34. The Second Sorting

A few minutes later, Crowley waited patiently in the Mirror Room with Lilia and almost all the dorm leaders. Everyone had received the news of the young girl's awakening and her sorting. Instead of wearing ceremonial robes, as they did at the beginning of the school year, they had their respective dorm uniforms. But it was hard to tell for Idia, who was only present via his floating tablet and refused to put the camera on.

"Oh, this is so exciting!" Kalim exclaimed fervently. "I can't believe a girl is gonna be in the same school as us!"

"This is certainly a historic event," Lilia said, no less cheerful. "It reminds me of that time when that princess got admitted here with the help of her mother's strong insistence. The news spread fast and widely."

"Ah, are you talking about the youngest daughter of the great-grandmother of the current queen of Queendom of Roses, Lilia?" Riddle asked, confusing Kalim with that entangled sentence.

Lilia looked at him, surprised. "Oh, have you heard of that story? It's an old one, and I don't know many young people who know about it."

"I learned about it last year when I researched important personalities who graduated from Heartslabuyl out of interest," Riddle explained and flashed a small smile. "I was impressed to learn that a remarkable politician in the history of my country studied at an all-boys school like ours. I would have never thought I would witness something alike."

"However, she's not a princess this time, but the sister of the very prefect of Ramshackle dorm," Azul reminded. "Who would have thought it!"

"Exactly, this year we've had some curious admissions," Crowley replied as he glanced at Yuu's ghost camera in one of his hands. "But just like her brother, this young girl is going through circumstances that few people would wish, the Black Carriage brought her here as it did with the rest of the students, and the school must take responsibility. So I ask you again to keep an open mind and understand why she is here at Night Raven College with us."

"It doesn't seem like she has many other options. I don't think it would be so scandalous to accept a girl in this school, it wouldn't be the first time either," Vil said calmly. "But we cannot deny that her arrival has made a great impression. If it weren't for the Magical Shift tournament, this would have been the most popular topic of the week."

"She may not be a princess, but I heard she's so pretty she looks a lot like one," Kalim said. "I want to see her! Hey, Vil. What do you think about it? Do you think she'll be sorted into Pomefiore because of that?"

"Some students from our dorm who saw her even compared her to the Fairest Princess, the stepdaughter of the Fairest Queen," Vil replied. "But no matter how beautiful her face is, it won't do her any favor if she doesn't put in her effort to improve herself. So we'll see what the Dark Mirror says."

"Ortho got along very well with her after he found her," Idia commented. "From what he told me and what I've heard, her arrival wasn't exactly a bed of roses."

They were all silent for a moment, knowing what he was referring to.

Riddle and Leona stared at the ground. They had both recently been through the same thing she was about to, with some differences being that she did not understand what was happening to her by then, and her health paid for her new magic.

"Falling into Overblot by just having magic! That's terrifying!" Kalim exclaimed with a shudder.

"This is indeed a mysterious, unfortunate situation," Azul sighed as he adjusted his glasses. "Two siblings come from a world where magic does not exist, the boy is not a magic user and needs a magical creature. But the girl can use magic, not without putting herself in danger unless she learns to control it."

"On top of that, they combine two types of cliché anime plots in a single situation. They couldn't have worse luck!" Idia muttered, not knowing whether to laugh or feel sorry for them.

"Just as young Ashengrotto stated, this is a rare case that we still don't understand," Crowley said. "This unstable magic thing is certainly intriguing. Not only that, it would have been possible that the prefect came here by accident... but a second time with his sister? This may say there's an actual reason, which I am researching very hard and kindly, but as I said, we do not have anything clear yet." Then he outlined a smile. "But let's change a bit the subject, I'm going to take this moment to give another recognition to young Rosehearts, the prefect, and their friends for their great work as a team to save her just in time."

"We wouldn't have made it in time if it wasn't for Lilia's quick thinking to find me and lead us to her," Riddle commented. "He also deserves that recognition."

"I just did what anyone would have, but can't imagine how glad I am to hear she woke up," Lilia said. "Yesterday, I told her brother not to lose hope, and then she opens her eyes the very next day."

