Ch 6: Lead-up to the Tokiwadai Prom
A/N: I don't own anything.
Enjoy!
A few months after Touma was admitted out of the hospital:
Kamijou POV:
Everything returned to normal after Seoul and the hospital. Will and I are still in the Marines, but transferred to a base near Academy City in Japan, and we were put on a reserve status.
Mitchell meanwhile was still doing Atlas assignments, recently with the rescue of the Nigerian Prime Minister from the KVA, a Chechen terrorist group responsible for multiple attacks around the world, though they tried getting into Academy City...and failed.
I was just on my way to school as usual when Misaka showed up to say something urgent to me.
Misaka (IJ and panting): Hey Touma!
Me (IJ): Yeah?
Misaka (IJ): We need to duel this afternoon.
Me (IJ): Wait....is there something happening in Tokiwadai?
Misaka (IJ): Yes.
Me (IJ): Alright, I'll get my explanation later, see you!
Misaka (IJ): You too.
I continue on my way to school before the bell rings.
Overall through the morning, it was an average day, except for the fact that misfortune didn't come back to bite me in the ass, so I didn't get scolded by my teachers for forgetting homework, or the concepts.
I starting to think that I may have become a normal student, considering that my grades are rising and not falling like last time.
When lunch time rolled around, I rushed back home to prepare Index's and my lunch, ate mine as fast as I could in 30 minutes, then rushed back to school.
For the rest of the day, I think that time went by faster than as is in the mornings.
Once we got dismissed from school, I pulled out my smartphone with a text from Misaka, saying that we meet by the usual vending machine.
I head my way onto the vending machine.
While I was standing there, I went to surf over the internet for the news, and what do you know, Mitchell was on there. The article was praising the Atlas Corporation for it's efforts in assisting Belorussian forces against local rebels in a hostage situation. It was a swift operation they said, only taking 2 hours from start to finish.
Me (thinking): Damn Mitchell, you were a beast in the Corps, now you're a bigger beast in the Atlas Corportion...good job.
It was then at around 4-5pm that Misaka came.
Me (IJ): Took you long enough.
Misaka (IJ): Hey, that's my catchline!
Me (IJ): Well too bad..anyways, duel?
Misaka (IJ): Yes.
She then formed swords from her electricity, as expected from a Level 5 esper. She tries to strike me, but I dodge it easily by strafing to the side (guess the Marine Corps got my back on hand to hand fighting huh?)
I then tried running to see if she would try to extend her blade out, and sure enough she did. Before the blade can get to me though, I blocked it with the full force of Imagine Breaker.
This was surprisingly turning out like the last time she used this technique against me, albeit now that I'm in the Corps, I wasn't as scared as I used to be.
I ending up winning by almost punching her in the end, though I stopped because I'm not that type of person to do that to any girl, much less Misaka.
I pulled myself and Misaka up and asked her for the explanation.
Me (IJ): So what's going on at Tokiwadai that requires my attention?
Misaka (IJ and maybe shy as well): Well...we're gonna have a Tokiwadai prom on Friday this week.
Me (IJ): Okay...
Misaka (IJ): And the school requires us to bring a partner of the opposite gender.
Me (IJ): Wait, last time an event like this happened, your school didn't require you to bring a partner.
Misaka (IJ): Well this year it's different, and since I am not an administrator, I don't know the reason behind this.
Me (IJ): So you been meaning to ask-
Misaka (IJ and tearing up): Will you be my partner at the Tokiwadai Prom?
I could see her have tears coming from her eyes, so I came and hugged her with my arms wrapped around her back. Strangely, this felt right for some reason. Maybe because of the feelings I have for her? I am not exactly sure.
Me (IJ and whispering): Yes, I will your partner to the Tokiwadai Prom, and please don't get upset, it makes me sad when I see you like this.
Misaka (IJ): Thank you Touma...for everything.
We stood there for a while (about 5 minutes) before I decide to escort her back to her dorm.
To me, after Seoul, things have been getting hazy, with a sense of a looming threat over the horizon, and I am ready for that day when it comes.
A/N: I hoped that you enjoyed this chapter!
Have a nice day!
