Coronation Day
Three years later . . .
Elsa's P.O.V.
Today was the day. The day I became queen. I was very anxious though. What if something happens? What if I accidentally expose my powers and fail at what I've been working at for so long? No. That wouldn't happen. My gloves would stop that from happening. They would keep me safe.
I pulled my hair up in a twist bun with a blue ribbon slipping through it and applied a bit of makeup. The dress I wore was teal with a golden lacing and flowery designs on the bodice. The dress had black sleeves and a magenta cape with the Arendelle insignia. I slipped on a pair of cyan gloves and walked to the window. I inhaled deeply and sang, "Don't let them in. Don't let them see." I turned away and walked to the picture of my father during his coronation. "Be the good girl you always have to be." I slipped off my gloves and set them down next to the makeshift orb and scepter. "Conceal, don't feel." I held them in my hands and turned around to face the imaginary audience. "Put on a show." The scepter and orb started freezing over and I put them down behind me. "Make one wrong move and everyone will know." I turned back around and examined my hands. "But it's only for today." I slipped on my gloves once more and made my decision. "It's agony to wait." I slammed the doors leading to the outside world open. This had been the first time in forever. "Tell the guards to open up the gate."
I walked down the hallway, servants bowing down to me as I walked passed them. "Don't let them in, don't let them see." I opened the glass doors of the balcony. "Be the good girl you always have to be." I stepped out and looked at my new subjects. This felt uncomfortable. "Conceal. Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know." What if something happened today? Elsa, why are you thinking about ifs? Ifs aren't going to get you anywhere. I took a deep breath and murmured, "It's time."
❄❄❄
Relax, Elsa. Everything will be fine. Just think happy thoughts and forget about it. Distract yourself.
I bowed down as the man placed the crown on my head. As I came back up, he was already holding out a green pillow with a green lining carrying the orb and scepter. As I was reaching to grab the holy objects, the man cleared his throat. I knew I had to take them off. It would be unholy if I didn't. But why not give it a shot? "Your majesty, the gloves." I looked at my gloves, trying to keep calm. Conceal. I slowly slipped off one of my gloves and held it in my other hand. Don't feel. I slid off my other glove and placed them on a space next to the orb and scepter. Don't let them know. I inhaled deeply to clear my mind. With shaky hands, I grabbed the orb and scepter and turned to face the audience. I inhaled deeply and held it. I felt as if my nerves would take control and I would give in any second. "Sem hon heldr inum," the man recited behind me. Come on, Elsa. Just a little longer. The audience stood at my presence. "Helgum eignum ok krynd i pessum helga stad ek te fram," he continued. I felt my hands tingling. Oh no. I looked down at the objects and saw that they had started freezing. I inhaled and held it, hoping it would go away, and looked back at everyone. "Fyrir ydr . . . Queen Elsa of Arendelle." I quickly turned and put down the objects on the pillow and slid my gloves on. Thank goodness that was over. The rest would be easier.
"Queen Elsa of Arendelle."
