Chapter 1: An Abnormal Day For Seol Anna
♡
Seol Anna ~ you
Today was a warm summer day, with a tiny breeze of fall blowing into the bright sunny weather. It was the most normal day that happened with my habits of doing the same activities on and on and on. It's just what I like. And one of my rather unusual habits is liking everything without change.
Change has many different meanings. There's change as in money, or pocket change. Changes in your body is very common for all of us since we all go through puberty. There's also changes in personalities, which sometimes scares me. But the most common change I know of in my sixteen years of living experience is the change that transforms everything into something different.
And I guess I fear that, considering I'm doing something that isn't a normal thing I did with a habit.
Change is where you have to move to join your other family. Change is where you'll miss your hometown and favorite shops or that park that you've been playing in since three years old. Change is where you'll miss your old friends and maybe even some of the kind ajummas and ajusshis in your neighborhood. Change is where you'll leave your house, the one that you were raised in for as long as you remembered. And change is the completely new life that's waiting for you in Seoul.
I didn't like it one bit. Not one muscle or cell in my body was excited once I heard the news from my parents two nights ago. But I can't stop it, despite today being moving day.
And like I said, today was the most normal day you can see for miles away in our town of Busan. I said goodbye to my friends on Friday, but I didn't mean it literally.
And on Friday night, my parents surprised me with the news of moving to Seoul to live with my cousin Hana and my uncle Woo Yeol and aunt Sae Young.
Of course, being the person that disdains changes of almost any kind, I fumed and had a hunger strike. I locked myself in my room for two nights already, plus this morning as well. Today was moving day, so I figured that my parents are going to knock or kick down my door sometime during this hour. I just know it.
I opened my curtains and squinted my eyes at the blinding sun. Light rays spill into my large room, filling it with light for the first time in two days. You can say that I am extremely stubborn, but whatever to keep my family and I here at Busan, I'll do it.
And sure enough, I saw a ginormous moving truck parked outside out house along with a sleek black car that catches the attention of the people who pass by. I forgot to mention that my family is rich, but I just don't like to mention it or brag about it. It's just not me. But my parents on the other hand, love to throw extravagant parties and brag about their daughter, a.k.a. me.
Anyways, by this time, my father came pounding on my bedroom door.
"Anna! Seol Anna!" my father yelled as his voice was muffled as I quickly landed on my bed with a 'PLUNK' and forcefully pressed my ear against my silk pillow.
"You need to get ready to move sweetheart! The movers are already here and we need to leave for Seoul soon! It's already two in the afternoon, and we're supposed to meet your aunt, uncle, and cousin for dinner at six to seven. You know it's almost a four hour drive!" Plus an hour or two for food and bathroom and food breaks." he states, trying to reason with me. I don't answer him.
"Anna? Wake up or I'll open this door myself." he says as I murmur, "Go ahead."
A few quiet seconds later with the noise of jingling keys to be heard, my father is already in my room and patting my head, gently in hopes of waking me up.
"Wake up kimchi, we have to leave. And we can't leave you here in Busan all by yourself."
"Appa, shiro! I don't want to leave..." I moan sadly into my pillow. "Shiro..."
"I know why you don't want to move to Seoul sweetheart. It's hard to be far from home, but Seoul is our real home." my father emphasizes the word 'real.'
"Then can I have some freedom and do what I want and have one tiny present?" I asked with a happy glint in my eyes. There was something I've wanted for so long, but my parents weren't keen on it because they think the world is a too dangerous place for me.
"Only if it's appropriate, I'll do anything for my little kimchi." my father gives me a warm smile.
"Arasso. I'll change. But yakseok-kae." I say as I stretch my pinky out.
'Please promise me dad...' I mentally pleaded.
"Yakseok-kae." we link our pinkies around each other. "Now hurry, your mother would be upset if we won't be downstairs on time."
I nod and hug my dad, and he leaves me alone again. I stretch and do my daily routines, and change into a white t-shirt and long black jeans with black converse, accompanied by a thin black sweater.
