Breath
breath you are so heavy now
so heavy i cant hold on
have no strength left
to carry on
so leave me here alone
every step forward
I'm loosing,
loosing what I've own
only tears and
blood that runs in my veins
know how I bear up the gone
now, I hear him
calling my name
his voice echoes in silent planes
I see those blinking eyes like stars
I wanna feel that warmth again
so breath, leave me here alone
tell them that I'm gone
I'll rest on the cold grass
from now on
to meet him before the dawn
Some depressing evening in mid 2020...
She had always fancied the feeling of morning dew on grass blades. They were beautiful like glass pearls, delicate and fleeting, catching the first light of dawn in their fragile embrace. The way the dew seemed to shimmer in the early morning sun had always filled her with a quiet, wistful yearning.
Now, as she lay on the meadow, the weight of her body sinking into the cold, damp earth, she wondered if she, too, looked as magical as the grass adorned with dew. Her breaths were shallow, each exhale a soft whisper against the wind. The pain had ebbed away, leaving her with a tranquil acceptance.
The sky above was a starry expanse, but tonight, it was moonless. The stars were scattered like diamonds on an endless black velvet canvas, their light distant and serene. It was a sky that seemed to hold secrets and promises, a perfect backdrop to her final journey.
She closed her eyes, her mind wandering to the warmth she longed to feel again. Her beloved's face appeared in her thoughts, his eyes like constellations in their own right, twinkling with love and a thousand unspoken words. His voice, a soothing echo in the silent expanse, called her name gently, beckoning her toward a reunion she had dreamed of for so long.
Her body felt light and unburdened, it was as if she was merging with the meadow. She imagined herself a part of the delicate beauty she had always admired, as fragile and exquisite as the dewy grass blades she once cherished. The tears and blood, the marks of a life lived and a journey nearly ended, seemed to blend into the landscape, leaving only a peaceful stillness behind.
With a final, tender sigh, she surrendered to the cold grass beneath her. Her spirit reached out to the stars above, seeking the warmth and love she remembered. Soon, she would meet him before the dawn, their souls reuniting in the quiet embrace of eternity, beneath a starry sky that held the promise of a new beginning.
A/N:
The poem is in its original form, no editing, nothing. Cause this is where it all started. This is the very first poem I wrote in English (on 14.06.2020) on a request of a person I used to adore so much.
"Yo, you did English Literature right? Got an A pass right?"
"Um... yeah? Why?"
"Write me a song."
"Eh?"
"Write me a song. To which I'll add music and, well maybe since you can sing too I'll chose you in doing the vocals too. Let's do this."
The dumb me complied and this was the outcome. It was too melancholic for him and he asked me to write something for a dance number instead. Well, we never became the Grammy winning music duo. Instead he went to the med school and I became a writer(of sort). Meh!
