Me: -is hiding in bunker with extra defenses-
I'm probably gonna die. Eh, I did nothing wrong.

Jesse smiled as she snuggled into Lukas' side, enjoying the warmth he shared. The two were sitting on the couch of Jesse's place, spending an evening together. It was normal for them to go out on dates, but they mostly spent evenings together watching movies and cuddling on the couch.
They had been dating for almost two years now, hence why their friends were all used to them hanging out together so much. The two were a really cute couple too. They always partook in very light PDA from hand-holding to light kisses on the nose and cheeks. Their friends were all happy for both Lukas and Jesse.
Lukas was sitting normally, his feet on the ground, but Jesse had her legs curled up next to her as she sat next to Lukas, leaning into his side with her head on his shoulder. Lukas had his arm wrapped around her waist, his head resting on Jesse's, occasionally moving to press a light kiss to the top of the ebony-haired girl's head. The movie playing had gone to the back of their minds, it felt like it was just them. Both had smiles on their faces.
But, after a moment, Lukas' started to fade.
"Jess?"
"Hmm?"
"I-I have to tell you something."
Jesse lifted her head from where it rested on Lukas' shoulder. Her green gaze looked at Lukas' face, which was creased in worry. Her smile faded into a worried frown. "What is it?" she asked. Lukas breathed a deep breath before he started.
"Well, I was just given a job opportunity and I accepted it."
Jesse's smile returned as she heard the news. "Really? That's amazing, Lukas!" she exclaimed. But, seeing as he refused to meet her gaze and his face was still creased in a frown, her smile faded. Jesse gently cupped Lukas' cheek and turned his face to look at hers. "What's wrong?" she asked. Lukas sighed, otherwise staying silent. Jesse refused to back down, her gaze determined and worried. The blond eventually caved.
"I-It's kinda, maybe, in a very far away city...."
Jesse's green eyes widened and her hand slowly fell to her lap. "I planned on telling you sooner, but I just couldn't find the right time. I'm sorry," Lukas apologized. The midnight-haired girl felt a few tears come to her eyes. "How far?" she whispered. Lukas looked down at his lap. "I don't know. All I know is that it's nowhere near here," he confessed. Silence enveloped the two, neither having any luck coming up with words to say.
"Come with me."
Jesse looked up and met the blue gaze of Lukas, her green eyes once again wide in shock. "W-What?" she stammered, not certain if her ears were deceiving her or not. Lukas smiled a gentle and worried smile down at Jesse. "Come with me," he repeated. Jesse couldn't come up with words to speak. Go with him? To a city after living her whole life in a small town? Abandoning everything she's ever known? "I-I don't know, Lukas. This is so sudden and- I just don't know. I'd be leaving behind everything and everyone I know," Jesse said. "I know, but I love you, Jess. I'd be in the same position as you, and we'd be able to get through it together. Please," Lukas pleaded. Jesse bit her lip as she looked at the ground. He was asking so much of her. Jesse didn't even know if she really was cut out for life in the city. Everything was so much bigger, more exciting, more....
Dangerous.....
"I-I can't, Lukas..."
Lukas stiffened at Jesse's words. "Jess..." he whispered. Jesse held her hand up, stopping the blond from speaking.
"I wish I could, but I just- I can't. I wouldn't be cut out for city life anyway. Not after spending all my life here. Maybe we could try a long-distance relationship? It'd be hard, but I know we can do that, and I'm willing to try it because I love you."
Lukas' expression changed. He looked so emotionless. "If you really loved me, you'd give the city a shot with me by your side," he said in a monotonous tone. Tears began springing up in Jesse's eyes. "L-Lukas...." she whispered. The blond stood up from the couch, walking over to the coat rack next to the front door. Jesse stood up from the couch, hot tears running down her cheeks. "Lukas, wait!" she called. The blond stopped in his tracks, the front door open and waiting, refusing to meet the green-eyed girl's gaze.
"I think I've overstayed my welcome."
And with that, he was gone.