"Yes, it's great news" Riddle nodded while he imagined Yuu's face of joy upon seeing his sister waking up.

"Speaking of announcements, I'm glad to have you here with us, young Vanrouge. But how come young Draconia has not attended this ceremony?" Crowley asked. "Was he busy at the time I informed you?"

"That's right! I was just wondering if we forgot again to invite him," Kalim said, a bit embarrassed. "Is he sick?"

"Oh no. It's nothing of that. He is well and he got ahold of the news," Lilia assured before sighing, a little down. "But let's say that he has personal reasons for not joining us today. I hope you'll excuse him this time."

"That's funny, he complains that they never invite him to anything, but now that he's personally informed... He refused?" Leona asked dismissively. "I'll never understand that guy."

"Maybe he refuses to be in the same room with you after that chaotic stunt you made," Vil replied sternly. "I would also find it difficult to forgive the fact that someone involved innocent people to hurt my students and me for selfish reasons."

"Oh, come on. Let's not go back to that," Crowley insisted to avoid a fight and pointed at Lilia with a hand. If Diasomnia agreed to forget this incident after playing against them in the tournament, we must go ahead and prevent this incident from happening again in the future, understood? How about we discuss which dorm our new student will be sorted in instead? From what I've seen, my best bets are in Heartslabyul and Diasomnia."

Kalim gave a small jump of joy, he had wanted to talk about it since he asked that question to Vil. "I was thinking about that just now!" He said. "If she's sorted into Scarabia, we will have a big celebration! We'll organize a huge feast with a big parade full of music and animals. I'll make sure it will be the biggest in the history of our dorm!"

Idia trembled just imagining the scene. "Kalim is the cheerful and outgoing host who seizes any excuse to celebrate in style, just as always," he mumbled. "This girl was inevitably noticed by the whole school. I would die of embarrassment if I had that much attention on me with something like that..."

"Oh, I hadn't thought of that," Kalim said with a nervous smile. "Then... will just a big feast be enough?"

"You should ask her if she wants that kind of welcome, so you'll cause her less unnecessary trouble," Leona suggested calmly.

"If the Dark Mirror chooses Diasomnia for her, we'll welcome her with open arms," Lilia said, something that Leona snorted at.

"Same here, Octavinelle will receive you in the best possible way," Azul informed. The merciful Sea Witch would have to make sure of it."

"Ortho still hopes that the Dark Mirror will put her in Ignihyde as a big plot twist, but I don't even want to imagine how unlucky she would be," Idia opined. "First her magic, and then being in a dorm full of shy guys that won't even dare tell you the time."

"I guess you're also talking about yourself," Leona said mockingly.

"I don't know how her adherence to following the rules will be, but I heard that she is kind, cheerful, and likes red roses a lot. Those are traits you can notice in Heartslabyul students," Riddle said. He could imagine it since Yuu, despite being more calm and sincere than most of his dorm students, was practically considered an honorary Heartslabyul student after all, since two of his closest friends belonged to that dorm, he had helped to paint the roses in the garden, and was invited to attend their Unbirthday parties. Of course, the Dark Mirror could say otherwise, but he wouldn't be surprised if his twin sister became part of their dorm with those characteristics.

"Whichever her dorm will be, nothing will change the fact that she will stay in Ramshackle dorm with her brother, the prefect," Crowley reminded before scowling sternly. "I guess it won't be necessary to give reasons, right?"

"You said it yourself, so she'd have more privacy and a safe space to work on her magic," Leona sighed.

"Speaking of them, shouldn't they already be here?" Idia asked impatiently since he wanted the ceremony to finish so he could focus on the new event of one of his games. "Didn't they have a specific time to come? We can't wait all night for them. Others have things to do, you know? I'm about to ask Ortho where they are."

"Calm down, they must be on their way," Vil reprimanded. "That girl just woke up, and the last thing she needs is to be in a hurry."

