The Party
Elsa's P.O.V.
When I arrived at the ballroom, there were people dancing and playing instruments. It was beautiful. When the trumpets began playing, I knew it was my turn to go up. "Queen Elsa of Arendelle," Kai said, gesturing in my direction. I walked up to the thrones but stood in front of them. Everyone had stopped what they were doing and bowed before me. I stood tall and regal. "Princess Anna of Arendelle," he said, gesturing in her direction this time. She ran, picking up her dress, to the bottom step. This had been the first time in forever since I saw her last. She had grown to be a beautiful young lady.
Kai moved her so that she was standing next to me. "Oh, here? Are you sure? Cause I don't think I'm supposed to- Oh! Okay." She moved away a little and looked down. Everyone stood up and applauded. Gosh I was nervous. I hadn't seen her for 13 years. But I didn't want to keep any friction between the two of us. So I mustered up all of my courage and went for it.
"Hi," I said softly. She jumped back, startled.
"Hi, hi me?" I nodded. "Oh, um, hi." I tried starting a conversation.
"You look beautiful," I said.
"Thank you. You look beautifuller. I mean, not fuller. You don't look fuller. But more beautiful," she said, stuttering a little. She must have been nervous.
I giggled and said, "Thank you." I looked back at all the people. "So, this is what a party looks like."
"It's warmer than I thought," she said. Then I noticed something. A sweet smell.
"And what is that amazing smell?" As we smelled, it was pretty clear.
"Chocolate!" we said together, then giggled at our silliness. Just like the old times. I was thinking about something else to say when Kai interrupted.
"Your majesty, the Duke of Weasletown."
"Weselton!" the short man snapped. "The Duke of Weselton, your majesty. As your closest partner in trade, it seems only fitting that I offer you your first dance as queen." He did a little dance, which was quite unusual, and bowed at the end of the routine. As he bowed, his toupee peeled off. Anna and I giggled but attempted to contain our laughter.
I cleared my throat to snap myself out of it and said, "Uh, Thank you. Only I don't dance." I didn't want to make a fool of myself. I mean, I did know how to dance, just not that good. And I really didn't want to dance with this duke. "But my sister does," I said, gesturing to her. I felt really sorry, but I didn't want to leave him hanging.
"Oh! Lucky you," he said, wrapping his arm around hers.
"Oh I don't think-" But she got pulled away at the last second.
"If you swoon let me know. I'll catch you."
I waved goodbye to Anna and whispered, "Sorry."

Anna came back, fixing the strap of her dress. I chuckled and said, "Well, he was sprightly."
"Especially for a man in heels," she said, rubbing her feet.
I giggled and asked, "Are you okay?"
"I've never been better. This is so nice. I wish it could be like this all the time."
"Me too." Then I remembered the closed gates. After this, I would have to go back into isolation. The reason why my parents had shut the gates in the first place. "But it can't."
"Well why not, I mean-"
"It just can't!" I said, turning away from her, almost irritated by her appearance. I took a deep breath to control myself but stayed there.
"Excuse me for a minute," she said and left.
❄❄❄
"Elsa!" I heard a familiar voice. It must be my sister. I cooled down a bit by talking with my new subjects. I bowed politely and turned to face Anna. She was with a man. Probably just a new friend. "I mean, queen. Me again, um, may I present Prince Hans of the Southern Isles."
"Your majesty," he said and bowed.
"We would like your blessing of our marriage!" they chimed together. They caught me completely off guard. They weren't serious were they?
"Wh- Marriage?" I asked.
"Yes!" Anna squealed. She was just playing with me. She surely should have been raised with common sense.
"I'm sorry, I'm confused," I said, raising my eyebrows.
"Well, we haven't worked out all the details yet. We'll need a few days to plan the ceremony," Anna started. Oh my goodness. She wasn't kidding. What was she thinking? She couldn't marry him. She just met him! "Of course we'll have soup roast and ice cream and then- Wait, would we live here?"
"Here?" I asked.
"Absolutely!" this Hans fellow replied.
"Anna-" I tried interrupting but she didn't pay attention.
"We could invite all twelve of your brothers!"
"What? No, no, no, no. Just wait. Slow down." That caught their attention. "No one's brothers are staying here. No one is getting married."
"Wait, what?" Anna asked, a look of disappointment on her face.
"May I talk to you? Please? Alone?" I asked, grabbing my hands together. I could tell something bad was going to happen and I was getting apprehensive.
"No. Whatever you have to say, you can say it to both of us," Anna said, wrapping her arm around Hans's.
"Fine," I said, straightening myself to look more authoritative. "You can't marry a man you just met."
"You can if it's true love," Anna said, getting sharper by the second.
"Anna, what do you know about true love?" I asked softly.
"More than you! All you know is how to shut people out!" I was heartbroken. I didn't think she would be this damaged and hurt as the years passed. Then again, I couldn't blame her. You would feel pretty mad if your sister shut you out for so many years and you didn't know why. I didn't know what else to say.
"You asked for my blessing but my answer is no. Now, excuse me."
"Your majesty, if I may ease your-"
"No you may not and I-I think you should go," I said to them, stuttering a little. I walked to a guard and commanded, "The party is over. Close the gates."
"What? Elsa, no, no wait!" Anna said trying to pull me back. But instead, she grabbed my glove.
"Give me my glove!" I demanded, reaching for it. But she held it from my reach.
"Elsa, please. Please. I can't live like this anymore!" she said, clutching my glove with both hands.
"Then leave," I said to her, tears welling up in my eyes. It was going to have to be like this for the rest of my life. Me living in isolation. The closed gates. I sighed and turned to the exit.
"What did I ever do to you?" she asked, fury building up within her. She was making me mad and stressed. My powers could go haywire anytime now. I had to control it.
"Enough, Anna," I warned her but kept moving forward. I didn't want to make a scene. I just met her and now we're fighting like we've been enemies forever.
"No, why? Why did you shut me out? Why did you shut the world out? What are you so afraid of?"
"I said enough!" I whipped around, icicles firing from my hands. In front of me, a semi circle of sharp icicles divided me from everyone. From my sister. I clutched my hand to my chest and looked around. Everyone had frightened looks on their faces. I failed. Now everyone will think of me as a monster. The evil Snow Queen of Arendelle.
