( Later that day)

I swung open my front door, stepping inside and setting my keys down on the small table next to the door.
"I'm home!"
I called, with a smile on my face, knowing what was coming.
"TJ!!!!"
I heard my siblings shout as the four of them came stampeding down the stairs.
"Hey guys"
I crouched down, arms open for hugs.
"Hey little bro, how was your day?"
Amber asked from the stairs and I was tackled in four hugs.
"Pretty good, how bout you?"
"Oh, it was a whole lot man. Iris went out with Jake, who was me EX BOYFRIEND. Can you believe that?!"
I fake gasped
"No, bETRAYAL!"
She jumped off the stairs, walking over to me to smack my arm playfully.
"Seriously though, I'm sorry about that. Just try to be supportive. Okay?"
"Ha, yeah yeah, sure"
She retorted, with a slight giggle in her voice.

"TJJJJJJJJ"
I youngest sister whined
"Yes, Lilly?"
"Come play with ussssss"
I chuckled, following her lead as she grabbed my hand and dragged me upstairs.
"What are you all playing"
"Amber wath playing pirateth with uth."
Leo told me, with his lisp prominent. I had told mom we had to get him speech therapy before he started first grade, but she was busy and it was normally just Amber and I home with the kids.
"Arrrrr, shiver me timbers, what role do I get to play?" I asked in a pirate voice, scooping him up as he squealed and giggled.
"You're the bad guy. You have to try to get the treathure before we can find it."
"X marks spot mateys"
They all screamed, running in opposite directions.
"Well, you certainly know how to rile them up"
Amber teased from he spot in the doorway.
"Hey, uh. Can we talk later, just the two of us. You know, after I put the kids to bed"
"Yeah, sure"
She replied, giving me a knowing look. Amber was the only on in my family who knew that I was gay, and it wasn't uncommon for the two of us to chat late at night about boy drama.

"TJJJJJ!!"
Artie called from the corner of the room, where he had a foam sword brandished in my direction.
"Ye shall never get the treasure!"
I called back. I love this family, minus my parents that is.

About an hour after of screaming and running, the kids all crashed. Each one of them was now sprawled out on the floor. That is, until Lilly got up, pulling on the hem of my shirt.
"TJ"
She asked quietly
"Yes?"
"Where is your friend?"
"My friend?"
"Uh huh. S-ss-..."
I laughed silently at how hard she was trying to remember.
"Cyrus"
I whispered so she could have the satisfaction of telling me.
"CYRUS!"
She yelled. I pressed my finger to my lips, reminding her to use her inside voice.
"Cyrus is still my...friend. Don't worry"
I reassured her, my siblings had only met him once, but they had instantly become attached.
"I wa-wa-want to see himmmm"
She whined, tears pricking at the corner of her eyes.
"Shh shh, don't cry. You can see him again soon."
"But TJJJJJ"
"I'll see what I can do, alright sweetheart?"
I cooed, giving her a small hug and a kiss on her head. The second she had gone to lay down, I got my phone to call Cyrus.
