Chapter 33.
Tylorie didn't have to wait long before the organization made it's plans known.
As soon as Dallen was recovered, a guard -not the same silent guard thay had gotten used to- came to fetch them out of their cell. Even though he wasn't necessarily silent, all he would say was: "Silent!" if they asked questions or spoke in general.
Tylorie was kind of frustrated about it, but what could she expect? These people weren't nice.
The gruff guard shoved them into a fighting arena looking area.
It was pretty good sized, and all around the edge was a tall fence with barbed wire on top.
"Like they wouldn't kill us if we tried to escape anyway." Thought Tylorie derisively.
The only spectators were up in a tower room that had floor to ceiling windows, making it easy for them to watch what was happening below.
A voice came over a loud speaker, explaining what they were expected to do. "..the loser leaves."
Both prisoners realized the implications quite clearly, making eye contact, plans both brewing behind intelligent eyes.
"Begin!" the speaker blared.
Tylorie and Dallen both crouched down into fighting positions.
"So, what do you want to do?" Dallen whispered so the others couldn't hear.
"What do I want to do?" Tylorie expostulated, "What do you think!"
Dallen smirked "So you're ready to lose again?"
"That's not what I said." Tylorie countered.
If she beat Dallen and got him out of here she could find a way to escape without worrying about his safety.
Of course there was no reason to trust the organization, and she couldn't figure out why they were pitting them in a fight together. Unless it was for entertainment, in that case maybe they shouldn't even go along and fight.
What could the Organization do if they refused? Beat them? Torture them? They had already done that.
But then again, if there was a small chance to get Dallen out, and release some pent up frustration by fighting, she wasn't going to miss the chance.
Tylorie threw the first punch, catching Dallen somewhat off gaurd.
"Oh, so we're actually doing this." after dodging her hit, then gave one of his own.
If she wanted to fight then they would fight, but that didn't mean that he would let her win like he knew she most likely wanted to.
She wasn't too stupid to not realize that the Organization rarely kept their promises. And weighing the circumstances, fighting didn't sound like too bad of an idea, if only to occupy his time.
Both had to be wary of the other's attacks. More than once they had let there gaurd down and had gotten hit in some very damaging places.
They wouldn't stop fighting, so it went on and on, each coming up with more strategies to maybe get a slight edge over the other, never quite getting there, and wearing themselves out beyond all measure.
Dallen realized, that in order to win, he'd have to beat Tylorie to the point she couldn't stand up, anything less and she'll still continue. As much as it was good to know she wanted to protect him to that extent, it was also maddening he had to hurt her that much so he could protect her.
With both of them so exhausted, the fight would have to end soon. But they were both so stubborn it was well impossible to tell who the winner would be.
Dallen picked up Tylorie and threw her against the fence.
There was a loud cracking noise as she fell to the ground.
The noise made Dallen wince in regret.
Tylorie couldn't move her arm, the pain was explosive. She tried to get up, but without the use of her arm and the pain so bad she could hardly think, it was impossible.
She layed there for a while, wishing her body would listen to her brain, all she could do was wait.
The loud speaker announced Dallen as the winner, but he hardly took notice as he rushed to Tylorie's side.
Kneeling down by her he asked "Are you okay?" feeling useless that he didn't know what to do.
"Do I look okay!" she gritted through the pain, "of all the numbskulled things to say!"
"There has been a slight change of plans," the voice over the loud speaker announced, "the winner now gets to go free."
As the words sunk into Dallen's mind he was filled with dread.
