20. Territorial
Just like the mirrors, Savanaclaw was nothing like the dorms they had seen before.
The main building was made of rock and surrounded by a barren desert area, it was hot and there were animal bones scattered around.
"Wow~! So this is Savanaclaw dorm," Deuce commented.
Grim got out of Yuu's arms to look around. "It's sturdy and seems to be made out of rocks!" He exclaimed, impressed. "This skeleton is huge! From which animal could it be?"
"It seems to be from an elephant," Yuu said just before feeling a prick in his left shoulder that gave him a bad feeling.
"This place has a totally different vibe than our dorm," Ace commented.
"Right?" Cater agreed. "It feels completely rough, doesn't it? I guess it's got a wild image in general~."
"Well, we have to look for this Jack, right? What does he look like?" Ace asked.
Cater pulled out his smartphone to check the description. "He has tan skin and silver hair," he stated. "Apparently, his trade marks are his wolf-like ears and bushy tail."
"Bushy tail..." Grim repeated thoughtfully as he looked around. "Oh, isn't that one over there?" He pointed to a specific spot with his paw. "He's runnin' alone."
Just as he said, a tall, muscular young boy in his sports uniform with wolf ears and scaled silver hair was running a few meters away from them. Yuu recognized him from seeing him in the cafeteria before.
"Bingo! Grim got this one right!" Cater exclaimed cheerfully. "He fits the description perfectly, it's him without a doubt!"
Grim smiled satisfied with his success. On the other hand, Ace and Yuu looked bewildered at the student.
"We have another just as big as those twins from before!" Ace exclaimed.
"Is he really a first year?" Yuu asked, puzzled. "He looks older than all of us!"
"Well, he's really tall and burly. That's why so many sports clubs tried to scout him," Cater said.
"With such a strong build, he's probably good at martial arts," Deuce guessed.
Yuu swallowed hard. "Do we really have to talk to him?" He asked nervously. "He seems to be the type to get upset easily if he's bothered."
"Are you nervous, little Yuu?" Cater asked animatedly before placing a hand on his shoulder. "Ok, don't worry, you'll be fine. Relax!" He winked at him. "If he tries to bite you, I'll protect you."
Those gestures from the cheerful and handsome Cater made Yuu blush slightly. "Okay, thanks," he said sheepishly as he looked away. "Come on, let's go talk to him."
As they neared the corridor, Grim stepped forward on all fours of him and stepped in front of him. "Hey, you spiky-haired guy!" He called him.
The boy stopped and looked down to see him. "Huh?" He asked with a serious expression.
"It's possible that some bad guys want to attack you, so we've decided to protect you!" He told him with a daring smile. "How 'bout that? You happy?"
Far from understanding what he had just said, Jack frowned angrily. "Who the hell are you? Don't get in the way of my running," he told him harshly as he tried to remain calm.
"Grim!" Yuu exclaimed as he and Cater rushed towards them. Ace sighed in disbelief at the monster's typical sloppy mouth.
"Wait, Gri! That way of talking will get us into trouble!" Cater exclaimed with concern as Yuu scooped Grim up and carelessly covered his mouth, disconcerting him. "Eh, sorry about him," he told Jack nervously. "Do you think you could listen to us for a moment?"
Jack crossed his arms impatiently. "And what do you want from me all of a sudden? Protect me? What are you talking about?" He asked crudely.
"Lately there have been a lot of accidents involving students who were going to be selected to participate in the Magical Shift tournament," Deuce began to explain.
"And we're looking for the culprit," Ace added.
The tall, young boy seemed to calm down a bit. "What does that have to do with me?" He asked.
"To put it simply, we think you might be a possible target, so we'd like to follow your steps in case you're attacked so we can catch the perpetrator in the act," Cater replied. "How about it? Will you cooperate with us for a bit~?"
Looking at them for a moment, Jack thought of an answer. "I refuse," he finally said. "I'll manage on my own, so I don't need your protection."
"Are you sure?" Yuu asked before taking a deep breath to keep calm and talk to him. "The situation is much serious than it looks and it could be dangerous to be alone."
In less than a second, Jack's ears pricked up sullenly as he glared at him. "I just said I don't need it," he growled sternly, but his face relaxed as he noticed Yuu's startle. "Besides, I highly doubt I could be targeted. See you."
And he continued running.
"Ah, and there he goes," Cater sighed.
"What a rude guy, yanno?" Grim said under his breath with a frown.
"With way you talked to him, anyone would be annoyed," Ace replied.
