Chapter 6 ~ Unexpected Visitors

The Death Eaters attacking the campsite was all over the Daily Prophet. Mrs. Weasley was so relieved once she saw all of us walk in through the door. She hugged all of us tightly and let us go upstairs. Somehow, all of our stuff didn't get burned to ashes and it was waiting for us in our rooms. I was happy that none of my letters from Sirius got burned. I wanted to keep them.

"Well, that was a fun trip," Ron said as we entered his bedroom. "What do you think, guys?"

"I thought the trip was very eventful," I replied.

"Way to be negative, Max," Ron scoffed.

"Well, when you have a bunch of Death Eaters coming after you, 'fun' isn't the first word that pops into your mind," I told him as I walked past him and plopped onto his bed.

"Hey, they were after me, too, you know," Harry added. "Besides, aren't you forgetting about your kiss with Cedric?"

I groaned and stuffed my face in a pillow. "Ugh, can't you guys just drop it already?"

"Why? Was it not worth your while?" Ron smirked.

"Do you guys like to torture me?" I asked them.

"We just wanted to know what it was like," Hermione answered this time.

"I've already told you about a hundred times now that it was good. Why do you guys keep asking me about it? It's not that big of a deal."

It was true. So it was my first kiss, what was the big deal? Hermione was never going to kiss him. Not trying to be mean, but I didn't think she would ever get a chance to kiss him. And it wasn't like Harry or Ron wanted to kiss him. Unless there was something that I didn't know about.

"Sorry, Max, but having a guy like Cedric kiss someone like you is kind of a big deal," Harry told me.

What the hell did he say? "And what is that supposed to mean?" I asked him in an irritated tone. Was he really bashing me like that?

"Well, he's a popular guy, Max. And here you are, hanging out with blood traitors and Muggle-borns."

"Why should that matter? Even if you guys were in Slytherin, I don't think Cedric would care. He likes me for me, Harry! And I feel the same way. I wish you could get your head out of your arse for once. Then maybe you'd understand." I stood up from the bed and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind me.

I just couldn't believe that Harry would say that about Cedric. He was a good person, unlike certain people like Malfoy. Cedric liked me for me. He might've been a popular guy, but that shouldn't matter once we became a thing. That was if we ever became a thing. I huffed a sigh and walked into Ginny's room. She wasn't in there, so she wouldn't mind if I was in there. So I grabbed my stuff from outside, put them beside her door, and collapsed on the bed.

I started thinking about Cedric and how nice he was to me at the Quidditch match. He didn't seem like someone who would ditch me because I was at the bottom of the social chain. I knew that there was one at Hogwarts.

I wanted to tell Sirius about all of this, but Harry was probably going to tell him. About the kiss, the Death Eaters, and our argument. Plus, it would take him quite some time to write back, since he was still on the run. Screw Harry, I'd just do it later. My next plan was to just sit in bed and continue thinking about Cedric, but my thoughts were interrupted by the sound of people laughing and talking coming from downstairs. I left the room and crept quietly to the top of the stairs. It was Mr. Diggory and Cedric.

Everyone was still in their rooms, so I was the only one that knew he was here. Then he started heading upstairs. I backed away from the stairs and leaned against the wall. I looked down at my feet and started playing with my hair when he came up. I didn't say anything or move from where I was standing. After a while, he cleared his throat and I looked up at him, smiling. He smiled back as I moved a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"Hey," I spoke up.

"Do you always get nervous around me?" he asked.

"No," I lied. I felt my cheeks turn red when he asked me that question.

"You're a terrible liar," he chuckled.

I covered my face while he laughed at me. He came up to me and moved my hands from the face and kissed me. Since no one was around, our kiss was longer than the one at the match. As I was kissing him back, he pushed me against the wall and started to kiss me harder. After about ten more seconds, I pulled away from the kiss and looked away from him.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"What are we?" I asked him.

Cedric looked confused. "I'm not sure what you're asking me."

"We both had fun at the match, we shared a few kisses, and that's it. Does that make us, like, friends or something?"

He chuckled. "I want to be more than that. I want you to be my girlfriend."

I stood there, speechless from the last sentence he just said. He wanted me to be his girlfriend? Was he just joking around when he said that? Did he have word vomit and it just came out? What was I supposed to say to that? I never had a boyfriend before and we just met yesterday. I was still new with the whole relationship thing. But I really liked him! I didn't want to ruin our friendship by saying no when it was obvious that we both had feelings for each other.

"You like me?" I asked him in a surprised tone.

"Well, isn't it obvious?" he chuckled. "I've been sending you signals ever since I laid eyes on you. Why did you think I made that bet with you? I asked for a kiss, remember?"

At this point, I didn't know what to say. And me being stupid, I said the first thing that came out of my mouth. "So it was, like, eye sex?" Damn word vomit.

Cedric began to laugh. "That's an interesting way to put it." I blushed at his comment. "So, will you?"

"But we just met."

"I know, but I really like you, Max Potter."

