Chapter 2 ~ Meeting Cedric

Please don't make fun of the graphic above, or any graphics for that matter. That is rude and disrespectful. A lot of these were made for me a long time ago and I still like them and appreciate the person that made it for me. If you have nothing nice to say about them, then don't comment. It's not that hard to be nice.

We were still tired from waking up early as Harry, Ron, and I were lagging behind on the walking. I only stayed behind just to talk to Harry about this summer, but I didn't want to tell him about it with Ron around. If he ever found out, who knew what he would do to Malfoy. It would be funny, but not worth it in the end.

"Ron, where are we going?" Harry asked.

"Don't know," he replied. "Hey, Dad! Where are we going?"

"Haven't the foggiest! Keep up!" Mr. Weasley yelled back at Ron.

"Great, we're gonna get lost," I said.

I looked up to see a man by a big tree ahead of us, smiling and waving at us.

"Morning, Arthur! It's about time, son!" he shouted!

"Morning, Amos!" Mr. Weasley replied. "Sorry, some of us had a bit of a sleepy start." Ron yawned at this. "Everyone, this is Amos Diggory. Works with me at the Ministry."

We all looked at the man as he smiled and waved at us this time. All of a sudden, someone jumped from a tree and landed on his feet. That had to be Cedric. "And this strapping, young lad must be Cedric, am I right?"

"Yes, sir," he replied, flashing a smile.

I took a good look at Cedric and let me just tell you how cute he was. His smile was absolutely amazing and his hair wasn't messy, but it wasn't a fancy style either. And that was how I liked it, plain and simple.

Hermione and Ginny were whispering and giggling while still looking at Cedric, thinking that he was looking at them. But he wasn't. He was looking at me. He smiled at me and I smiled back. He was freaking cute.

"Merlin's beard! You two must be Harry and Max Potter!" Amos said as we approached him and Cedric.

We both smiled and nodded awkwardly. "Yes, sir," we both said at the same time.

Amos and Cedric chuckled at us. Mr. Diggory shook our hands as well. "Great, great pleasure." He turned and looked at Cedric. "Cedric, she's a fine, young lady. You think she's cute?"

I blushed a little when Cedric smiled at me again. I was really hoping that he didn't notice. Harry and Mr. Diggory started walking along with the others, which left me walking with Cedric.

"Sorry about my father," he spoke up. "He likes to embarrass me in front of girls."

"Oh, it's okay." I laughed. "My father would've done the same thing, you know, if he was here right now," I said, making my smile disappear.

Cedric looked as if he said the wrong thing. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to--"

"No, it's okay. I get it a lot, anyway, so it's not new for me," I cut him off.

"I'm Cedric, by the way," he spoke up, putting out his hand for a shake.

"Max." I smiled and shook his hand. His warm, warm hand.

"I know who you are. Max Potter, The-Girl-Who-Lived." He smiled.

Well, I felt dumb now. "Right, what was I thinking?" I laughed and blushed at the same time. He was so cute and I was being a complete idiot in front of him.

"So, you're a fourth year?" he asked.

"Yeah, you're a sixth year, right?" I asked.

He nodded, "I can't believe it. Feels like yesterday that I was being sorted into Hufflepuff. You in Gryffindor as well?"

"Yeah." I laughed. "Harry and I are twins, of course. Why wouldn't we be in the same House?"

"Well, sometimes, twins aren't always put into the same House," he informed me.

I nodded at him, feeling stupid again. "I didn't know that. That's very...interesting."

Cedric chuckled. "You're funny, you know that?"

I smiled. Then, he smiled back. It was the perfect moment for us. Hermione and Ginny were going to be so jealous about this. That was, if I was planning on telling them, which I wasn't, and I was not going to tell Harry, either. I knew that he was my brother and I always told him everything. But he didn't need to know about my love life.

We all walked a long way and ended up on a hillside. At the top of the hill, there it was. A mangy, old boot. I didn't know why it was there, but it was something important to the adults.

