Demi
Inspired by a past-life mediation I did a few months ago. I met a man named Demi and nearly had an out of body experience with how much love I possessed for a man I never met. Regardless of what you believe, I hardly know what I believe myself, these are few poems chronicling what I felt inside of my mediation.
1.
I want to tell you I love you
I want to bite the words into your skin
And leave my fingerprints in your bloodstream
I think of writing my name on your chest
The tip of my finger dragging over and over
the scrawl of my name like it's permanent
Like it's yours
2.
I say your name so often
I forget who I am
If I am you
Or If I am just yours
3.
Demi,
A man made cathedral
Of life
Of bubbling energy
Crackling just beneath calloused fingertips
Of lethal intention
Living between bloody gums and tired bones
Demi,
You pluck pearls like pennies from the sea
And press them into a palm that has known treasure
You vow love
the only promise you can afford
All you can give me
Is a handpicked pearl
And the fickle contract of your heart
You stare with eyes of laced gold
And cooling amber
And press every word
Back into my body
With your teeth
So I know it's real
Feedback is loved and never wasted.