"Besides, you say that, but you haven't even left your room to attend this ceremony. Again," Riddle added, annoyed. He would never forget the vain attempts to make Ignyhide's dorm leader bother to appear at the entrance ceremony in September.

"But is all of this even necessary? We are only going to receive a new student. That could be done with just some paperwork and a visit to the Dark Mirror, nothing else. We don't even need to put on our ceremonial robes!" Idia grumbled. "Look, I'm complaining even more than Leona. How is it possible you are willing to be up at this hour? You fall asleep even in class!"

Leona glared at the device. "I don't think how much sleep I get is any of your business, radish sprout," he grumbled before taking a deep breath. "Besides, this ceremony is a different one."

"So this is the respect towards ladies of Sunset Savanna's lions," Lilia said with a big smile.

"It's not just that, this ceremony is also shorter than usual," Leona shrugged.

"That's right, I'm surprised you've barely complained since we got here," Vil sighed with a raised eyebrow. "If you are capable of that, why can't you be like this every day?"

"Don't fight, we don't want to give our new student a bad impression," Crowley stopped them severely.

Right then, the group they were waiting for was walking through the corridors towards the doors.

"Didn't you find it strange that you opened the gate with only a few sneezes?" Jack asked Yukiko as she went over with Ortho how they had met in the Mirror Chamber.

"I did, but I still wasn't sure if I was dreaming or not, so I didn't think much about it," she replied.

"And I thought she was a magic user from the beginning, so I assumed she had just gotten a little out of control with the sneezes. That sometimes happens with bad colds," Ortho added.

"What are we waitin' for? Let's go!" Grim exclaimed.

"Will you relax? The Mirror Chamber isn't going anywhere," Ruggie growled, who was getting tired of Grim's impatience.

"We haven't been back here since the beginning of the year," Ace commented, being careful not to mention the reason why they had to use the Dark Mirror to travel to Dwarf's Mine.

Yuu stared at the door that led to where he met Grim and where his and her sister's lives completely changed.

"Behind these doors is the chamber where we met," Ortho commented.

"You're right..." Yukiko sighed and swallowed hard.

"What's wrong? Are you nervous?" Jack asked, noticing her downcast expression.

"A bit. All of this is so sudden..."

Once again, Yuu got an idea of how she was feeling and patted her shoulder for support. "I'll be by your side as long as you need, I won't go anywhere," he assured her, and she nodded.

"Come on, nothing bad is gonna happen. We may think something, but the Dark Mirror looks through your soul, so it will choose the dorm that best suits you, there's nothing to worry about," Ace said before smirking. "Unless Grim feels like making a mess like last time, that is."

"What did you say!? No way! A great magician like me would never ruin the ceremony of his future student, yanno?" Grim yelled before trying to push the door open by himself in a vain attempt. "Henchman! You are Yuki's dorm prefect, so open the door for me."

"What do we say?" Yuu asked with a raised eyebrow.

Grim blinked, confused until he realized what he meant and frowned. "Please...?"

"Very good."

Yukiko chuckled softly, Yuu was trying his best to make Grim behave.

"Shi, shi, shi! He's just like a kid," Ruggie whispered as if he had thought the same.

"Let me hold the roses for you," Deuce offered before Yuu carefully opened the doors, receiving the immediate attention of Lilia, the headmaster, and the dorm leaders.

"Oh, they're here," Crowley commented aloud.

This time, Yukiko was able to take a better look at the huge room and the coffin-shaped floating gates. The big Dark Mirror that levitated over the fountain of emerald waters seemed more imposing than last time, as if it had been waiting for her from the beginning.

Before anyone could say anything else, Lilia suddenly appeared floating upside down, just ahead of the newcomers and above Yukiko. "What a joy! Our Sleeping Beauty has awakened from her slumber!"

Yuu, Grim, Yukiko, and the others all jumped and gave a small scream. The dorm leaders couldn't help but glance at the place Lilia had disappeared from in the blink of an eye upon materializing at the entrance.

"Whoa!" Ace exclaimed as he put a hand on his chest to calm his startled, pounding heart.