"Argh!" Grim shrieked in frustration. "Having to choose a way to talk to everyone makes humans a pain!"
"Hey, what are you doing here?" A deep voice asked them.
Three tall, burly Savanaclaw students with tanned complexions approached them with hostile vibes.
"They're from Heartslabyul," the red-haired boy with pointed black ears observed.
"He he he! They're that red-haired brat's grunts!" The silver-haired student with hippopotamus ears laughed.
"Did you really think you could walk onto our territory and then leave like nothing?" The student with brown hair and hippopotamus ears asked.
The four young boys flinched at the sight of them, including Deuce, who remained calm while talking to Jack. "Ugh. This pattern..." He murmured.
"Ah, we're leaving! Sorry for the intrusion~!" Ace exclaimed with a nervous smile to hide his nervousness.
The red-haired student gave a mischievous smile that was up to no good. "Come on, don't be like that. Hang out with us for a bit!" He insisted.
"He he he!" The silver-haired boy laughed again. "Let's play the game of predator and prey! Of course, you'll be the prey!"
Trying to control the shaking of his hands, Yuu held the ghost camera resolutely. "I-I'm afraid it won't be possible! We have to leave as soon as possible," he told them.
"Wow, wow! The little guy has guts to talk!" The brown-haired student exclaimed. "I think we're going to have good time with ya."
"Stop it," said a deep, authoritative but calm voice near them.
The newcomers were the two animal-eared boys from the botanical garden Yuu and Grim met when they went to get chestnuts for the tarts. The person who spoke was the tall, long-haired young man.
"Dorm leader Leona!" The brown-haired student exclaimed upon seeing him.
"These guys were trespassing on our territory!" The redhead explained indignantly.
"We're just going to mess with them a bit! He he he!" The silver-haired one exclaimed.
Looking at them, Ruggie recognized them. "Oh? You're the guys I saw at the cafeteria," he said.
Grim also recognized him as the boy who had taken his precious sandwich. "Oh, you!" He exclaimed angrily. "Deluxe minced cutlet sandwich!"
"Woah, woah. Don't go around calling people by delicious sounding names," Ruggie urged. "I've got a very manly name and it's Ruggie Bucchi, y'know."
Leona looked at Yuu and scowled aggressively. "Ah, now that I look at you better, I see you're the herbivore that stepped on my tail in the botanical garden," he said while shaking his tail effusively.
The three students turned dangerously towards Yuu.
"Whaaat? Dorm leader Leona's tail?" The brown-haired student asked.
"We won't forgive that," added the redhead.
"I-I already apologized for that...!" Yuu reminded Leona.
"We don't need your simple apology here," the brown-haired student claimed.
"Oh, I see. I was wondering where I've seen you two before, it was in the botanical garden," Ruggie commented.
"Leona, Ruggie, let's show 'em who's boss," the red-haired student suggested.
"Stop barking up a fuss, you idiots," Leona told them calmly. "We'll be disqualified from the tournament if we get into a violent fight. Do you want that?"
"Are you sayin' we should ignore these trespassers? But they're such tasty looking prey, especially this black-haired little guy."
"No one said anything about ignoring them," Leona said before giving a mischievous smile, removing the relief from the young Heartslabyul's boys. "Let's settle this matter 'peacefully' with a game of Magical Shift."
"With Magift?" The brown-haired student asked curiously.
"That way we can use all the magic we want without breaking the rules," Leona added as he crossed his arms.
"Shi, shi, shi, shi! You're such a bully, Leona! These guys don't look like they can handle more than one game," Ruggie laughed malevolently.
That mockery hit the pride of Ace and Grim, who grunted under his breath and asked Yuu with paw gestures to lower him to the ground. "I ain't gonna sit still after hearing all that!" He announced.
"Ah, apparently we can't refuse" Deuce sighed.
"Okay, let's do this," Ace said with a mischievous grin. "Cater, don't forget to watch us as this were the tryouts, got it~?
"Eeh, seriously~? You leave me no choice." He sighed in disbelief before turning to Yuu. "Little prefect, you watch us from somewhere safe. Let us know if the other team tries to do something weird."
Yuu tightened his grip on the ghost camera once more and took a deep breath. "Understood."
They were led into a huge sports stadium that seemed to be made for playing Magical Shift. The players entered the field while Yuu sat in the audience stands, so he could watch closely enough both teams, who had already their magical pens out.
The game started in no time.
"I'll show you what I'm made of!" Grim exclaimed decisively.
