Art Showcase

The wonderful artists in our community never fail to impress. Whether it's canon characters, their own OCs, or fan art for others, they always put their all into their work, and it's nothing short of amazing!

We have so many wonderful artists in our community, but this month, we want to highlight a select few who decided to challenge themselves. On our server, sun_jin decided to host an art contest where artists had to recreate this picture that SJ drew of their OC, Vivi.

They did a spectacular job creating the piece, as well as hosting this impromptu event. There were many artists on the server that wanted to participate, creating some amazing artwork.

Character Spotlight

The Storytellers have spoken! And the OC of the month is...Miu Takami! Miu is the main character of stupidhufflepuff's book, Justice's Emblem.

Name: Miu Takami (Nicknames: little bird; Hero Name: The Eagle Hero: EJ)

Pronouns: she/her

Birthday: August 15

Quirk: Fierce Eagle: this gives her the attributes of an eagle (advanced eyesight, wings, etc.) But like Hawks she can also retract her feathers and manipulate them at will. It's also important to mention that she has a quirk defect called "degrowth," which prevents her quirk from growing along with her body. Because of this she has smaller wings, and cannot fly.

Class/Occupation: Hero Student, Class 1-A

Featured Books: Justice's Emblem

Life Goals: Her main goal is to be a hero to others just like her uncle was for her, and also prove to her parents that abandoned her that they were wrong.

Here is what the author had to say about their character:

"Well, when I was in middle school, my friends and I were practically obsessed with MHA. We would talk about it all the time and make ocs. Hawks is one of my favorite pro heros from the series, so I wanted her to be related to him somehow. As for her personality, Miu is very much a reflection of me. She also has a few qualities I admire in others and wish I had. I didn't intend for her to be that way, but I guess it's easier for me to write characters that are like me."

Slice of Life Advice

With the end of summer and the beginning of the school term for so many, we have asked our members to provide some advice on managing their time between irl stuff and their various projects.

aBitGrim says: My biggest tip is never cut out your personal time. It doesn't have to be long, but I think it's so very important to always have some time in the day for yourself. And if taking on a new task means you have to cut into some of that time for yourself, you don't have time for it. Your personal time should include sleep, eating, self care, and all the things you do just for yourself. It shouldn't be taken for granted or considered extra time because this time is crucial to avoiding burn outs

FoxyPuff says: I try to find a place where I can work on each thing separately. Unfortunately, all the things I need to do sorta blend into each other. I can't control when I'm inspired lol. I would recommend always writing down ideas when you're inspired. It clears them from your mind and allows you to write it with as much detail as you'd like. You can always come back to it later. I can't tell you how many note sheets I have with dialogue, descriptions, or plot points that I'll need in the future.

sd1229 says: I wish I has better advice but to be honest irl school, work, and familial obligations often drain me and take up so much time that I don't end up writing until I have a break or something. That's just life though. Sometimes the creative stuff gets pushed off.

kyrpto says: navigating the intricate dance between real-life responsibilities and creative pursuits can feel like walking a tightrope. Striking a balance requires some strategic choreography. Begin by mapping out your tasks and establishing a routine that resembles a well-rehearsed routine. Employ time management techniques like the Pomodoro Technique to maintain focus and productivity. Don't hesitate to share the load by seeking assistance from others – teamwork does make the dream work. Be prepared for unforeseen plot twists and remember, even small victories deserve a nod of acknowledgment. With a calculated blend of planning, adaptability, and a touch of realism, you can waltz through the complexities of daily life while keeping your creative spark alive.

B3r1itz says: I mainly prioritize my responsibilities and leave my writing to be worked on whenever I have free time or a few hours before bed. I would say plan your life events first before focusing on your creative work; create a weekly schedule if you have to.

Our Pro Heroes of the server; JunieWeathers, aBitGrim, and FoxyPuff; would like to open up the space to ask them questions. If you have a question for them, feel free to ask and they will provide their best answers!

Q: If you like it, how do you prefer your pizza (crust, toppings, style, etc)?

Junie: I love Chicago style pizza! A close second is hand tossed. I love eating the crust like breadsticks. My favorite toppings would have to be tomatoes, mushrooms, and banana peppers.

Foxy: I really enjoy a thinner crust (New York style/hand-tossed) if I'm gonna have pizza. My favorite regular style would be a margherita pizza. But I also enjoy a white pizza with beef, garlic and onions.

Q: What's your go to comfort food?

Junie: Hot chocolate, cookies, and chocolate are my go to comfort food. You can never go wrong with them.

Foxy: Jalepeño chips have my entire soul, and I could eat an entire bag in one sitting. But I can also go to town on a lava cake when I need some comfort.

Future Events

With fall coming around, our members are looking forward to OC-tober and all the prompts that will come with it. This year, our event will return to the roots of the celebration with drawing prompts as well as special events for the artists on the server.