"Just like that time..." Deuce sighed, remembering that Lilia had done the same thing in the cafeteria while talking with Trey.

"Stop doing that!" Grim exclaimed after calming down a bit.

"Good evening, Mr. Lilia Vanrouge," Ortho greeted him. "That was a big surprise now!"

Lilia laughed before placing his feet on the ground and repositioning his dorm jacket, which was long enough to touch the ground. "My apologies for startling you like this, but I couldn't resist," he looked at Yukiko. "We meet again, Yuki. How do you feel? You look better now than you did in our last encounter."

It was not difficult for Yukiko to recognize that peculiar appearance. "Hello, I'm fine now," she greeted him. "I couldn't even ask your name, but thank you very much for helping me that time."

"Don't worry, it was a pleasure to help, and I'm so glad to see you on your feet, and in good health," Lilia assured before turning to Yuu. "See? I told you she would be waking up soon." He pointed to his forehead. "And so did you. How are you feeling after that impact?"

"Much better now, thank you. Yes, you were right, in the end, it was much earlier than we thought," Yuu said before thinking of that curious name that caused a quick cramp in his left shoulder. "But what did you mean by Sleeping Beauty?"

"Nothing special, I was just thinking out loud," Lilia said with a smile before looking back at Yukiko. "Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Lilia, Lilia Vanrouge. Vice-dorm leader of Diasomnia. Pleased to make your acquaintance."

Without giving notice, he surprised her by gently holding one of her hands. He brought it to his lips and placed a soft kiss there.

Yukiko gasped slightly and smiled, flustered, at that chivalrous gesture. Yuu's cheeks also turned red, and the others widened their eyes in surprise. From a distance, the headmaster and the dorm leaders watched the moment from afar.

"Oh, Lilia is as cheeky as usual," Vil commented with a sly smile.

Noticing the different reactions, Lilia chuckled. "Excuse my boldness, I mentioned before that I would give you a more appropriate welcome," he said. "Although I must admit that some of my ways are old school."

"No, no, no. It's fine, thanks," Yukiko assured. "Nice to meet you too, Lilia."

"Once again, Diasomnia students display the elegance of The Thorn Fairy," Ortho commented.

"Deuce, are you blushing too?" Ace asked with a smirk.

"Wha-...?! Of course not!" Deuce tried to deny it as he hid his face with the bouquet of roses.

"I think we'd better keep walkin', I can see Leona's murderous glare from here," Ruggie insisted, noticing that his dorm leader was clenching his fists after that kiss.

"Hey, I don't see Malleus Draconia around here," Jack observed. "Shouldn't he be here as a dorm leader?"

The boys talked a bit about that dorm leader over dinner, but they didn't go into much detail beyond the most known facts and rumors about him.

"He knew about this ceremony, but let's just say he has his reasons for not coming today," Lilia explained before directing a discreet look at Yuu. "But I am sure he'll be glad to have you in our dorm if you are chosen with us, Yuki. You will love to meet him."

"Thank you very much," Yukiko answered before looking at the distance that separated them from the huge mirror and taking a deep breath.

"I have to go back, but don't worry," Lilia said to encourage her. "Whichever your dorm is, I guarantee we'll get along as classmates. See you now." He disappeared again and materialized right next to the dorm leaders.

Before continuing on her way, Yukiko held out a hand to Yuu for support, and he held it firmly.

"Come on, everyone is waiting for you," Yuu murmured before encouraging her to continue on the path.

Despite how calm he seemed, Yuu was also nervous about this ceremony. With each step he took, the memories of his experience at the first entrance ceremony inevitably returned to his mind: his confusion when Crowley led him back there, the Dark Mirror silently judging him to reveal he couldn't be in a dorm, the murmurs from the crowd, and the shame he felt. For not remembering the horrible desolation he had felt after learning that it would not be easy to return home. That was not what he would consider a memorable reception, and his sister's had ended in an even worse way...

But at least things had gotten better for him, he was not alone and could handle everything thanks to the support of the people around him. And he was going to make sure things were going to get better for Yukiko too.

