Chapter 32.

Dallen woke up one night, or the time him and Tylorie had ended up alloting for sleeping, unable to sleep because of the chill within the cell.

Looking over to where he heard Tylorie breathing he saw her curled up on the bare cement floor.

When she had made him more comfortable to dress his wounds, she had moved him to the closest thing to a mattress within the cell. It was not in very good condition, but it afforded a little insulation from the cold floor. She had also stacked the scant amount of moth eaten blankets that existed in the cell on him.

He felt guilt as she had done all this for him, yet he couldn't sleep. And she was dozing in the sweetest way with nothing to protect her from the cold but her clothes.

In this moment of guilt induced compassion, he forgot he was still quite weak when he crept out of bed and made his way over to Tylorie. He gently lifted her into his arms, straining slightly but he ignored the pain and brought her over to the makeshift bed.

He tucked her in next to him, the blankets making only a faint shield against the cold.

------------------------------------

Tylorie stirred,  she didn't want to wake up, she was too warm and cozy.

She kept her eyes closed for a while and just enjoyed the warmth. Until her brain decided to actually function and wonder where this warmth she was so enjoying, came from.

Opening her eyes, it took them a short while to adjust the the small amount of light in the room.
There was enough light though, to see what she could only attribute to being Dallen, asleep and hugging her like she was some sort of childrens stuffed toy.

She didn't want to wake him, he looking so peaceful and she knew how hard it was for him to fall asleep. But she was uncomfortable with the amount of affection he was unknowingly giving her.

Squirming a bit, she tried to gently sneak out of his grasp. But apparently she was a most beloved stuffed toy, one that could never leave unless it banged it's child over the head.

She wasn't going to bang him over the head, but her self sacrifice for his comfort only went so far.

Just as she was about to wake him he stirred and blinked his eyes open.

Suddenly they were much closer than she had originally thought.

"Good morning." He whispered, ignoring the scowl on her face and sent her a smile.

She tried to, but she couldn't seem to stay mad at that face.
Not that she would tell Dallen that, though she couldn't help the smile that came onto her face at his.

"I love you." The words just came out, he didn't plan them. But once they were there the silence that followed was almost glass like.

She didn't want to break it, to shatter the perfect moment. But she had to make sure this wasn't a dream, make sure she hadn't heard wrong.
"You - you what?" Barely loud enough to be heard, but Dallen heard it. They were so close to eachother, he heard it.

The shock of finally admitting his feeling had started to wear off and all of his repressed feelings bubbled up inside of him. All reasoning flew out the window only leaving happiness.

A metephorical window, it has already been established that there were no windows in the cell.

"I love you." He said again, "I love you." The facts coming to rest on them.

The fragileness of his words had been worn off and Tylorie was filled with so much happiness.

"This had better not be a dream." She said before kissing him without any warning.

When they broke away to catch their breaths Dallen asked, "Does that mean you love me back?" almost hesitant, his proud demeanor almost not apparent.

"Of course I love you, you idiot." she said, shaking her head in amusement at his antics.

Dallen then got a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Then you won't mind if I do this." and this time he kissed her. The world seemed like the happiest place for Dallen then, a happiness he couldn't remember feeling, ever.

Afterwards they just snuggled together, not wanting to leave their little bubble of happiness.

All the time they had spent, not letting themselfs be happy for one reason or another, now seemed pointless as they took comfort in eachother's arms, ready to face their fears together instead of hiding them from the other.

"Not a word to anyone." Tylorie threatened, norrowing her eye's at Dallen.

He put his hands up in amused surrender, a barely concealed smirk upon his lips. "I won't tell if you won't." Thinking about how his men would react if they saw this side of him.

---------------------------------

The silent guard continued to deliver supplies in the mornings of Tylorie and Dallen's days. The continued conduct sparked Tylorie's suspicions.

They had to be planning something. There were no other visitors for the weeks since Dallen was returned, no one to come and taunt them and reveal motives at the same time.

All she could do was wait, but this kept her on edge.
