CHAPTER 1 | New Members
As the sun was rising across the horizon; two young children around ages seven and ten were walking into a large town. Both looked exhausted as a girl was trudging her feet across the dirt path. "I don't think I can walk anymoreeee." She said in a whiney voice as she shut her eyes. Causing the male to let out a grunt as he glanced at her. Without another word, he picked her up by the back of her shirt. Going and lifting her up high above him before setting her down on his shoulders.
"This any better?" He asked and looked up at her. "Mhm.." she said and rested her chin against the top of his head. A small smile crept up on her face. Wrapping her arms around his forehead while trying not to block his vision. They had a long journey coming here, but finally, what the man at the crossroads said was right. They had made it to Oak Town. Neither had seen a place so big, it was a bit hard for them to take in as the girl sniffed the air. Raising her head and her whole body as she was trying to find the source of the smell.
"Hey! It's hard to carry you when you're standing on me!" The male said gruffly as he had a hold of both her legs. Working on regaining his balance after he about fell from more weight being put against him. Him soon gazing over at a shop as he didn't hesitate to go off course. Barely giving the girl any time to get back into position as she fell back. "Ack! Gajeel what the heck!?" The girl cried out as she was stuck leaning back far enough to where she could fall. To her own surprise; she did fall thanks to him releasing her legs for something more important than her.
Rubbing her head in annoyance; the girl gained a tic mark on her head as she quickly sat up. "What was that for!?" She shouted as her hand went into a fist. Only for her expression to become even more annoyed. The people around them looking at them in a strange way, not like they weren't used to that. They looked terrified as they watched the young boy chowing down on his share of metal that he'd grabbed from a vendor trying to set up his shop. "The nerve! Dropping me for food!" She said and sprang up. Gajeel looking back at her as he'd shrugged. Giving a sign of not caring one bit before he was flat out smacked across the back of his head. "You're not even sorry for it!!"
"Why would I be!? I'm starving!" He shouted right back as the two looked at each other.
"We could've easily gotten food." The female rebuked after their small argument. Crossing her arms as she glanced towards the ground. She was clearly trying to be the rational one of them even with the fact that neither of them had money to buy anything with. Her just leaving the male be as she went and sat on a barrel.
Looking back as she scooped her hand through the shadows being emitted behind the barrel; to most surprise, the shadow was in the palm of her hand. The girl looking at it momentarily as a saddened smile came across her face. "Gajeel.. do you ever... miss them?"
"Who?" He asked and looked at his sibling with a mouthful of iron. Him suddenly realizing by the girls expressions just who she was speaking of. Him letting out a small sigh as he shoved a bit more iron in and shook his head. Finishing up his snack as he sat down. "Rust head? Not even a bit." He said as his red eyes narrowed a bit. Meeting his sisters grey ones as they softened only by a bit. There's no doubt she's secretly his weakness. He'd never admit to that for it would damage his pride too much. "But they still took care of us. Why wouldn't you?"
"Because they left us Yasha. We've both been betrayed too many times. I won't be allowing that to happen again. Not to either of us." He said and crossed his arms. Being stubborn on the matter and giving out his true opinion on things. The girl letting out an inaudible breath before looking up.
"Looks like we're getting kicked out again." She grumbled and looked towards three people drawing near to them. Every town they've visited; something bad would happen. Leading to the duo getting banished from any town they visited. Her looking away almost instantly as the shadow dispersed from her palm. "We should go Gajeel.. there's always Magnolia." She said a bit solemnly. Knowing what was to come as she hopped off of the barrel. Her eyes staying towards the ground as she shoved both hands into her pockets.
'She's back to losing hope again.. and here I am trying to keep her sane.' The boy thought and closed his eyes. Shaking his head as he stood up as well. "We're not leaving this time Yasha. I'll talk to 'em." He said and looked back at his sister. Giving her a grin to try and lift her spirits. It barely worked though. He then gave up on trying to keep his sister happy for a moment as he went up to the three older men.
"Alright; what'd ya want?" He asked in the most adult voice he could muster up for his age. The ten year old looking down on them, since adults have betrayed him so many times before, he doesn't know who he can trust who isn't true family.
