Ch 5: Back in Academy City
AN: I don't own anything in this story except for the alterations in the story.
Enjoy!
Key: (IJ)=in Japanese, (IV)=in Vietnamese
Two weeks later:
Kamijou POV:
I woke up to some bright lights in a hospital that was very familiar. I was still in my bruised and kind of worn MARPAT uniform and my exo and gear was placed to the side. I immediately knew where I was.
Me (muttering): Heaven Cancellor's hospital....back in Academy City.
After I said that, a nurse and Will came into the room to see me.
Nurse (IJ): Glad to see you're awake Mr. Kamijou. You will be admitted out of the hospital tomorrow as soon as you are better.
Me (IJ): Thank you.
The nurse then walks out of the room, leaving me and Will to talk.
Will: Hey Kamijou, you're awake, how you doing?
Me: Good.
Will: Well I got some news for you. Cormack has asked command to promote you, me, and Mitchell to Lance Corporals, and command accepted.
Me: So that means...
Will: We got promoted, congratulations.
Me: Thanks..but how is Mitchell doing?
Will: Well, he's lucky to still be alive, but he's got an honorable discharge one week ago and joined my dad's company to get his arm fixed and for a better life.
Me: Atlas?
Will: Yeah.
Me: Damn...so much has happened when I was in a coma.
Will: You might want to turn on the TV.
I turn on TV to look at the news.
Academy City reporter: Two weeks ago, US Marines were successful at pushing back North Korean forces out of Seoul. Stability will be returned with an additional US Army division to support the US Marines in Seoul. According to the US government, estimates put causalities of the North Koreans forces at 15,000, while the US Marines lost 6,000 men-
Me: We lost 6,000 men that day?! That's more than Omaha Beach and Pearl Harbor!
Will: You're right, along with that Demo team, we lost a lot of good men that day.
Me: And you could've been killed that day as well if you hadn't put that charge in on time before the door was about the close on you.
Will: Well...I survived, and that's what matters.
Me (thinking): Crap, I'm in my marine uniform...if Misaka finds out, she will go crazy.
Me: Yo Will?
Will: Yeah?
Me: Did you bring my regular school clothes?
Will: Yeah, I did, though I almost had Index bite me in the head.
Me: She's probably hungry.
Will: I made her lunch, so she's happy now.
Me: Well that's good..
Will: But Misaka will come visit you later, so go into the bathroom and change your clothes since you're up and kicking.
I go change into my regular school clothes, then hop back in bed just in time for Misaka to drop in.
Me (IJ): Yo biribiri.
Misaka (IJ): Hey! Don't call me that name! (she proceeds to hit me in my left arm a few times) Baka, you had me so worried when I heard that you were admitted into the hospital!
Me (IJ): Well I at least appreciate the concern you have in me, considering that you're still the tsundere I know.
Misaka face then turns red as a tomato.
Misaka (IJ): BAKA!
Me (IJ): Fukou Da....
A/N: Will understands and can speak in Japanese, but he prefers to use Vietnamese (his third language that I assigned him) in this scenario since not a lot of people in Academy City understand it, and he uses it if he's uncomfortable using Japanese in Academy City or for important stuff that he can't speak in English in. Also, all Vietnamese in this story is going to be in a northern (Hà Nội) accent, since I can't do the southern (Hồ Chí Minh City) accent.
Will (IV): Tao đi đây, trước khi tao ở trong trường hợp tao không tích lắm. (I'm gonna go now before I get myself in a unfavorable situation.)
Me (IV): Ừ, mày đi đi (Yeah, you can go.)
Will (IV): Tao đi đây, gặp mày sâu nhé! (I'm going now, see you later!)
Me (IV): Ừ, tâm biệt mày. (Yeah, see you.)
Will leaves, leaving me and Misaka alone in the room.
Misaka (IJ): Who was that, and what language were you speaking in?
Me (IJ): Oh him? He was just a friend, and we were speaking in Vietnamese.
Misaka (IJ): For someone like you, speaking another language other than Japanese and English is impressive.
Me (IJ): Thanks...biribiri.
Misaka (IJ): I SAID DON'T CALL ME THAT!
I start to see that Misaka was about to send electricity bolts my way, but I block those bolts with my right hand.
Me (IJ): Jeez Misaka, you still try to kill me when I still hospitalized, just like the last time I was in the hospital.
Misaka (IJ): Well maybe if you stop calling me by that name, I will stop sending electricity your way.
Me (IJ): Fine, fine, I'll stop for your sake, Ace of Tokiwadai...
Misaka (IJ): By the way, what were you doing that landed you in the hospital?
Crap, I can't let her know I was with the US Marines in Seoul just yet.
Me (IJ and lying): Uhh..I was fighting magicians outside of Academy City.
Misaka (IJ): Alright, makes sense..
I swear I think she knows that I am lying under my breath, but doesn't push any further.
Misaka (IJ): Anyways I brought some food from my school to help you get through the night, have fun eating it, baka...
Me (IJ): Thanks, I appreciate it, Misaka.
Misaka (IJ): Well I gotta go now..Judgement duty.
Me (IJ): Okay, see you.
Misaka leaves and I am alone in the hospital room, thinking how the hell that I am still alive after almost getting sucked out of that drop pod and blacking out after the explosion of the Havoc Launcher.
Me (thinking): Maybe the tides have just changed..
A/N: I hope you enjoy this chapter. Review down below on how well this chapter and story goes.
Have a nice day!