"We don't want to be late. We're nearly there now. Get yourself into a good position," Mr. Diggory told us.

Good position? What the hell was he talking about? Everyone else seemed to get it but Harry and I. They were all circling the boot, finding a good place to be. So we just followed everyone else.

"Why are they all standing around that mangy, old boot?" Harry asked the twins.

"That isn't just any mangy, old boot." Fred replied.

"It's a Portkey," George added.

"Time to go!" Mr. Weasley yelled.

However, Harry and I were still confused. "What's a Portkey?" I asked them as we got down on our knees.

"Ready! After three. One, two..."

"Harry! Max!" Mr. Weasley yelled at us.

"...three!"

We quickly grabbed onto the boot and started spinning around in circles. I thought I was about to puke my guts. But thankfully, I didn't.

"Let go, kids!" Mr. Weasley told us.

"What?!" Hermione yelled.

"Are you mad?!" I asked him.

"Let go!" he yelled again.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, Ginny, and I all let go of the Portkey and started falling. In no time, we all saw grass and fell to the ground hard. I groaned in pain, since I landed on my back. That was where most of my bruises were located.

"Max, you okay?" Harry asked me.

"Yeah, I think so. You?"

"Same."

We looked up and saw Mr. Weasley, Mr. Diggory, and Cedric walking on air. They made me feel stupid, very stupid.

"I'll bet that cleared your sinuses, eh?" Mr. Weasley chuckled.

"Yeah. Because that was the whole point of that fall," I muttered.

Cedric helped Harry up, then he came over and helped me up. I groaned at the pain coming from my back. Cedric seemed to notice. "You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," I replied. But as soon as I said that, I got back down on my knees.

"Woah, Max!" He got down beside me. "What is it? You're not gonna throw up, are you?"

I shook my head. "Just give me a minute." Chills went down my spine when he started rubbing my back.

Once I was finally okay, he helped me up again. "You sure you're okay?"

"Yeah. I get dizzy at times. Mostly when I fall like that. You need to teach me that walking thing."

Cedric chuckled. "I will. I promise."

We caught up with the others and we walked up another hillside. But this time, there was no Portkey and thank Merlin for that. Instead, we were at a campsite and it looked like everyone was there. It looked more like a festival to me.

"Well, kids, welcome to the Quidditch World Cup!"

There was a bunch of shouting and cheering. It was like a circus and a carnival all at once. It was crazy. Hermione, Ginny, Ron, Harry, and I were too busy looking around to catch up with everyone else.

Mr. Diggory and Cedric were heading off to their tent. Before they left, everyone said bye to Cedric. But he turned around and waved at me, ignoring everyone else. "See you later, Max." He smiled at me, then went with his father.

I started smiling like an idiot. And everyone noticed it. "Does somebody have a crush on Cedric?" Fred and George asked with both of them on each side of me, grinning.

I looked at them and blushed. "Shut up. I just met him, you idiots." They started laughing at me as I walked away from them.

Mr. Weasley led us to a small tent, barely enough to fit three people. He opened the tent and pointed inside to let everyone in. "Home sweet home."

Everyone reluctantly went inside as Harry and I just looked at each other in confusion. But we followed everyone else inside and were astonished at what we saw. The inside of the tent looked like a miniature version of the Burrow.

"Girls, choose a bunk and unpack." I ignored Mr. Weasley, still looking at what was in front of me with my mouth wide open. Harry was doing the same thing. Around us, everyone was messing around and being yelled at by Mr. Weasley.

"Get out of the kitchen, Ron! We're all hungry!"

"Yeah, get out of the kitchen, Ron!"

"Feet off the table!"

"Feet off the table!"

Ahh, the twins. Gotta love them. But besides that, we still couldn't believe what we saw. Hell, we were even standing on it! It was pretty amazing, if you asked me.

"I love magic," Harry and I said at the same time. We both looked at each other and laughed.
