Chapter 2.

Rishi was driving the bus, and he switched with Nandu for driving, they were sitting beside each other, as there should be a driver, and a conductor, and they were excellent. I was sitting in the last seat, enjoying my tour. Our roads were now parallelly with a river, I saw a few houses near the river, it was the houses of fishermen, I saw the fishing nets arching at the banks of the river. Now we decided to make some purchases for tonight. "God has reprieved us," I remarked. Jagadev laughs, and replies, "Pardoned from going to haunted places." Everyone laughs, Mukesh says, "I see a shopping centre too, gonna fetch enough essentials from there." Adarsh utters, "Yes Bro, let's get that." We purchased, sardines, golden anchovies, and prawns, and the fishermen gave us a huge discount, as we purchased in bulk. We thanked them, and then we moved to the shopping centre, and from there we purchased vegetables, cold drinks, and packed foods. We moved out of our homes in the afternoon after our lunch, I knew that we reach the bungalow in the evening. As we moved ahead, I saw the aspen white bungalow, the house was fading its colour, the house did not have gates, and it was a one-storey house. Jagadev and Jagriti informed that the bungalow was built by the British, and now it is almost ninety years old. Nandu halted the bus near the bungalow.

Our ghost-tracking devices did not beep, so I was assured that the bungalow was not haunted. The windows, and door of the bungalow were ancient, it had large glass windows, with white curtains. The bungalow seemed to be grovelling us to stay there, so we got off the bus. Jagadev had the keys, he opened the rustic door, and we stepped inside. The bungalow was spick and span, there was a hearth at the right, where I could see logs of woods half burned, a poker nearby, and near the hearth, two overstuffed chairs were facing each other. After that there was a huge dining table with chairs, moving further, there was a huge step curving up to the gallery, where there were rooms, we climbed the stairs, and picked our rooms. My room was big, and it had a fan, a writing table, and a chair, it had a restroom attached to the room. I refreshed myself and pulled over fresh clothes, I parted the curtains and saw the sun sinking in the west, throwing a spectrum of lights in the sky, that was a picturesque scene. I got out of the rooms, my friends decided to have the wafers, and cold drinks for the brunch. We were at the dining table, and we gobbled the wafers and cold drinks, but we had them in small quantity, as we got to have our dinner. The ladies went to the kitchen, they prepared prawn gravy, fried sardines, and anchovies, they prepared chapatis, fried potato crisps, and rice too. There were cold drinks too for dinner.

We got ready for dinner and had our dinner in merry. The food was mouth-watering, we gobbled down our dinner, and we were talking, cracking jokes, and talking about our journey. After doing the dishes, we were in the hall, and Rakhi was talking about her dreams, which haunt her recurrently. As Rakhi spoke there was a pin-drop silence in the room, as we were listening to her, even Jagriti, Jagadeep, and Supriya were too giving their opinions. Our friends and I too gave our opinions, going with our meanderings, but the fact remains the same, we must investigate the case. I could listen to the tinkling of the night creatures, however, this place was not haunted, so there was no need to worry. Later, we decided to strike down our conversation and go to sleep. The next day, we decided over breakfast to go for a trip at night, and that would be a real adventure. We slept the whole day, and in the late evening, we got up. After our dinner, we made up our mind for a trip, Jagadev handed over the keys to the watchman, we thanked him, and we embarked on our journey. I was sitting at the back, on a window seat to the left. I always preferred to sit at the back.