'Maybe moving might not be that bad as I think. Maybe there's something good in this new change.' I thought as I brushed my long black hair. I stared at my reflection in the mirror, and I knew that this big change will transform myself as well.
I wanted one last look at myself before it all begins.

Park Chanyeol ~ The First Romeo
I stared outside my car door in search of her. It was a warm summer day, and she usually goes shopping with her friends or to an amusement park with them. I shoot a longing look towards the large entrance doors of New Seoul Mall.
'When is she coming out already?' I thought, sighing. I've had my patience, and I'm getting impatient...
"I'm leaving. Just take the car home Mr. Lee." I say as he nods.
"I'll see you soon young master Park." Mr. Lee says quietly as I exit the car.
I walked towards the doors and as I enter the mall, I heard the whispering and squealing. I knew I was eye-candy to the girls, and it makes me prideful to know that my good looks are appreciated.
With my long legs, I took large strides around the mall in search of Seol Hana. Ah, Seol Hana is the love of my life.
She's the most beautiful person you can ever lay eyes on. She's kind, caring, intelligent, athletic, charming, and any other good qualities in a girl that you can think of.
"And then, he confessed to me on Friday." I recognized her sweet voice. Wait what? Who confessed to Hana?
"Jinja?!" one of her friends asked. "OMO! I can't believe that Jimin from J2L asked you out!" another one of her friends said excitedly.
'Kim Jimin from J2L? He confessed to my beauty? How dare he not know that Hana is mine? That sporty prick should know that already.' I thought angrily.
"But what did you say to him?" her friends asked with interest. "Did you say yes or no?"
'If Hana said yes to Kim Jimin, then I'll die young. But I don't want to die young.' I thought, walking towards the food court, where Hana and her friends were heading.
I follow them to a smoothie shop, and I stand behind them in line. I kept on listening to their conversation, and I waited for her answer.
"I said no." she says in one breath as I sigh in relief.
"That's a relief." I mumbled as Hana turned around to look who was behind her. I nearly widened my eyes as she did, but I had to keep my cool in front of her.
"Oh? Aren't you Park Chanyeol? Annyeonghaseyo oppa." she says with an eye-smile and a tiny bow.
My heart was jumping so hard that it was about to jump out of my body. Her alluring voice enveloped me like a melody, and the sight of her this close made my cheeks turn into tomatoes.
I awkwardly cleared my throat and said, "Hana annyeong. Annyeonghaseyo." I said to the three girls as Hana's friends squealed.
"Chanyeol oppa annyeong!" The two girls said, giggling.
"What are you doing here oppa?" Hana suddenly asked as I fidgeted with my snapback.
"Oh I just came to buy a new snapback and shoes.... B-but I came here to drink something because I was thirsty." I sputtered as the girls giggled.
"Kudo-kuna. Well, it was nice meeting you out of school oppa. Annyeong." Hana said as she and her friends ordered their smoothies.
I overheard their conversation as they head back to the topic of Jimin from J2L asking her out. One of her friends, the one with straightened platinum blonde hair asked that she was lucky to be courted by a 'gorgeous' guy like him.
But around the lines of Hana being scolded her friends for not accepting his confession, I heard that Hana has a cousin named Anna. And she was coming here to live with her.
Interesting.

I stepped out of our sleek black car and took in a deep breath of fresh air. Being cooped up in a car for almost 4-6 hours straight was terrible. Horrible. I had to smell leather from the seats all day, and it was giving me a headache.
I did my best to cooperate with my parents, and dad told mom about my negotiations. I am really lucky to even be out here right now.
I remember how 10 minutes ago, I stated my desires and negotiated with my parents. It was tough, but I got what I wanted.
"Omma, can't I go to places by myself? I heard that the academy is close to Hana's house too! Can't I go to places alone?" I asked as the car came to a stop.
"Yeobo, Anna said that she would only move if we let her have a mini present." Dad chimed as I nodded.
