Chapter 2
I finally dragged myself out of bed and into the grayed kitchen, the sunlight blinding me through the window. The tile was warm beneath my feet, a welcoming feeling to the horrific morning I'm going to have to face soon. As I went to turn on the coffee pot I noticed a note on the counter.
Looks like Dad had to work the morning shift again. I thought as I started the coffee pot. I reached for the note, scanning over the words.
Sorry I can't be with you hun on your first day, but do not worry! I will be waiting for you to return with some cocoa and donuts! Again, I'm sorry I can't be with you today, love you with all my heart!- Dad
"Heh, I love you too." He was such a teddy bear sometimes. I remember when he missed my first dance because of work. Dad repaid me by getting me a golden retriever puppy! We decided to name her Daisy, we named her Daisy because daisy's started to sprout in our yard at random, and she came into our lives like a surprise. She was laying in the living room still, wagging her tail when she heard my footsteps.
"Come here Daisy! Do you want some lovin'!" I called to her, grabbing my coffee and some dog treats. She galloped into the room and leaned against my legs, her toffee colored eyes staring up at me.
"Show me your belly!" I told her. She just laid on her side, she was too chubby to do that kind of "hard" work.
"Good enough." I tossed the treat in the air and Daisy caught it with a loud chomp! She was too cute. As I was sipping my coffee, my eyes wondered to the window, studying my new backyard, new patio, new everything. Moving is always difficult, especially for Dad. He tries to make it sound so amazing.
It will be a whole new adventure! He would say. But it's always the same routine. New home, new school, new people. I climbed the stairs to get changed, Daisy following close behind. She was so loyal, and loved me for who I am, unique. Dad and Daisy understood me. Aunt Sarah, cousin Lynn, Grandpa Howard, they never took the chance to understand me. Just one Thanksgiving with me, I was rejected. The clock showed it was 6:45, it was time to prepare the day ahead of me.