"Now's your only chance to say stuff like that! Shi, shi, shi!" Ruggie laughed, underestimating them.
"Come on! It won't be fun if you don't show any guts," Leona said proudly. "Come and get us whenever you want, herbivores!"
Yuu got his first close watch at a real Magift match. As Cater flew over the field on a broom, Deuce, Grim, and Ace ran across the field while attacking and carrying the disk with magic. Whenever other Savanaclaw students tried to attack them or take the disk from them, they always managed to dodge them or create a shield of protection.
For quite a while, the boys from Heartslabyul and Grim kept up a good streak.
"Cool! We're getting ahead of 'em!" Grim exclaimed with pride and confidence.
However, Ace couldn't help but have a bad feeling about the game. "These Savanaclaw guys are smiling suspiciously... I have a bad feeling about this..." He commented.
"It's true, Acey! You have a good intuition," replied Cater, who had also been suspicious of them.
Ruggie approached Leona with a scheming laugh. "They're better than we thought, Leona," he admitted.
"Yes... More than I thought," Leona whispered. "Not for much longer."
From that moment on, Savanaclaw students became much more violent on the field, they pounced on Grim and the Heartslabyul boys with more speed and the offense was stronger, even Ruggie surprised everyone hanging upside down from a partner's broom to unleash attacks with his magical pen from the air.
From a distance, Yuu could see the exhaustion reflected in his friends' expressions while Savanaclaw students seemed to enjoy the situation. Realizing that this was the way to mess with them without breaking the rules, he began taking pictures with the ghost camera, in case the situation got worse.
Shortly after that, Leona came to snatch the puck from them just as they were close to the goal to score points.
"We were so close to the goal!" Deuce growled in frustration.
Leona stopped in front of them and moved the disk from side to side. "Don't you see we're just messing with you?" He asked mockingly before launching the disk at the goal in a single shot. It is worth mentioning that he had thrown it from the middle of the field, so Yuu, Grim and the Heartslabyul boys were stunned by their rival's strength and aim.
"What's with that long shot?! That's a super play!" Ace exclaimed.
"Come on, let's play one more. Heh, heh, heh," Leona proposed with pride and arrogance for his victory.
The only responses he got were the Heartslabyul players' pants, even Grim's eyes were watering from exhaustion. Fearing that something was going to happen to them, Yuu got down from the stands and ran towards them.
"This is crazy... We couldn't even score once," Ace panted in frustration.
"There's no openings in their formations...," Deuce muttered.
"Ah... Leona is known to be a formidable player..." Cater gasped. "We don't stand a chance against them with just the five of us..."
"Hey, what's wrong? Are you done already?" Leona asked arrogantly.
"Shi, shi, shi, shi! Where'd that reckless spirit from before go?" Ruggie laughed.
"Come on, stand up, herbivores! Let's play one more!" Leona demanded.
Just at that moment Yuu had finished reaching them. "Please, stop!" He exclaimed before crouching down next to Deuce to try helping him. "This is exactly the same as bullying."
Ruggie raised an eyebrow as he watched his ghost camera dangle to the side. "Leona, this guy has been taking pictures of us while we were playing, should we do something 'bout it?" He asked.
"Of course, if it isn't the headmaster's little guy we have here," Leona observed. "He's done nothing but take photos at one game, nothing particularly incriminating against us, but it would be troublesome if shows him about our 'special tactics' towards our guests."
Standing up, Yuu held his camera protectively and gave them a decisive look. "You've already shown us your point, so let us go this instant," he told them.
Far from wanting to listen to him, Leona crossed his arms sternly. "He must have the photos in his jacket or pockets," he guessed before directing a measurement at two students. "Take them."
The Heartslabyul students gasped.
"Yuu!" Grim exclaimed with a start as he watched the two students reach their huge hands towards the concerned prefect.
He tried to run, but one of them got ahead of him to grab him by the shoulders and the other began to inspect his jacket. "Let me go!"
"Leave him alone!" Deuce exclaimed as he tried to get up as quickly as possible.
"I said let me go!"
Of all the defense methods that he knew and that Yukiko had recommended to him, he remembered two of the fastest and most effective he could perform at that moment.
He didn't take long to pinch the inspector's arm, just below the armpit, and knee with all his strength the one holding him in the nether regions.
The first moved away and the second backed away in pain, Yuu wasted no time in turning away from them and returning to his friends.
Leona looked surprised at the quick action of that little herbivore, as he called him, he didn't expect him to have enough claws to fight back.
