Night 3, Part 3
Rachel's POV:
We were walking down the dreary hall for what seemed like hours. Ashlyn lead the way with her orb like flashlight. Julie hung at the back with a small fire light of her own.
"Are we there yet?" She asked, not enjoying being around so many people. Emily picked up a rock and threw it at Julie.
The group came to a sudden stop, and I crashed into Theo.
"Oww..." she spun around and glared at me.
"Sorryy..."
"Guys, we made it." Ashlyn gave us a nervous glance. Anna pushed her way to the front.
"Dude there's nothing here but another drop." She shook her head. Ashlyn crouched down.
"Well let's see what's down there." Her light dispersed as she pushed herself down the slide like drop. We waited.
"It's safe!" Ashlyn yelled from the darkness. We followed her down the slide. I was one of the last to go down. This thing was like a freaking rollercoaster. The walls tossed me around until I spilled out on the ground head first. Everything was spinning as I propped myself up.
"My bow!" Anna gasped and rushed over to a table by the wall. This room was much different than anything in the Maze. The walls were a blinding white with one wall bearing giant glass windows, and a cold linoleum floor covered the ground. I squinted over to where Anna was standing. She held up a bright purple bow and arrow with black ribbon tied crisscrossed all over the neck. A black velvet arrow quiver was laid next to it, full of black and purple wooden arrows. She slung the quiver and bow over her shoulder. Ashlyn wandered over to the table. She picked up a giant white and silver sword. Tearfully, she slid it into her hilt on her hip.
A loud crash filled the room and yelling echoed off the walls. I jumped up.
"Down here!"
"Bring them outside!" The voices came from outside the room. A sea of black helmeted people came rushing past the windows and to the center door. They crashed in, guns pointed. Anna had a arrow notched in her bow, and Ashlyn raised her sword.
"Put down the weapons!" The mystery people yelled at them. The two didn't move. Anna shot the arrow at one's chest and they fell to the ground. A smaller helmet man shoved their way forward before anyone could shoot us.
"Ay! Stand down! We want them alive." The voice sounded feminine yet stern. You couldn't tell any of their features with the bulky black suits covering every inch of their bodies. They had giant biker helmets on their heads, reflective visors recently polished. The rest of the mystery people pushed past the smaller one, grabbing our arms and raising guns to our heads.
"Move!" They ordered us. I was terrified. They pulled me forword, and down the bright hallway. My feet skid across the floor as the rushed us out. At the end of the hall sat a pair of heavy doors. The small biker girl once again pushed herself to the front, and pried open the doors. The men dragged me out and sand blew in my face. I tried to cover myself, but one of them yanked my hand away. They carried us to a poorly painted black bus. But before they could throw us on, numerous shots rang out behind me. Panic flowed over me. Were my friends alive? Then the men next to me dropped lifeless into the sand.
"Damn girl what's your problem?" I heard Anna's voice. I turned and saw my friends standing there, free of their guards. The biker girl ripped her helmet off.
"Getting us far away from here." She marched passed me and into the bus. We stood in the sand in confusion. The girl popped her head out of the door.
"Are you coming?" She asked. Theo quickly climbed up the steps and I felt my heart being tugged.
"What's your name, anyways?" I gave the new girl a suspicious look.
"Bayron. Now let's go." We shrugged and followed her. There was an older man without a helmet sitting in the driver's seat. He gave us a little salute as we sat down in the rows.
"Ready for the ride of your life?" He smiled and started the bus. Soon we were racing over dunes at full speed, into the night.