I bit my lower lip and nodded. "Okay."

Cedric smiled and kissed me again. Our kiss was interrupted by the sound of Mr. Diggory's voice coming from downstairs. "Cedric! Let's go, boy!"

He turned back to me and grinned. "See you at school." He gave me a quick kiss on the lips and headed downstairs. He turned back and smiled at me one last time. I waved at him and leaned my head against the wall, smiling like an idiot. Someone was coming out of Ron's room because I heard the door open. I was still looking at the stairs, grinning like an idiot.

"He asked you out, didn't he?" It was Harry.

I turned over to look at him and nodded. "Yeah, he did, and I said yes."

"I'm happy for you. Really, I am," he said. "I'm sorry for saying those things about him and you."

I nodded again. "It's okay. I know you didn't mean it."

Harry pulled me in for a hug and I hugged him back. As much as I wanted to tell him how I really felt when he said all those things, I decided to just keep my mouth shut. It wasn't worth the fighting again. I pulled away from the hug and gave him a weak smile.

"You want to come back to Ron's room?" Harry asked.

I shook my head. "I think I'll just go back to Ginny's room and read." I started heading back to her room.

"Okay, I'll see you at dinner, then," he said before he went back into Ron's room.

*******

It had been two hours since I spoke to Harry. I was surprised that dinner wasn't ready yet. But then again, I was glad because I wasn't really hungry. For two whole hours, I was able to concentrate on reading my book that Muggles read, Frankenstein (all thanks to Hermione for introducing me to such books). But the voices that were coming from downstairs stopped me from reading. In fact, it sounded like people were yelling. I put my book down and left the room, going to the top of the staircase, which was where everyone was at.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Malfoy and his father are here," Hermione told me. "Something must've happened during the attack on the campsite."

The attack. The Death Eaters? I didn't remember seeing Lucius and Draco during the attack. Or maybe they were one of them. No way. That wasn't possible. Well, I could see Lucius being one, but Draco? I couldn't see him in a mask and killing people. I knew that somewhere, deep down in Draco, that he was a good guy. The others didn't see that, but I did. The night he helped me heal my back said something, didn't it? I knew I was never going to fall in love with him. I was smarter than that to do something crazy like that. But being his friend sounded nice.

"Where's Potter?" I heard Lucius ask Mr. Weasley in a demanding tone. "I want to see her. Now."

Everyone looked at me. I looked at them in confusion. "What?"

"Aren't you gonna go down there?" Ron asked.

"Not unless your dad tells me otherwise," I replied.

"Max! Some people are here to see you!" Mr. Weasley called out.

"Shit," I muttered under my breath.

"You and your wife can leave us three alone now," Lucius said, not taking his eyes off me when I came downstairs. The two left the room, leaving me, Lucius, and Draco alone. "Did you have a nice time at the match?"

"Yeah, I did, actually. Thanks for asking. I bet you and Draco had fun, too, you know, killing people," I snapped.

"Are you assuming that Draco and I are Death Eaters?" Lucius asked, sounding appalled by my question.

"No, of course not! Why would I make an assumption like that? Oh, wait, I know why! Because you work for the man that killed my parents, I'm sure! Does that little detail not ring a bell to you?" I raised my eyebrows at him and crossed my arms.

"Father, are you really going to let her talk to you like that?" Draco asked his father.

"Oh, please, Malfoy. Like he's gonna do anything to me," I said. Well, actually, he had done things to me. I was really starting to hate word vomit.

"Really? Because I recall him doing many things while you were at--"

"Draco! Not here! No one is supposed to know about that!" Lucius scolded at him. He turned back to me, giving me a glare. I rolled my eyes at him and his stupidity. He really was an idiot. Both of them were. "Let's go, Draco. I think we're done here." Lucius gave me one last glare and walked out the door.

Draco was still looking at me. He came over to me and looked at me for a second. "See you at school," he said. Then he started walking out the door.

"Unfortunately," I muttered under my breath. Just my luck, he heard me.

He stopped in his place and turned around, looking back at me. "I saw the way you looked at Diggory the other night. I bet you're expecting something from him. Think again, Potterette. He doesn't fall for worthless bitches like you." With that, he left the room, following his father.

I had no idea why he said that. But obviously, he didn't know everything that happened that night. Because now, I was his girlfriend, and Draco was too blind to see that someone didn't think that I was worthless. One day, he would see that.

Maybe.

A/N: Hey, y'all!

I'd like y'all to know that  yes, I know Cedric and Max have only known each other for a day and now they're going out. I am telling you right now that Max is FOURTEEN and Cedric is almost SEVENTEEN, so their relationship will be immature (with some toxicity), like how some first time relationships are (since this is Max's FIRST EVER relationship).

Someone pointed this out as a comment in a later chapter, but Max will see this relationship through rose-colored glasses. Cedric is the first one to show her any type of attention in a flirty and loving/romantic way, so of course Max will not see any problems with it.

So comment, vote, and tell me how amazing I am. ;) Byeee!