Before one of those two students wanted to pounce on the prefect and the Heartslabyul students again, someone else from Savanaclaw stepped in front of them protectively.
"What are you doing!?" Jack hissed as he glared at his dormmates.
"Huh? We're just messing with these intruders," Leona answered nonchalantly.
"What's fun about bullying helpless newbies?" Jack bellowed, without changing his expression.
"What's this? Look at you, Jack, playing the cool hero of justice. Shi, shi, shi!" Ruggie commented mockingly.
"I can't just stand by and watch something heinous like this," Jack justified himself.
Leona clicked his tongue in disbelief. "Ah, but listen to yourself," he mumbled, as if he didn't expect that action of him.
"Hey, Jack! You're sure cheeky for a first-year brat!" A silver-haired student growled.
Jack gave him a fierce look. "Look who's talking. Would a senior do something like this?"
"Come again!? Do you want to end up like 'em!?"
Leona raised an arm in front of him to stop him. "Ha, you really have guts, first-year brat," he commented. "Anyway, I'm already bored. There's no point in fighting you anymore." He turned his back on them to leave. "Let's go, Ruggie."
"Yessir~." He said before following him.
"The next time you think of trespassing our territory, we won't make it so easy for you!" The red-haired student warned them before leaving with his dormmates.
After seeing that they were out of danger, Grim and the boys approached Jack.
"Thank you..." Yuu murmured, still feeling the fear in his body.
"Oh, ha, ha. I've shown you an uncool side of me." Cater laughed awkwardly.
"Your name was Jack, right? You saved us," Deuce thanked him.
"It's nothing, it's not like I was trying to help you or anything," Jack said as he looked away.
"But you could have done nothing," Yuu told him. "Whatever your intention was, your action helped us out of that confrontation. So thanks a lot..."
Not knowing what else to say, Jack just looked away in response.
"Oh, I'm very dirty. Let's go back to the dorm now," Ace suggested.
"I'm hungry," Grim complained as Yuu held him in his arms.
"Well, Jack, we're leaving, but be careful," Cater said.
"You're in no condition to worry about me," Jack answered insistently. "Hurry up and go back home."
Before leaving, Yuu looked at him for a few short seconds and noticed a quite sad look on Jack's face. He guessed it was because of what had just happened.
"Guys, are you okay?" He asked his friends.
"I'm fine, but what about you?" Ace asked him. "Those guys tried to hurt you too."
"I didn't know you could punch like that," Grim told him. "My jaw dropped when you kneed him in all the middle, ha ha!"
Yuu shrugged. "It wasn't such a big deal, all boys have weak point in common," he replied, making everyone gulp or look away from just imagining the pain. "The pinch thing was something I learned on a website about self-defense. By the way, I want to see if the headmaster is in his office to show him the photos, they may not show more than a game, but they'll serve to tell him about their intentions."
"I'll go with you," Deuce offered. "You could need a witness."
"No, you've already done a lot for today, you should go back with the others."
"As weird as this sounds, Deuce's right," Ace insisted, earning an offended look from Deuce. "I'll go with you too, we'll have less problems with Savanaclaw if we tell him about this."
"Okay, go with him. I'll let Riddle know you'll be here later," Cater informed them.
Yuu sighed and finally accepted the company. It wasn't long before sunset by the time they headed to school.
"Come in," the headmaster's voice sounded from inside his office after he knocked on the door. Opening it, they found him sitting at his desk, reading a paper. "Oh, but if it isn't young Yuu and Grim together with young Trappola and Spade. What brings you here? Have you found the culprit of the accidents yet?"
"Not yet, but you told me to report you with photographs in case students broke the rules."
Crowley put the paper down on the desk and looked at the prefect carefully. "Did something happen? Show them to me, what is it about?"
He pulled out the photos he had taken and the young men discussed what they had just experienced in the Savanaclaw dorm.
"I see..." Crowley muttered as he took one more look at the photographs. It's no secret that many Savanaclaw students tend to have a territorial streak when they see other students walking by for no apparent reason, let alone the fact that they tend to be... troublesome, in the sense of picking fights. To think that they would use Magical Shift as a method to pick on students without breaking the rules! My goodness!" He cleared his throat to regain his calm. "Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention, I'll have a word with the young Kingscholar when I am done here."
"Understood," they all said at once.
"Well, before you go, you said that strong and corpulent students basically charged at you on the playing field with all their might. How are you doing? Did you suffer any strong physical damages?"