"We want you two. A little birdie told me that you both have extraordinary power." A tall man with garnet red hair and evil green eyes spoke. Him being more towards the front of the three. "So what if we do? Why would we join in on some randos posse?" He asked; even though he was feeling proud that his power was getting noticed. "Because. We, are your last hope children." He said and glanced between the two.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Yasha suddenly asked as she looked at the men. Not being intimidated at all by any of them. Though, a small chill ran down the girls spine at the red-haired male. Keeping herself together easily as she crossed her arms. There was no doubt about it that these two were related. Aside from their pitch black hair and other similar features; they both shared the same concept of all out stubbornness and the fact that they're currently standing the exact same way was a definite dead giveaway. "You said you were about to move onto Magnolia; correct?" The man asked and lightly rose a brow.
"Yeah.. we were planning to if we got kicked out of here." She said as she was kindly avoiding his sinister gaze which lied on both siblings. "Humph. I wouldn't trust them. They're all weak and there's no way you'd want an old coot trying to boss you both around." He said with a light roll of his eyes. Making fun of the other guild master as if he never mattered in the first place.
"Why stay here then? Why trust you and join in on whatever place you lot got?" Gajeel had began to get impatient. His words lacing with this emotion as he gripped his arm that was still crossed across the other a bit tightly. "Simple. We can provide for you. Give you whatever you desire and more. But, that shall come at a cost." He said and looked down at the children. "You both will work under me. Do as I say and join Phantom Lord; it's a grand opportunity for more power that I'm certain you both desire." He said as his eyes narrowed a bit. The word power instantly clicking with the boy as he looked more determined than ever. "Fine; I'm in. Only because I have better goals than others. Yasha?" He asked and glanced back at the smaller female.
Her having thought about it for only a moment before shaking her head a bit. "I'm not convinced. We don't know any of you; for all we know you all could be weak." She said and glanced at the other two with him. A blindfolded male stood on one side. The other was a teen with half black half white hair. His coal black eyes gazing into her own before he grinned. "Listen girly, you talk like you're tough. But trust us; we're the real deal."
"The real deal? You expect me to believe that?" Yasha questioned as she made an annoyed face. "If you were so tough we'd be butting heads. Right here right now!"
"Like a pair of bulls?" The teen asked and blinked. "You've got some strange methods to knock someone out girly.."
"I've got a name. And unless you want it scratched into that small brain of yours you'd better not girly me again."
Already; it was shown that this little girl could and would kill if it's needed. Seeing as she went to the lengths of threatening someone on the spot all because of a nickname. The male about doubling back at that as he looked terrified for a moment. "Duly noted."
While those two were arguing; Gajeel had finished talking to this man who calls himself Jose. "Hey Yasha! Quit your blabbing we're going to their place!"
"And you decided that why?"
"This guys better at talkin' than I thought. All the food we can eat!"
"Food! Ah, fine, we're going! Hurry it up though!"
After a long minute of walking; they made it to a gloomy, castle-like structure. A large sign on top that wrote 'PHANTOM LORD'. Two small banners underneath it holding the guilds symbol in a black coloration. Purple being the main colors for the banners as both children were in awe. "Alright; here we are children." He said and opened the doors for them. The guild definitely was large. Holding multiple floors to it as it truly was a castle inside. "Woahhhhhh!!"
"Yeesh; this place is huge.."
"Welcome to your new home." Jose said as he opened his arms out for emphasis. "Aria. Get the stamp." He said and put both hands at his side.
"At once..." he said as he had started crying out of nowhere. Walking off and returning with a smaller object in his large hand. Jose taking it as he looked towards the two. "Where do you want this and in what color?"
"Well what even is it?"
"A stamp that holds our guild symbol. A way of telling others what guild you're from."
"Ohhh.. I want mine here. Dark red." Gajeel said as he pointed to his left, upper arm. The man nodding and putting where he was told. "And what about you, little Yasha?"
Yasha thought for a moment before pointing at her hand. "Here. In a dark purple."
"Good choices you two." He said as he stamped Yasha.
"From this moment forward; you both are officially a part of Phantom Lord."
