Day 2

Skylar's POV:
It was late afternoon, and we were all lying around the tent. Grace went off to search for special herbs to further treat Ashlyn's wound, and Annalisa proclaimed herself the camp's watch-guard.
Just then, Anna jogged into camp with a certain light in her eyes.
"Sky, I got some ladies who'd like to see you." She jabbed her thumb over her shoulder while glancing at me curiously. There, in the doorway, stood two girls; one taller than the other, dressed in dirty torn shirts and baggy pants. I recognized the two immediately as Meson and Theodora. They were the only two humans who really helped me once I came to the Glade.
"Meson! Theo! Lovely seeing you two here," a warm smile spread across my face.
"Shuck it Skylar, why don't you tell us what hell happened yesterday?" Meson crossed her arms over her chest.
"Wait, you're the girl who stopped me!" Ashlyn exclaimed, wrapping her arms around mine.
"Yeah well you don't listen very well." Her eyes examined Ash up and down. There was tension in the air, and I chuckled to lighten the mood.
"Uh Meson, Theo; these are my friends I've been telling you about. This is Rachel, Julie, Anna, and Ashlyn." I pointed to each of us as introduction.
"You're Ashlyn? Skylar talks a lot about you." Meson winked, and I felt my cheeks burn red. Ashlyn just smiles, rolls her eyes and releases her hold on my arm. Anna's eyes dart to the girls in the doorway, and over to me. She hustles over and pulls my shoulder to her level as she whispers in my ear.
"They said they found a way to escape. And apparently you know what that means." She pulls away and looks back over to the girls. My face turns to stone, and I start to ponder on what this 'escape' exactly is.
"We must call for a meeting," Anna cleared her throat, "it involves our escape from the Glade."

After Juliana was sent to bring Grace back, the meeting started. We all gathered around a fire-place-looking circle of stones in the middle of camp.
"I, Meson, am the keeper of the runners. We map out the maze, searching for some kind of pattern." Meson announced. Then, Theo, who hasn't said anything since her arrival, spoke.
"I, Theodora, am a runner. Ever since I came up into the Glade I've been helping Meson find some sort of escape." The mousy brunette girl looked intimidated, and kept glancing at Rachel.
"Have you found anything so far?" Anna cautioned, not sure she should trust the Gladers.
"We found a cliff, that free falls into clouds." Meson sighed.
"We can take you guys and you can see for yourselves," nodded Theo, eyeing Rachel for approval. Rachel just stared at the girl in wonder. Julie on the other hand, tried to inch closer to Meson and seemed very intrigued. I could sense something happening here, the way the two were acting.
"That's great! We'll head out tomorrow then." I declared. Theo opened her mouth as to say something, but was interrupted by Meson.
"Not everyone can come." Meson eyed Ashlyn's bandaged gut. I felt kinda bad that Ash was seen as the weakest in the group. Ashlyn slipped her hand into mine and glared at Meson. Meson just rolled her eyes
"It's to dangerous. I don't even let my runners go in large groups. It makes you more at risk. And if you get separated, you might as well be dead." She spat. The group fell silent. We all looked amongst each other to see who would volunteer. No one spoke up, and I could feel that my friends were scared. Meson seemed to feel the tension as well and softened a bit.
"Theo and I will go, and we'll take two of you at most." Ashlyn squeezed my hand, and whispered to me,
"Take Anna. You two are strong." I looked at her, worry in her golden eyes. Then I turned my attention to Annalisa.
"Anna, would you like to join the girls and I to check out our escape?" Anna smirked and uncrossed her legs.
"Hell yeah!"
"Tomorrow morning then," Meson hopped up. She held out her hand to me and I stood to shake it. Anna stretched and grabbed Meson by the arm and led her out of the tent. Theo slowly rose, waved at Rachel, and hurried after her friend.

The sky was darkening, and a small fire was burning in the pit. Ashlyn was stretched out across my lap, trying to see the stars through the leafy treetops.
"Meson's kinda hot," Julie sighed.
"I'll make sure to tell her that tomorrow." I laughed. Julie stuck out her tongue at me.
"Do you think Theo likes me or was she just being friendly?" Rachel half muttered, seeming to be in a trance. Ash shot right up, almost knocking me in the jaw with her head.
"You do realize they're human, right?"
She lectured the two lovesick faes. They both sighed. And here we go again with the drama.
"Chill out Ash, we're not into them. Just saying..." Julie shrugged. Yet their regretting lip biting said otherwise. We milled around in silence, as the night grew colder and the fire grew bigger. Each of us found spots dense with leaves and moss to lay upon, attempting to sleep our worries away.