Before they could answer, someone hurriedly knocked on the door.
"Er... Come in?" Crowley invited the unexpected person.
The door was almost flung open.
"Everyone!" Riddle exclaimed in alarm as soon as he saw them. "Are you okay?"
"Dorm leader!" Ace and Deuce exclaimed at the same time.
"Sorry for the intrusion!" Riddle apologized as he panted closer to the first years. "But Cater told me everything, you aren't hurt, right?"
"Uh, no. We're fine," Ace told him, somewhat disconcerted by his leader's panicked expression.
"I should have been there! That way they wouldn't have even dare to touch any of you!"
"Please don't say that, dorm leader Rosehearts!" Deuce insisted. "Nobody knew they were going to do that and you were busy with something else."
After listening to them, Riddle approached Yuu. "He also told me they tried to harm you to take away the evidence, what have they done to you!?"
"Nothing, I'm fine..." Yuu assured.
Far from convinced, Riddle placed his hands on his shoulders. "Do you really mean it? Cater said you seemed scared even after you left. Did they dare to lay their hands on you? Did they steal something from you? Did they hurt you in any way?" he asked quickly. "Don't be afraid to tell me! It will be off with the heads of the culprits, I'm a dorm leader after all!"
Yuu sighed and placed his hands over Riddle's with a reassuring smile to gently remove them. "Don't worry Riddle, it's true that I'm still a bit nervous about it, but they didn't really do anything to me. You can be sure."
Riddle finished calming down and sighed with relief. "I'm relieved to hear that... But remember, you can count on me if something happens and I'm able to do something about it."
"Ok, thanks!"
"Hey, Deuce," Ace whispered. "Don't you also think that the dorm leader and Yuu seem to get along pretty well?"
"Yeah, I've noticed it too," Deuce said. "They seem almost close since the Overblot incident."
Grim climbed on Ace's shoulders to whisper to him as well. "Shortly before the Unbirthday Party Yuu said he ran into him and talked together for a while. Maybe it had somethin' to do, yanno?"
"Oh, friends worrying about each other..." Crowley murmured, moved. "It's always a nice thing to see!"
"This could be useful for us," Ace whispered, amused. "Maybe he'll be even more lenient with us in case we break the rules."
"You know we can hear you, right?" Riddle asked them sternly.
Yuu and Riddle were staring at them, something that made them pale a bit.
"Well, as I've said, I'll take care of this from here, so you can go back to your dorms, it's getting late," Crowley told them. "Oh, before I forget: young Yuu, if you get another mysterious box like this morning, please let me know."
"Mysterious box?" Riddle repeated curiously.
"Oh, it's something that happened this morning," Grim explained. "When we left Ramschackle in the morning, we found a gift box containing slippers, some socks and a music player."
"Yes, an MP3," Yuu clarified. "I don't know who could be the sender, it wasn't written anywhere."
"A MP3? Who still uses that? Now everyone listens to music on their phones," Ace sighed, incredulous.
"I guess I do for the time being..." Yuu sighed in turn.
"Don't complain like that, that music was given for educational purposes," Crowley reminded.
"What do you mean, headmaster?" Riddle asked him.
"I listened to this music with young Yuu and there were some popular songs and nursery rhymes like 'Under the Sea', 'Everyone's Yahoo' or 'In a Land of My Own'."
"Oh, we learnt that last one in kindergarten when we were kids!" Deuce said after recognizing the title. "I remember my mother used to sing it to me as a lullaby to sleep."
"If it's about well-known songs, isn't there at least 'Piece of My World'?" Ace asked. "I think that should be also considered as musical culture."
"I don't know, I'll check it later," Yuu said.
"It seems strange to me that a postman leaves a mail delivery without any notice, didn't you hear something like a knock on the door?" Riddle asked, receiving a negative gesture from Yuu and Grim as answer.
"I do not ignore that detail, young Rosehearts," the headmaster said. "We have no idea who the sender could be, so I want to make sure those strange boxes don't contain anything weird or dangerous." He smiled. "But at the best case, someone like a fairy godmother or a guardian angel might just want to give you a little help with small details like those."
"A guardian?" Ace and Deuce repeated at the same time.
"The box was wrapped in some beautiful paper and its contents will come in handy in your day-to-day life, not to mention that it was also adorable," Crowley added. "In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it was from a secret admirer."
"Headmaster!" Yuu exclaimed, blushing slightly. "I've already told you that's impossible."
"A secret admirer?" Deuce asked before widening his eyes.