"Fine. But just make sure you don't do anything reckless, and make sure you stay safe. There are cameras and people watching you, especially since your face was on the news." Mom said coldly as I pouted.
"Arraso omma! And omma, who do you think I am? I'm not that troublesome!" I said playfully and raised my right hand. "I, Seol Anna, daughter of Seol Woo Bin and Seol Hye Jung, promises to behave myself in public, stay safe, and come back home in one piece. If I see anyone who is suspicious or dangerous around me when I am alone, I will call my body guards or the police."
Mom nods and then holds my hand. "Main-Ne Anna-yah. Your father and I are just worried about the dangerous people in society today. Stay safe, and come home early, hmm? We need to greet your uncle, aunt, and Hana."
"Ne omma!" I smile and side hug her. I blinked nervously once I saw my dad's straight face. Let the rules begin...
"Young lady, you are to be home at least around 9:00 p.m. sharp. That is the latest time you can return back to your uncle's house, considering that I'm giving you at least two and a half hours to enjoy yourself. I am glad that you came to the decision to move, and I will keep that promise I made. But also, make sure you're always safe-" my father starts as I check my phone.
"Omma, appa, I won't be alone. I forgot to mention that Hana is waiting for me at the mall. She said that she wanted to go shopping with me and to meet her friends and have some fun before summer ended." I said my parents froze.
Dad laughs. "Kimchi, why didn't you say so? Well, still, stay safe, and you have some money with you right? If you don't have enough, appa can give some to you."
"Kwenchana. I can manage. Gomawo omma, appa. Saranghae!" I smiled, hugged my parents, and opened the door.
"Annyeong!" My mother and father chorused.
I waved at the car as it left me behind, and turned around to take a look at the mall. I wanted to capture my first experience and memory of finally being here in Seoul. I snap a picture and post it on my SNS.
| First day in Seoul & spending it with my cousin that I've missed so much. I can't wait to see you! | I typed and posted it with the picture of New Seoul Mall.
I closed my phone and walk towards the large doors. I looked at the directory, and I received a text that my cousin and her two friends were in the food court.
I headed towards the food court and saw her familiar brown hair. I was so jealous when I heard that she dyed it from our jet black color to a softer warm brown color.
My parents are too strict. Sometimes, I wondered what my life would be like if my uncle and aunt were my parents.
I also saw a guy sitting with them as they chatted. I couldn't see who he was because his and Hana's backs were turned on me. But I didn't know that Hana had a boyfriend.
"Hana!" I called as my cousin's eyes lit up.
"Anna!" Hana called, frantically standing up and jogging towards me.
"It's been too long." We both said and laughed. "Jinx!" We said in sync.
Yup, my cousin was still the same. Pretty, perfect, and yet even more perfect from five years before. She's perfect than, and even more now. I just don't know how or why we look similar, but I'm glad we're related.
"I missed you so much! How long has it been, like 5 years?" I asked as she nodded.
"You had to leave me to go back to Busan." Hana pouted. "I couldn't spend time with my sister." She smiled.
"Wait, are you two sisters or cousins?" A girl asked in confusion.
"Both." Hana and I answered, chuckling.
"Don't we look alike?" Hana asked as the two girls nodded.
"We're sisterly cousins." I said as the girls nodded.
"Why don't you introduce yourself cous?" Hana asked and gestured to a seat.
I sat down, and finally saw the face of the man that was sitting next to my cousin. He was a rather cute looking guy, whose face was a mix of a child and teenager. He silently looked at me, then back to Hana, and then back to me.
"They look so alike." I heard him mumble as I smiled.
"That's why we say we're like sisters." I replied as his wide eyes fell on me.
I looked to my cousin, who told me to introduce myself.
"Annyeonghaseyo, I'm Seol Anna, Hana's cousin. I moved from Busan, and.... now I'm here." I said as the four pairs of eyes stared back at me.
"How old are you Anna? Oh and I'm Park Jiyeon. It's nice to meet you." A girl with black wavy hair asked.