As they finished approaching the Dark Mirror, Ortho stepped forward to stand next to the tablet through which Idia was communicating. "I'm back, brother," he greeted cheerfully. "Look at Miss Yukiko Oshiro and the prefect. Don't you think they look so much like those virtual idols who are also twins?"

"Yes, you're right," Idia replied. "They also remind me of the main characters from that online gacha video game, also twin brother and sister. Hee, hee, hee! And with a kitty as cute as Grim with them, they look like they came straight out of it!"

"Oh, so it was true! She's as pretty as a princess," Kalim murmured upon seeing her.

Vil took the chance to inspect Yukiko with a critical eye, she indeed looked like her twin. "Hm... I could already tell her good looks from afar, but now that she's up close, she has a really adorable face," he nodded in approval. "Aside from the poor state her robes are, and the clear differences from the Fairest Princess, I can see why they compare her to one."

"Which differences?" Kalim asked.

"For example, the usual representations of the Fairest Princess portray her with short wavy hair, brown eyes, redder lips and cheeks... See what I mean? And if you pay attention, you can see that this girl doesn't have exactly her thin shoulders either. I wouldn't be too surprised if she usually works out."

"Ortho already mentioned she wasn't very tall, but I didn't picture her as being even shorter than Riddle. And that's saying a lot!" Idia said quickly under his breath, being careful not being heard by him.

"Good evening, you have arrived at a good time," Crowley greeted when the group finished approaching the Dark Mirror. "Have you recovered your strength, young Yuki?"

"Yes, sir," she answered. "Thank you"

"Okay, you don't have to be nervous, okay? It will be brief, and you will end up with your assigned dorm. Do you have any questions?"

"No, I've been told about this, so I'm good," she said before looking at Lilia, who smiled once again, and at Leona, who relaxed his gaze as they crossed glances.

"Then, good. Prefect, I have stopped by your dorm to give the news to the ghosts. I also brought here your ghost camera." He handed him the camera. "You didn't get a chance to take pictures of today's tournament, but this is another special moment for the school that deserves to be immortalized. And I suppose you also want to have a memory of this moment with your sister. Aren't I very kind?"

Yuu gasped, surprised. "Thank you very much, headmaster!"

"You can take all the photos you want later, but let's take one quickly of the right previous moment to the sorting."

"I wanna have a picture with her!" Grim exclaimed.

"Okay, but first let's take one with Yuki alone, okay?" Yuu replied. "Let's see... Yukiko, stand here in front of me."

"Wow, so lucky!" Ortho exclaimed. "It's true that I ended up deciding not to go to the entrance ceremony in September, but I really wanted to have a picture too."

"Really?" Yuu asked curiously.

Just after hearing that, Idia froze in his seat and looked at his brother through the computer screen, linked to the tablet. "Wait, what?" He asked, confused. He did not assist in person to the ceremony or see Ortho in the crowd at that time, but he was more than sure that he did attend.

"Then, would you like to take one with me too?" Yukiko suggested. "You are the one who found me here, after all."

Ortho's gaze lit up like a lantern in the middle of the night. "Can I? For real? Yes, please!" He said cheerfully before approaching them.

"Wait, Ortho! What do you mean by that!?" Idia asked with a nervous insistence, but Ortho ignored him and moved next to Yuu to wait for his turn. "Guys, didn't any of you see Ortho at the ceremony in September!?" He asked the other dorm leaders.

"I'm quite sure I didn't," Azul denied. "It would not have been difficult to notice him."

"I didn't see him either, and I even noticed that Ace and another first-year student weren't around for a moment," Riddle added. "You didn't realize that your brother wasn't here by then?"

Idia was shocked to say the least. "That's impossible! He was so excited for it! But then why..."

For his part, Leona ignored the conversation and looked at the twins, wondering once again what could have caused that strange, dream-like encounter with them.

"I wonder if she will offer me a picture with her too," Lilia laughed while seeing them in their impromptu session.

"Maybe, but I bet it will be more special if she's sorted into your dorm, Lilia," Azul said.

"Then I'll ask one with her if she's chosen in Scarabia!" Kalim assured.

