed Akira who nodded before going to the back where the 'Employee's Lounge' was located to get her uniform on. After changing into her before walking back out just in time to see some customers walk in and Celty ready to give her shift to Akira
"Here ya go, oh and you're locking up tonight but Gerard will be here in 10 minutes to help you out, ciao!" Celty waved at Akira who nodded waving back and watched as Celty left the cafe'. 'Time to work...' Akira thought before starting her shift.
Ammara's POV
I yawned before locking up the cafe', Gerard by my side who was whistling to himself, staring down at his phone
"Your turn to have the keys." I muttered to him before tossing them, him catching them with one hand while he held his phone in the other. He nodded subtly before walking one way and me walking the other. I breathed into my hands before rubbing them together, creating warmth before hugging myself as I trudged my way to my home. I could feel my eyes becoming droopy from lack of sleep, but I knew I couldn't fall asleep now, I still had homework to do. I stopped walking when I felt a presence behind me, as if someone was watching me. I looked at the corner of my eye only to see no one, only the dim streetlight and few straggling cars passing by with their headlights on. I shook my head before moving my glasses to the top of my head and rubbing my eyes tiredly, deprive from sleep makes you see or think things are there when there really isn't. Placing my glasses back where they belong, I continued walking until I met a small intersection. I waited for the the clear before jogging across the road and into the trail that led into the woods, the same woods that I lived in since I was 10 years old. I could feel the snow slowly come to a stop around me, only leaving one layer of snow on the ground. My school shoes being soaking wet having me sigh heavily, knowing I would have to place them by the fire when I get back. I could see my little cabin in the little meadow, the meadow I picked out just because I thought the flowers in the spring were beautiful, even my mother thought the same. I stopped, feeling trauma overcoming me. My mother, the one who gave birth to me, took care of me, believed in me, treated me as her daughter, protecting me, guiding me. My mother, the only one who looked past my curse besides my father, my father resented it, he hated who I was but tried his best to accept me, he did indeed love me, but for the wrong reason, because he hoped that I wouldn't look like what I looked like now. After my departure, my mother would send letters to me, and I would send them back with simple replies. Of course it was secret, no one knew. But short after after 5 months of me living in the cabin in the woods, the letters dwindled down to the point of when they stopped. I still remember the one question I asked her in my last letter to her. Why do you love me, even as I am cursed of this dread? I haven't heard from her since. I started to feel myself becoming lightheaded, lightheaded from the lack of sleep and food. I didn't eat this morning, I forgot my money for lunch, I didn't want to be a nuisance by asking if I could have something from the cafe' and just take it from my paycheck. The cold, headache pounding. I could feel my knees buckle from underneath me before my eyes rolled to the back of my head. It was all blank from then on, darkness consuming my sight and thought.
HatsuHaru's POV (Yes he is still being stalker-ish)
I gasped loudly once I saw Akira falling to the ground. I bolted upright before dashing over to her, jumping over a rotting log and a few huge rocks before reaching her, just in time to catch her from falling. I braced myself by closing my eyes for transforming once I made contact with her, only, that didn't happen. I opened my eyes to see Akira's face, pale as a sheet from a clean futon. I picked her up, noticing the fact that she seemed relatively light to me even though she is more average weight than most girls in Japan, meaning I couldn't feel her ribs or her bones unless I added pressure onto her skin. I looked over at the cabin in the middle of the meadow before walking over to it, questions swirling my mind such as why I didn't transform when I made contact with Akira Ammara? Adjusting her so her head would rest on my shoulder, I began walking towards the cabin, hoping that her family is home to take care of her, if not, I will. My shoes crunched against the solid snow laid on the ground as I made my way to the little . I walked up the steps to the porch before ringing the doorbell, hoping someone would open the door for me. No one came having me sigh, instead I rang the doorbell again along with a few knocks with my foot. Silence. With a exasperated sigh, I decided to just try open the door. I briefly sat Akira down, my left arm still secured around her waist so she wouldn't fall on to the cold wooden porch. I jiggled the doorknob before opening it for a whoosh of cold air to hit me coming from inside. I walked in, Akira back in a bridal style fashion. I closed the door behind me with my foot before taking my shoes off and walking into the Ammara HouseHold
"Hello?" I called out with no response. Her family must not be here, but if that is the case, then why leave the door unlocked? I ventured into the living room to see a couch with a few straggling chairs, a coffee table, and a small wood pile next to the chimney where ashes stayed meaning it burned out earlier today. I carefully sat Akira down on the couch, taking her shoes off and placing her bag next to the couch before going over to the fire place and doing my best to start a fire to warm up the home.