Ace raised an eyebrow mischievously and smirked. "Have you got yourself a partner, Yuu?" He asked to annoy him. "How come you haven't told us anything? It's someone from class?"
Yuu's face reddened even more. "Not you too!"
"Oh, I didn't think it may be someone from school," Crowley said. "This could be the beginning of an interesting love story!"
"Come on, stop it," Riddle told them. "I highly doubt a Night Raven College student would have any intention of giving anyone anything like this, much less such a peculiar selection."
Yuu sighed in relief and crossed his arms. "Now, at last, we hear some sense!"
"But there can always be exceptions," Riddle said pensive as he put a hand to his chin. "I don't know much about these things, but if the headmaster is right, it may be someone who wanted to give you something useful to make sure you'll like it."
"Riddle!?" Yuu exclaimed in shock and embarrassment.
Even Ace and Grim, who was still on his shoulder, laughed at the dorm leader's sudden and strange musing. "Even the dorm leader thinks so," Ace muttered.
"Hey, don't laugh!" Yuu exclaimed. "Remember what the headmaster just said, what if it's actually dangerous or if this 'admirer' turns out to be a stalker?"
Crowley cleared his throat and straightened his back to collect himself. "Of course, we don't know if another delivery will have the same intentions as the first one. So let me know, okay?" Yuu nodded. "Well, you can retire, I wish you a good rest until tomorrow."
They finally said goodbye and went out into the hall.
"Out of curiosity," Riddle said to Yuu, "is the Crocodile Song in that musical repertoire?"
Hearing that title made Yuu feel a slight cramp in his left shoulder and, for some reason, think of hypnotic flute music. "I don't know," he said as he massaged his shoulder, "I still haven't listened to every song on the MP3. Is it a well-known song?"
"Yes, it's a nursery rhyme from the famed Wonderland, ruled by the Queen of Hearts. I never get tired of hearing that song, it's the one I suggest the most for Rule #304: 'On days when a hedgehog sneezes, all the soldier-cards must come together to sing a song'."
"Of all the rules you've mentioned that's the weirdest of them all, yanno?" Grim mumbled.
"Yeah, I remember that rule," Ace sighed. "Last weekend we had to gather in the dorm's courtroom..."
"Oh, do you also have a courtroom like the the Queen of Hearts had in your dorm?" Yuu asked, surprised.
"Yes, where did you learn that form?" Ace asked.
Yuu was startled. "Eh... I read about it in the book I asked for from the library," he lied, since he knew about that courtroom through her dreams, in which Alice confronted the Queen's tyranny. A feeling told him that it was better not to mention the girl, he couldn't say why.
His answer was convincing enough.
"It is said that one of the most famous trials of the Queen of Hearts was against a girl," Ace said
Yuu looked at him again and felt a lump form in his throat. "Are you talking about the blonde girl in the blue dress who played croquet with her?" He dared to ask.
"I see you've studied her story a lot," Riddle commented. "Yes, apparently the Queen accused the girl of breaking one of her rules and put her on trial at the request of her husband, the King, instead of beheading her. It turned out that the girl was innocent and let her go."
Yuu frowned, since he didn't remember the story going like that.
"Thank goodness," Ace sighed. "Literally beheading someone innocent at the cost of a misunderstanding related to rules... It gives me goosebumps. Yuu, Deuce, why are you looking at me like that?" He asked when he realized they were glaring angrily at him.
Yuu pointed with a head gesture at Riddle, who was staring at the ground.
"I wasn't talking about you, dorm leader!" Ace exclaimed hastily. "You already apologized and... you're trying hard to be a better leader!"
"I know, but just the fact of thinking about..."
"Don't think about it anymore!" Yuu insisted. "Just like Trey told you, go slow. You're doing it fine."
Riddle smiled sheepishly and nodded.
"Well, let's change the subject, yanno?" Grim exclaimed as he got down to the ground. "Let's think who could be Yuu's mysterious admirer!"
"Grim!" Yuu exclaimed. "I told you to stop that nonsense."
Ace laughed. "But why does this topic bother you that much? Does it make you feel shy?"
"I admit it does a bit, but the thing is that this box had nothing to point out someone likes me. Also, the headmaster was joking, I don't even think he thinks that could actually be the case."
"I guess we'll find out who the sender is if they send you another box," Riddle guessed. "But remember that we still have the matter of the mysterious accidents, let's focus on that now," he remembered. "Let's meet tomorrow morning on the main street to continue with the investigation."
