Goodbye, Soulmate
This was written on February 12, 2021, and submitted as an entry to JMBelievers Valentine's Day Love Poem Writing Contest. Enjoy :)
There are many times as a child
I wished to meet you, my love
But that never happened
"You're too young!" I said.
Come to my adolescent youth
And I thought I found you
But that was an illusion
"You're nuts," I whispered.
They said we have that one soulmate
who cares, who loves, who protects
But destiny keeps me from seeing
"Give up!" I screamed.
Now, I'm in my thirties
And all hope seems lost.
Grown tired and weary
"Goodbye, soulmate," I said.
