Part 8
Campbell' POV
I held her through the night, not really minding much, personal space was never really much of an issue for me anyway! Besides that, the bed was so small we didn't really have a choice. I slept pretty soundly, like most nights and mornings until I felt shifting beside me and grumbled, letting out a quiet huff. I was not one to want to get up early. When I felt a slight weight against my chest though I couldn't help but smile a little, remembering the night before. For her, I could wake myself up. "Ello beautiful," I hum groggily and smile down at her, two hazel eyes peeking up at me. She smiled a little and moved to sit slightly, '....good morning,' she said in that soft little voice of hers, casting her eyes down to her hands, "did you sleep okay? Well, I mean, better at least?" I asked, remembering to keep my voice down. She nodes but wouldn't meet my eyes as I smile a little and nudge her, "not too bad a bunk mate huh?" I grin, proud when I saw the corner of her lips turn up a little as she shakes her head. "Well, you weren't that bad either, cold as an ice cube though, which you know, it's the strangest thing since if you are around ice long enough it actually burns you? Always thought that was rather-" I began rambling as my mind was beginning to run its usual 100 miles a minute. I only stopped when I felt a soft peck on my cheek, blinking a second as I processed before putting on a slightly shocked grin. She was a bright pink as she smiled and shrugs, '......thank you,' she whispers, the sweet moment, and my response cut off by the sound of the hallway door being unlocked. Her eyes widened as she got up, 'I-I should get back, I don't want you to get in trouble, I'll see you at breakfast,' she smiles and hurried out, giving me a little wave as her bare feet lightly pattered back to her room. I sat, watching just long enough to see her round the corner into her room. I grinned to myself, dropping back against the bed as I looked up at the ceiling. At least we found something that could shut me up.
After pills and queuing for the bathroom for at least a half an hour due to the one at a time policy, I was finally able to rush back to my room and throw on some jeans along with one of my brightest sweaters. I felt bad as I knew she wouldn't just go in and get her food to find a seat. Being alone in the loud room stressed her out. Sure enough, once I made my way down the hall, there she was, looking thoughtfully out the window. Mind you, she always looked thoughtful. I don't think I had ever seen her look just like there was nothing on her mind. Before I could let myself get too sad from the idea, I slide up beside her grinning, hands deep in my pockets. I rested my chin gently on her shoulder as to not startle her as she looks over and the corner of her lips turned up ever so slightly. I can't tell you how good it felt to make her smile. "Hungry?" I knew it was a dumb question as her answer was almost always no, but I had been making sure she ate at every meal.
After a small dispute, I had gotten her to consume both a bowl of fruit and two slices of toast. It was nothing compared to the mountain of eggs and bacon I made quick work of. I swear I almost got her to laugh! It was a good day, a very good day all things considered, that was, until we were tracked down in studio and I heard the four worst words in the English langue.
'Campbell, You're father's here.'
