6. Past the Moon Beyond the Stars

As soon as Swarnima left Abhedya left too. On a bench, in a park, he saw Swarnima sitting. She removed her specs put her elbows on her knees rested her face on her palms looking absolutely angelic without her specs which hide her beautiful eyes. Abhedya was admiring her from afar when a tear that fell from her eye pained his heart. He wanted to go and comfort her and mend things but Swarnima left quickly so he quietly followed her.

Swarnima parked her cycle and went inside her building when an aged lady came to her and said something hearing which Swarnima ran to her home and came back quickly to the lady with an oxygen pump and gave puffs to the old man after which he was somewhat normal.
Abhedya could see Swarnima was a kind, caring and a beautiful person whom he said hurtful words.

He went towards her apartment before Swarnima comes, to surprise her with ice cream, he brought for her to cheer her. But the moment he entered her house it started beeping "trespasser!! Beware!!"

Swarnima ran to her house and Abhedya got a bit scared. Swarnima's face paled seeing Abhedya there but she quickly turned off the alarm with her phone and took a deep breath.

"Wow! you a have a hi-tech house," Abhedya commented in appreciation.

"Umm... I stay alone so yeah it is essential," replied a nervous Swarnima. "What brings you here, sir?"

"I am here to.. umm... you know why I am here!" Abhedya answered in a manifested tone.

Swarnima gave him a confused look so Abhedya inhaled deeply and confessed, " look, I hated what happened earlier and I am feeling extremely guilty, which normally I don't...umm... you see I never do anything to feel guilty. You, know what I mean? So, yeah... I came to apologise and I am ready for any punishment." Abhedya couldn't believe he asked for punishment but what he did with Swarnima he sure deserved one.

Swarnima listened to him then after a few seconds gave a small laugh. "I told you there was nothing you need to apologise for. What Adah said was not your fault and you do not deserve any punishment for sure."
Swarnima assured with a smile.

"But there is one thing I sure need to fix," saying which he delicately held her hand made her sit on one of the chairs. "You have an ointment?"
Swarnima had butterflies in her stomach for two reasons one, Abhedya was in her house, second, he held her hand so delicately that she was losing her senses.

" I asked you something, Swarnima?" Abhedya repeated.

She withdrew her hand and mustered the courage to say, "its okay sir. I will do it myself."

"Why can't you ever agree to me at once? Why do you act so pricey?" Abhedya sounded a little annoyed.

Swarnima got up smiling goofily and went inside a room taking deep breaths. It was like a dream to her. But she quickly grabbed the ointment and applied it on her hand. She reached the living room and showed her hand to Abhedya which now had ointment.

Abhedya chuckled and asked, "okay! madam so now that you have done the needful I should go."

Swarnima so wanted to stop him and ask him to stay 'forever' but she nodded her head in approval.

"You definitely are a terrible host Swarnima. You haven't asked me water, leave aside tea or coffee" Abhedya commented. Well, he just wanted to stay and talk to her 'what' never mattered.

"Umm... sir, it is a bit too late for tea coffee it's almost dinner time but yes I'll just get water," Swarnima was about to get water when Abhedya again held her hand and specified, "I like my water black with coffee."

"What is it, sir? Is there anything you really want to talk?" Swarnima left to get black coffee for him without waiting for his reply.

Swarnima was steaming the water lost in her thoughts when Abhedya came and confessed, "I myself don't know what I want to talk to you and what makes me come to you considering I never 'never ever' have gone apologising... hell!!  ever felt the need to admit it's my fault. With you, there is definitely something different. 'What it is' I don't know. Maybe because you are different from the girls I have ever met or maybe because you resemble someone I knew..."

SPLASH!!! the coffee she was putting in the cup spilt a little.
"Hey are you okay," Abhedya asked with concern.

"I am fine, thank you. Your black coffee sir, will you like sugar or honey in it?" Swarnima asked ignoring Abhedya's confession completely.

"No! I guess I should go." Abhedya was upset and annoyed with Swarnima who ignored his honest confession.

Swarnima also didn't stop him. She was going through an emotional roller coaster. As soon as Abhedya left she took her phone and messaged someone 'he remembers'

'He does? How do know? Did he say anything.' came the reply.

'Before he could say much I spilt coffee and he stopped saying further. But he remembers and I should maintain my distance from him. What do you say?' typedSwarnima.

'I say you are MAD!! Soon you know, he will come to know about everything so it's good that he gets little hints. It will better for him to digest facts. Don't ignore him Nim. You have done that enough. We have done that enough. That boy out there is clueless and the least we can do is not make things difficult for him. Nim give yourself and him chance. Rest is your choice.' Came a reply which brought a smile on Swarnima's face.

