A Thief With A Heartache
I crept through the shadows, my heart on a race,
For in the still of the night, I saw a familiar face.
Her sleeping form, serene, a vision so sweet,
A woman I admired, now in slumber so deep.
I knew it was the woman, of a rich man with a poor heart,
Alone, low on defence, that's why I strike in the dark.
The house is a fortress, built on wealth and stone,
But her solitary grace made me feel I was not alone.
The moon casts a glow on her peaceful repose,
In her tranquil state, I find beauty and woes.
I long to announce my presence, to make her aware,
Yet I fear the moment she'll stir from her lair.
Her hair spills like silk on the pillow's embrace,
In this quiet room, I can't tear my gaze.
I'm tempted to claim her, to whisper her name,
But how can I wake her from dreams unclaimed.
I should be swift, take what I came for,
Yet guilt grips my heart, shakes me to the core.
To steal from her—oh, what a twisted fate,
To rob a life that once held a love so innate.
I'm torn between you, this gold and my pain,
To leave with my spoils or stay, to explain.
I can't turn back baby, a thief is in my veins,
Yet my heart will ache with a sorrow's forever remains.
In the silence, I steal away, heavy with shame,
A thief with a heartache, bound by his name.
For I took more than just silver, more than just gold,
I stole from a dream that once made me whole.