"Give her a break, she's the first female student in a long time, not a celebrity at an awards show," Vil replied insistently.

Taking the chance to talk, Jack and Ruggie approached Leona. "Good evening, dorm leader Leona," Jack greeted him firmly.

"I see you already took your cute, little nephew back home, huh?" Ruggie said mockingly. "Did you talk a lot about Magift together? Shi, shi, shi!"

"Don't push your luck, Ruggie," Leona warned wearily.

Just after taking the first picture, the twins heard him growl and looked at him for a moment. Yuu and the others had also talked a bit about him over dinner. "Yes, this is Savanaclaw's dorm leader," Yuu whispered and made sure nobody else was paying him attention. "It's the same guy from the dream from before."

"You said that you still didn't trust him. He didn't hurt you, right?" Yukiko asked with suspicion.

Before Yuu could reply, Grim jumped up and raised his paws. "Come on now, it's my turn to take a photo with Yuki, yanno!" He exclaimed insistently.

"Ok, ok. Alright. But slow down," Yuu said to calm him down. "Next is Ortho's turn"

As Yukiko scooped Grim up to take her picture with him, Riddle walked up to Ace and Deuce. "I see you have also come here, first-year students," he said.

"Good night, dorm leader Rosehearts! I hope you don't mind that we're here, we got invited," Deuce greeted formally and determinedly.

"It would be absurd to have our heads chopped off for having permission to be here," Ace muttered.

"Don't worry, this ceremony is different from the main one, so most rules don't follow this one," Riddle assured. "Besides, you have permission from the headmaster and the new student."

"Hey, what do you bet that Cater will want to take a picture with her to upload it to Magicam?" Ace wondered.

"That's right, he mentioned wanting to do something like that if she woke up," Deuce replied.

"Cater always takes the opportunity to photograph novelties. I only hope he won't be too intrusive with her," Riddle sighed before turning to Yuu, who had finished taking the picture with Ortho. "Good night Yuu. How are you after that accident?"

Ortho decided to return to his brother's side to leave them in their new conversation, but not before giving Yukiko a few words of encouragement.

"Hello. Much better now, thanks," Yuu said.

"Really? My goodness, I hope that Grim learns how to properly aim after this." Riddle realized that Yukiko was looking at him. "So you are Yuki. It's a pleasure to meet you, your brother has told me about you," he said before outlining another smile. "I only got to visit you once in the infirmary, but it's good to see you finally on your feet. What do you think of the roses we picked from our garden? Do you like them?"

"Yuki, this is Riddle," Yuu introduced. "He's a friend and another of the dorm leaders we told you about, from Heartslabyul. He was also there with us when we went to save you."

It was true that Yukiko remembered seeing him for a second that time, but she was more than sure she had seen him before in what seemed to be a strange dream, just like with Leona. But this was not the time to think about that, she smiled and greeted him. "Nice to meet you, Riddle. Yes, the roses are lovely, thank you very much for them."

"You're welcome, I am glad to hear that. Oh, are you wearing the choker as you must? It is important that you have it on."

"Yes, I have it here right now," she said as she unbuttoned the collar of her shirt to reveal the choker. "See?"

"Alright then. My name is Riddle Rosehearts, dorm leader of Heartslabyul, founded on the strict nature of the Queen of Hearts. I heard there is a good chance you'll join us."

"Yes, that's what they told me too."

"The Dark Mirror may not have given a verdict yet, but in case our assumptions are correct and you belong to Heartslabyul, you will have by all means to follow the rules set down by the Law of the Queen of Hearts, just like the card-soldiers," Riddle continued. "We can do a quick first check: let's start with your greetings."

Yuu and Yukiko gave him questioning looks, but she shrugged and ended up smiling and waving her hand. "Hi, there." She muttered.

But Riddle frowned disapprovingly. "No, that won't do," he said calmly. "Speak nicely, and don't use your fingers."