'Okay! but what do I do now? He definitely is annoyed with me and to seek apology from him  is like climbing the Everest.' Swarnima was biting her nails while typing.

'Your mess you clear!! By the way, what happened earlier at college are you fine? That girl will soon have it from me and what about the singing competition? Does that stupid girl know she is competing with the nightingale, Swarnima?' The person replied.

'Fine don't help! No! that girl Adah is already so complexed. She has her own insecurities and ABY has also lead her a bit to feel that way. He is a big-time flirt.' Texted Swarnima.

'WOW!! ABY!! after so many years you addressed him that way... and has his charms charmed the golden girl too??' the text made Swarnima smile like a fool.

"Okay! bye! Diner time.'Swarnima replied to avoid the question.

'Haha!! Remember Nim when you truly care for someone their mistakes don't change your feelings because the heart rules. So whatever Abhedya does or says listen to your heart before taking any action. bbye' came the final message.

Swarnima had her dinner and slept but Abhedya was all angry and grumpy coz he confessed what he felt and the girl ignored him. He had never been vocal about his feelings to anyone and his confession just went unanswered, unattended.

He didn't even go to his friends that night even after 100's of calls and requests. So he picked his guitar and started playing the song he always did to soothe his nerves. The beats of the song he strummed brought a smile on his face involuntarily.
This music piece was their way of making each other happy when any one of them was upset about something or when they were happy. While playing guitar, he forgot his surroundings and went down the memory lane.
Those chubby pink cheeks he loved pulling, those silky smooth hair he loved combing with his fingers, those delicate hands he never wanted to leave, those small pair of legs he always followed, those eyes which exhibited her each and every feeling.
I MISS YOU SONA!!
PAST THE MOON BEYOND THE STARS!!
He stopped playing and took out an old photograph from the zipped pocket of his wallet. He stared at it with all the love he had inside him and slept caressing it.

The following morning Swarnima left early from the college and went to a mall to prepare herself for Saturday. She knew she couldn't wear anything fancy but something decent was to be worn and she got the 'permission' too for a dress which was a little less casual. She went to Louis Vuitton for getting herself the best dress as per specifications. After all, it's not every day that Swarnima got permission, hell!! she never got permission. There were strict mandates she had to follow.

Abhedya who also happened to be at the mall shopping for himself a white t-shirt which spoiled a few days before, saw Swarnima secretly coming out of LV showroom. So he followed her and saw a policeman bowing to her and holding her bags.
He got very suspicious now... this girl is a mystery.
She has a high-end technology protected house and has contacts with the police too. She never mixes with anyone, is next level weirdo. Always under wraps, knows how to fight. Is she an undercover cop on a mission or something?

'I hope she is not spying on us. I have to be careful with her and will not let her do anything to my family who are in awe of her.'
He left for his house and found Swarnima already there in Nivi's room asking him, "so, what is the probability of murder in....?"

Abhedya's ears shot up hearing the question. He quickly grabbed Nivi's hand pulled him towards himself and warned, "listen!  I know what you are here for. Your secret is out miss. I know you are on some mission but I won't let you use my family for your mission."

"Sorry come again?" Swarnima asked in bewilderment.

"Are you deaf? I saw you at the mall meeting a policeman who carried your shopping bags. You live in a hi-tech secure house and know how to fight. You definitely are hiding more than we can see," Abhedya said in one go.

Hahaha hahaha
Hahahahahahah
Two people who heard the acquisition started laughing. One, Rudra, other, Nandini.

"Seriously Abhey? Do you think I would let someone come to my home without a background check? You know I have some best source of informers. If this girl here was a little suspicious she wouldn't be here. Now leave your baseless suspicions aside and apologise to her," Rudra clarified the doubts of his son.

"What about the police bowing to her?" Abhedya was still not convinced.

"He was my cousin's subordinate who is in police himself and he was not bowing just looking at the shopping I did for him," Swarnima revealed the truth.

Abhedya was little embarrassed with his little act so he admitted, "fine.. sorry!! but I had my doubts okay!"

"So if someone lives in a high-end secure house, knows how to fight, chooses to be a little reserved makes them a spy? Abhey, I thought you were a little more intelligent than that." Nandini teased her son.

Abhedya left from there with a grumpy face. Swarnima saw his retreating back and felt sorry for him. He wasn't absolutely wrong in his suspicions after all.
