TJs POV

I had become a lot closer with Cyrus' friends these past 3 weeks. It was great to be able to be myself around them, considering I was still technically in the closet. Yes, that did mean Cyrus and I couldn't always be all "cutesy and coupley", as Buffy phrased it, at school, but Cyrus was good about it all. He would always be patient and tell me that there would be a right time.

What had been in the front of my mind the past couple days, however, was that the two of us still hadn't kissed. Yes, I would constantly give him kisses on his forehead or cheek, even his nose, but we hadn't actually kissed. I wasn't going to push him or anything, I just want to be sure that he actually wants to be with me.

Anyway, I was on my way to lunch to go sit with Cyrus when my team stopped me.
"Okay TJ, what is going on with you?"
Louis asked me, putting his hand in front of me.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, you have been very secretive, missing practices, not coming to all the team hangouts. Does this have something to do with that Cyrus kid?"
"What? No! What are you talking about, I've just been busy, that's all."
"TJ, teammates are honest with eachother."

Well, I guess this was "the  right time" Cyrus was talking about.
"Okay, Cyrus and I are- are...."
"Just say it man!"
Wes demanded
"Dating"
That earned me dumbfounded looks from the whole team. After a solid thirty seconds of them staring at me while I stood awkwardly, avoiding eye contact, Austin spoke up.
"What the fuck man?! We can't have someone like that on our team!"
Shit. This is exactly what I was afraid of.
"Yo! Austin! Not cool man!"
Louis shouted back at him.
"Love is Love, alright. If TJ likes boys, there ain't nothing you can do about it."
He retorted angrily, slipping back into his natural southern accent as he usually did when he was fired up. I stood there in shock as the rest of the team sided with Louis, glaring at Austin.
"Fags"
I heard him snap as he walked away.
"Thanks guys"
I said gratefully. Louis put his hand on my shoulder
"I meant was I said, man. Love is love, you guys are cute."
I smiled, thanking them all again as they let me leave to go sit with my boyfriend.
Wes sent me finger guns and a wink as I wrapped my arm around Cyrus' shoulder.
I choked back a laugh, turning to talk to Cyrus.

"So, how has your day been, muffin?"
I questioned quietly, giving him a kiss on his forehead. He sent me a questioning look.
"TJ...you don't have to do this."
"I know, but I realized something. There are always going to be people who don't approve of us, heck I haven't even told my parents yet, but there will also be people who do. And as long as I have them, I'll be fine. And besides"
I gave his shoulders a light squeeze.
"I want to show you off"
I watched in triumph as I successfully made Cyrus' cheeks light up a bright red.
"Ahem! Love birds! We exist too"
Buffy called from across the table.
"Buffy! Let them have their moment!"
Andi whined. I chuckled, handing Cyrus his chocolate chocolate chip muffin that o had picked up.
"Thank you"
I whispered happily. Mission accomplished.