Trying to think of something more formal, Yukiko decided to make a slight lean forward that didn't convince him. "Turn out your toes!" He ordered sternly and firmly, and Yukiko, startled by the sudden raise of voice, did so, but Riddle still didn't seem satisfied yet. "Open your mouth a little wider!" Yukiko opened her lips for a second, but she closed them immediately, realizing how weird that looked; still, he smiled approvingly. "Very good, I can see that you have some good points about you. You don't seem to hate following the rules."

"I just did it because you shouted all of a sudden..." Yukiko thought to herself, still apprehensive.

"Ha, ha. How adorable," Azul laughed under his breath. "But you shouldn't be so hard on the poor girl, Riddle, she just woke up after all."

"It's true that Riddle is scary sometimes..." Kalim murmured.

"They haven't even announced her dorm and he's already bossing her around," Ace said under his breath and Deuce swallowed hard.

"I really don't wanna her to be In Heartslabyul with Bossy Riddle..." Grim whispered, and Yuu laughed nervously in response, getting his point.

"Now, now. Let's not get ahead of the time," Crowley insisted as he gently separated Yukiko from Riddle. "Introductions can wait until after the sorting. But before I forget, young Yuki: as the only girl in an all-boys school, you will inevitably be the center of attention, and students will feel curious about you, at least until they get used to it and the surprise wears off."

Yukiko sighed, dejected. "I thought so," she said as she thought about the students whispering about her during her arrival.

"And while I trust there will be a minimum amount of decency in the school environment, there are plenty of youngsters out there who unfortunately don't know how to be respectful," Crowley said before clearing his throat. "We already have seen it with that boy who did not think much to attack you, for which he was already punished, even by the young Kingscholar as his dorm leader. Although I trust it will be the last time he uses battles as a penalty." He looked at Leona sternly, who only snorted in response, making it clear that he did not regret fighting in a duel. "I'd like to address this matter with you privately later, but my point is that in case of something similar happens, you can count on me to help you the best I can, not only as the headmaster but as your new guardian, just like I've been doing with young Yuu since the start of the school year. So do not be afraid nor hesitate to ask me for help."

"Thank you very much, sir," Yukiko said. Other than that attempted aggression, no one else had tried to hurt her and she hadn't heard anything offensive or uncomfortable, but it was a relief to know that she had what seemed like a good base of support on that topic.

"Now, let's get to the main event: your dorm sorting! Come here, let's finally begin," he announced as he gently pushed her back.

Yukiko looked at her brother once more as she was led towards the Dark Mirror. "It's ok," Yuu murmured as he nodded to reassure her. "We will be here."

"Finally! Ramshackle is gonna get a new student, yanno!" Grim exclaimed.

"But then it goes and the winner will be Heartslabyul," Ace replied with a smirk.

"It's time to see the result of the probability rates!" Ortho said excitedly.

"It's not my entrance ceremony, but I'm so nervous," Deuce murmured.

"Right?! Come on, tell us, tell us," Ruggie said, prepared for the result.

"Here we go," Jack murmured with a slight smile.

"Now, stand here, look at the Dark Mirror, and answer what they tell you," Crowley said before taking a few steps back, leaving Yukiko in front of the fountain over which the enormous mirror levitated. The surface of the mirror glowed with what seemed to be green flames of fire that disappeared and gave way to its spirit, the same pale, serious-looking face that looked like a mask.

"State thy name," the spirit commanded with its deep voice.

After swallowing to clear the returning nerves, Yukiko took a deep breath and looked up at the mirror. "Yukiko Oshiro," she answered decisively.

"Yukiko Oshiro..." the spirit repeated. "The shape of thy soul is..."

The silence in the Mirror Chamber rose unanimously, the only sound being Grim's repetitive mumble articulating "Ramshackle, Ramshackle, Ramshackle" over and over again. Yuu bit his lip, and squeezed the ghost camera in his hands, waiting for the answer. The headmaster and students held their breath in anticipation, some wondered if they had hit one of the dorms they considered most likely for her.

Finally, after a few seconds that seemed like forever, the Dark Mirror announced its verdict and definitive dorm for the new student:

"Savanaclaw!"
