chapter 23
Nihaal picked up bani's phone, glaring at the name arjun singhania, he called for bani, who was starting to calm down a bit and wipe her tears.
"bani..." called nihaal, his voice stern, as he glared at the name.
"hmm.." turned bani to him, only to immediately snatch her phone from nihaal's hand.
"seriously! what is wrong with you!" yelled bani, as nihaal just glared at her in return.
"why the hell are you talking to this guy!" retorted nihaal, raising his voice even more, as literally everyone else in the ward except equm looked up to them, as baani looked around, completely embarrassed.
"nihaal, why are you making a scene..." whispered bani, for everyone to not here more, as nihaal was just baffled at this point.
"tumhe bhi tang kar raha haina woh?" interrogated nihaal, as bani just uncomfortably looked away.
"bani!"yelled nihaal, as bani just glared at him, signaling him to stop, when they were interrupted by a nurse.
"dekho, i understand, tum logon ke liye difficult situation hai yeh apne bhai ko iss tarah dekhna...but just because he's unconscious, doesn't mean everyone else is not being disturbed. yeh ek hospital hai, please decorum maintain karo, and agar nahi hota, toh bahar jaakar baat karo." instructed the nurse, as bani smiled and nodded, pulling nihaal out from there by his wrist.
By the time they got outside the ward, nihaal got his hand out of her grip.
"bani, seriously, how on earth do you have this guy's number even?" questioned nihaal, as bani just took a long sigh, attempting to figure out what to say to him.
"nihaal, it's...it's complicated..i.." attempted bani to explain herself, but nihaal had enough, already enraged.
"that son of a bitch! i should have known..." muttered nihaal, as bani just raised her brow at him.
"what?" responded bani, completely confused, as nihaal didn't respond just walked away.
"nihaal!" called bani for him, but of no use, he had already left.
she placed her hands on her hips, as she sighed in disbelief, clueless about what was to come.

Ishita, splashed the tapwater on her face another time, looking into the bathroom mirror, she tried to calm herself down. Her glance fell on her mirror reflection, she felt like she was looking at a stranger. She took out the handkerchief from her purse, and started to clean her face, after turning off the tap. she started to wipe her face, when she heard a knock in one of the toilet citadels.
"uhh, do you need some help?" asked ishita, confused, as there seemed to be no response.
ishita started to pack her stuff up and leave, when some response came.
"di..." let out a purvi in a helpless whimper, as ishita was shocked.
"purvi..." called ishita, as she came out of the toilet stall.
Her mascara was spread all around her eyes, giving her an unflattering black eye all over her face. her eyes looked helpless, red from crying for so long. ishita just gave her a hung as an impulse.
"di...i messed up so bad...equm, kavin, sab ki haalat mere kaaran hai..." chocked purvi through her words, as ishita just rubbed her back, consoling her.
"purvi, yeh sab mein tumhari kya galti hai..it's just...you know, they are kids, they get on the wrong path sometimes...we just, have to help them through it...that's our job..." explained ishita, as she started to think about jasmine, what if she went down the same path as her?
"like i did?" asked purvi softly inside the hug, as ishita seperated, cupping her face.
"purvi...you were 16...you found out dad was cheating on mom, and you were confused and mad and too young to know any better...everyone makes mistakes at that age..." assured ishita, as purvi looked down.
"you didn't.." uttered purvi lowly, as ishita was astonished, maybe purvi was wrong.
"you got a job, you supported us, you even got married to bhai for me! and, your children are so great, they are so sweet...i mean, how nihaal looks at you, he just loves you...and i cannot even say it's because i worked, you did too, but, look at you.." expressed purvi her feelings of inferiority over her.
"trust me, i just look like i'm perfect...we all have our own problems, but the good part is, we all can help each other out too.." assured ishita, lovingly patting her cheek, as purvi hugged her again.

Dushyant had his glance fixed on kavin, who lied unconscious on the only bed in that large hospital room, as the doctor talked to dushyant.
"mr khanna, he's out of danger...the good thing was he was attended to early, but i must say, he's in a critical position after this heart attack, he needs to be on complete bed rest this month. not to mention, you need to keep him away from any stress whatsoever." explained the doctor, as dushyant nodded, his glance of concern not getting off kavin.
"so, just be around him, he'll be conscious soon. let me know if there's something wrong." stated the doctor, as he left.
the moment he shut the door, dushyant sat beside kavin.
"saale jab uthega na, itna maarne waala hoon main tujhe! marne ki planning kar raha tha...tujhe kya laga, aisi hi jaane dunga tujhe?" rebuked dushyant, holding back his tears, as his voice started to get chocked up.
"i love you yaar...kuch samajh hi nahi aa raha aaj kal...ho kya gaya hai humein? jasmine gayab hai, equm ki jaan khatre mein thi...aur tu---" dushyant started to break down into tears at this point.
"i know kavin, main bahaut bura bhai hoon..inn saalon mein tujhe bahaut buri tarah se treat kiya hai maine...i made you feel like you are, beneath me, but, the truth is....i'm beneath you kavin. you are all the things i'm not, ek acha beta, bhai, husband, baap...you are this perfect family man and i'm just...someone who tries....and fails, again and again...i just, always knew ki mujhe koi pyaar nahi karega, i'm not worth it. but, jab ishita ko pata chala, dad ki death ke waqt joh maine kiya, she still loved me.....and i loved her so much i even let go of my fear of having a child and not being enough for him and had a child for her. usne mujhe ek family di, but i could never be the dad you were or the husband you were, you just were so good at it and i was just not...i was so jealous of you and apni saari insecurities maine tere upar nikaali, jabki teri toh koi galti bhi nahi thi. I guess, tujhe business mein na acha karne dena, was just a way for me to assure myself ki, there's something i will always be better at than you. but i was wrong, and i'm so sorry....and i promise, when you'll wake up and come back home, i'll be the brother to you i should have been." poured out dushyant his heart, as he wiped off his tears, starting to finally catch his breath, he felt a hand onto his, he looked over to kavin who still had his eyes closed, smiling sheepishly.
"aap hamesha se hi itne dramatic kyun ho...." remarked kavin, as dushyant joyously went to hug him, which he did too, but there was something that really hurted kavin, something he was really guilty about, something bad he had done, something he knew would come back to haunt him.
