Chapter 35.

Tylorie was going stir crazy, a broken arm was nothing to keep someone in bed but the nurses insisted she needed to rest.

She had never rested in her life, and she didn't believe she had any reason to start now.

As much as she was mad at staying in bed, it wouldn't have been as bad if she could see Dallen, or even speaking to someone on his behalf because there was no one to talk to in that stupid hospital room.

She knew she more than not would be able to continue with her life normally after this, but what would happen to Dallen?

He wasn't a part of or affiliated with the country in any good way like she was. If anything they would arrest him as the leader of an organization much like the one they took down, at least maybe it was. She didn't know, she didn't know anything of much importance about Dallen's life, which frustrated her beyond no end.

"He's not guilty." Jent tried to convince the council that was going on to decide the detained people's fate.

"And is there any proof behind that statement?" one of the important guys asked.

"Or is it just sentimental attachment that has clouded your judgement?" another expounded.

"You have known me for how many years?" Jent reasoned "When have I ever let sentiment get in the way of justice?"

"He does have a point sir" said one man.

"But do you have any proof that this Dallen fellow is innocent?" another countered.

"Gentlemen, gentlemen," the in charge guy interrupted, "I think you are missing a crucial point..."

The room grew silent.

"A man is innocent until proven guilty, on top of that we have a witness" he motioned to Jent "who happens to be one of our most trusted sources of information, who says that he is not guilty."
The room was still silent for a moment after that.
"In that case I rule him not guilty and suggest we continue on to more pressing matters."

No one spoke against the decision, so the council moved onto discuss the other prisoners.

Dallen paced the room he'd been given, it didn't look like a cell, but it felt like one.

They were keeping him there until they figured out what to do with him, which was never a good place to be. To top it all off, he hadn't seen Tylorie since she'd gone off with that doctor dude she had called Mark. True it had only been a day, but what was he to think?

His life had never been easy, or gone according to plans, but for once he wished that some way things would come out okay. That he could maybe have the happiness he so briefly felt in the cell with Tylorie.

He tried laying down but nothing worked, he was as restless as he had ever been.

As soon as he laid down he heard the loud chink of the bolt on the other side of the door unlocking and turned to find Jent in the doorway, the same casual look on his face as the last time Dallen had seen him.
