Jesse smiled as she walked down the hall, admiring the pictures adorning the walls. It seemed like only yesterday when she nodded yes to Lukas, accepting him as the one she'd spend the rest of her life with, or when she had walked down that petal-adorned aisle and kissed Lukas after sealing their vows as man and wife. Almost two years had passed since then, and Jesse had just found out some big news.

She was walking down to Lukas' study, but she stopped before she entered the room, hearing music softly playing. He enjoyed writing music as a hobby of his own, and Jesse frequently heard him playing some new composition he was working on in his free time. Of course, this song he spent so much time and work on, Jesse had heard it at least a dozen times before. She even snuck a look at the lyrics and read over them until she had memorized them. Now, hearing the familiar intro music, she couldn't help but hum along as Lukas began to sing.

"Hey, I was doing just fine before I met you. I drink too much and that's an issue but I'm okay."

"Hey, you tell your friends it was nice to meet them. But I hope I never see them again."

"I know it breaks your heart, moved to the city in a broke down car and, four years no call, now you're lookin' pretty in a hotel bar."

"And I can't stop. No, I can't stop."

"So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover that I know you can't afford."

"Bite that tattoo on your shoulder, pull the sheets right off the corner of the mattress that you stole from your roommate back in Boulder."

"We ain't ever getting older."

Lukas, who had been singing, stopped as he continued to play the guitar to the instrumental. He stopped when it came to the next singer's part, which was meant for a girl.

"You look as good as the day I met you I forget just why I left you, I was insane."

Lukas turned around abruptly to meet Jesse's gaze, but with a small smile from the woman, he continued to play.

"Stay and play that Blink-182 song that we beat to death in Tucson, okay."

"I know it breaks your heart moved to the city in a broke down car. And four years, no call. Now I'm looking pretty in a hotel bar."

"And I can't stop. No, I can't stop."

"So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover that I know you can't afford."

"Bite that tattoo on your shoulder. Pull the sheets right off the corner of the mattress that you stole from your roommate back in Boulder."

"We ain't ever getting older."

Jesse walked into the room as Lukas put his guitar down in its stand. "You looked at my sheet music," he said. "I did. Now, something about that song seems so familiar. Almost like I've known it," Jesse replied in a faking-oblivion tone. Lukas rolled his eyes and Jesse walked over and sat on the edge of his knee. "Now you're gonna have to add some more to it," she added. Lukas raised an eyebrow. "Why?" Jesse hummed for a moment before turning to Lukas with a bright smile.

"We're gonna have a mini us running around."

Lukas' blue eyes widened at Jesse's confession. "Is it true? We're gonna be parents?!" he asked. Jesse nodded with tears of joy brimming in her eyes. Lukas too had his eyes brim with tears as he swept Jesse up and twirled her around.

The chapter may have ended, but a new one is just starting.
