As weeks went on into months, Lukas and Jesse had begun to recover their close bond, but as friends. This relieved Lukas, as the blond was scared Jesse wouldn't forgive him after what he did. Jesse, however, was deeply joyful to see Lukas again, even after how he left things. Slowly, as time went on, the two began to realize that the feelings they had for each other hadn't dissipated like they thought they did.

Finally, Lukas worked up the courage to ask Jesse on a date.

Of course, the blond had his fears that Jesse would flat out deny him and try to cut off any communication, believing that he was trying to pull something that would end the same way it ended before. To Lukas' relief, Jesse happily accepted.

On their date, Lukas took Jesse to the movie theater, catching a new movie which had recently come out. He had decided to go for a comedic-romance, which prompted multiple laughs and slightly awkward romantic encounters between the two. Take for instance the hand-brushing when grabbing popcorn. When the movie had finished, Jesse was walked home by Lukas. When saying their goodbyes, Jesse thanked Lukas and gave him a kiss on the cheek, before telling him goodnight then closing the door. Lukas had been awestruck by the sudden act of affection, but when he came out of it, he had a blush spread across his cheeks and he buried his face in his hands.

How Jesse managed to take his cool away in a second with a simple act was still beyond him.

As time went on, the two went on more dates. More dates led to more frequent acts of affection for the other, which also led to long phone calls before bed. Jesse also began to notice and catch onto what Lukas had planned. Every date they went on was extremely similar to a date they had when they had previously been dating in their old town, except backward. Jesse had thought it was a truly clever idea, and she smoothly complimented the blond on it which resulted in a faint blush and smirk against his lips.

Finally, after multiple dates, Lukas decided to go for it and kiss Jesse.

It wasn't a small kiss on the cheek or head or hand, it was a full-blown kiss on the lips, which resulted in a short make-out session between the two before they had to sadly pull away for something called air. They dated for almost three years. On the anniversary of their very first date, almost nine years ago, they went to the park in the middle of the city. It was a beautiful sight, especially in the spring evening with blossoms sprouting around the park. Lukas and Jesse were enjoying a picnic amongst each other, enjoying each others' company. After a while of idle chatter between the two and enjoying their meal, Lukas handed Jesse a small object wrapped in a cloth. Jesse raised an eyebrow and questioned what it was, but Lukas merely motioned for her to unwrap it. Jesse, confused by Lukas, unwrapped the cloth to reveal something she didn't expect.

A little fortune cookie cracked in half with a fortune popped outside, the paper wrapped around a little ring.

'You are about to be asked probably the biggest question of your life.'

Jesse looked up at Lukas to see him kneeling on one knee in front of her. Instantly tears sprung to Jesse's eyes as Lukas gently took the gift and unwrapped the ring from the fortune. He held the ring in front of him, his blue eyes full of love, before uttering five words that would forever change their lives.

"Jess... Will you marry me?"

The ebony-haired girl immediately nodded her head rapidly, too overcome with emotion to speak, before she threw herself into Lukas' arms, pressing a deep, loving kiss against his lips. Lukas smiled as he happily returned the kiss, slipping the ring onto her finger before allowing the hand to snake up and hold her head. After a few moments, the two broke apart for air, leaning their foreheads against each other.

"I love you...."