"Hi Jiyeon-sshi. I'm sixteen. I'm just a few months older than Hana." I replied as Jiyeon made a face.
"Drop the honorifics, I'm your new friend after all." Jiyeon smiled as a platinum blonde girl spoke.
"Annyeong! Hwang Krystal-mida! Hello friend." Krystal waved cutely as she spoke in English and Korean.
"Hey Krystal, it's nice to meet you." I replied in English.
"Oh my god. You speak English?" Krystal asked in surprise as I nodded.
"Hana and I studied English when we were young for business purposes." I answered in English as she nodded.
"I lived in San Francisco when I was younger with my older sister Jessica."
"Must've been nice. San Francisco's a beautiful city." I commented.
"Mian, but there's un-native English speakers here!" Jiyeon said in Korean as she pouted.
Krystal and I share a chuckle, and my cousin announces that I should eat something before we go shopping.
"It'll be really fun. I hope we can buy some matching things too cous!" Hana quoted.
-
An hour later, Hana has bought bags and bags of clothing, accessories, and makeup. 'She's a fast shopper.' I thought earlier, surprised.
On the other hand, Jiyeon and Krystal went all out as well. The girls were complaining about how much their arms hurt, and called their bodyguards to take their bags home.
I couldn't believe that the girls would do that so openly in public. We caused a lot of surprised looks- I mean they did.
While they almost bought everything they thought were cute, I stuck on splurging myself a little bit.
Sure I bought some new clothes and makeup, but I bought the things I wanted and needed.
Anyways, Chanyeol left earlier. He quietly introduced himself as we both waited for the three other girls. I found out his name of course, and his feelings.
As he was about to leave, he stuttered and turned red as he and Hana conversed.
He gave us all a "G-Good bye" as he sauntered away from us. His walk was cool, but his actions proved otherwise.
It seemed as if the tall guy has a crush on my cousin.
Hmm... Interesting.
-
At exactly 9:00 p.m. sharp [ like I promised my father ], Hana and I arrived at her house. Mom, dad, uncle Woo Yeol, and aunty Sae Young were chatting away in the living room.
My eyes absorbed in the beautiful sights of my new home, and in my view was the scene of open arms and huge toothy smiles.
"Omo! It's Anna!" Uncle and aunty chorused.
"Hello uncle and aunty!" I greeted them as they crushed me with hugs.
"Omma, appa, you didn't forget me, right?" Hana said, pouting as she joined in our group hug.
Hana greeted my parents, and we sat in the living room talking about everything in the past 5 years.
After what was such a short time, it was actually 11:00 p.m.
Hana showed me my new room, which was very much to my liking. The bedroom was painted a light mint green, had a giant white furry carpet covering the cold floor. A queen sized bed was sitting on the right side of the room, accompanied with fluffy pillows and pretty patterned plush blankets and a large teddy bear.
A large black desk was placed in the far middle of the opposite side of the room. A large white vanity table near the desk sat with a mirror and lots of empty separators, boxes, and drawers were all waiting to be filled with makeup products.
I grinned, and explored the door near the bed. Turns out it was a large and (gorgeous!) bathroom.
"Sorry if you don't like it. I did the best I could on designing it." Hana said sheepishly as I smiled.
"It's beautiful. Thanks Hana." I hugged my cousin.
"You're very welcome. I made sure the best of the best was chosen accordingly to your style."
"Then how'd you know that I liked all this?" I asked.
"Well I took the imaginary room we made up when we were little, with the new information on your SNS posts." My cousin states as I look at her in awe.
"You follow me?" I asked as she nodded.
"I'm @Seol.Hana remember?" She asked as I mentally face palmed. I totally forgot to about that.
I thanked my ever so loving cousin and took a selca to capture the memory. We both posted it to our SNS, and within minutes and seconds, we gained many likes and comments.
I checked my New Seoul Mall post, and it's already reached 106K views in the last two hours.
After thanking my cousin once again, I immediately brushed my teeth, changed into my pajamas, and crawled into my new and foreign bed.
So far, it's ok.
It's ok.
