[03] The Fushiguros

Reader POV

Megumi and I slipped into a comfortable routine of getting through the day and then me bringing him to my home after school.

I would help him with homework and for every homework sheet he got entirely, I would reward him with a sticker on the chart.

If he got all five days of the week with a gold star (that I let him put on himself), I agreed to come to dinner with him and his father on Friday or sometime over the weekend.

So far it has been working for the past month and a half.

We were currently at a restaurant right now and the waiter mistakenly thought Megumi was my son as we checked in.

"Ma'am, does your son want a coloring book?" He asked me kindly.

Megumi spoke before I could correct our young waiter. "Yes please!"

He exchanged looks with his father that didn't go unnoticed by me.

Megumi skipped ahead leaving Toji and I to follow.

"So...I assume you'll be free next weekend?" He asked me.

"That depends if Megumi can get through another week of correct homework," I said to him teasingly. "But if he does, I'm available. Just not on Sunday."

"I see. Megs wanted to take you to our special place where I met his mom, so..." Toji looked slightly embarrassed.

"I'd love to go. However..." I looked at Toji. "What's really going on here, Toji?"

"What do you mean?"

"I'm not stupid. I know you and Megumi are planning something."

Toji shivered. "Just as sharp as I remember. Yes, we are. But that's for us to know-" he patted my head and sat down at the table. "And for you to find out."

I sat next to Megumi and gave them a sigh, shaking my head. "Very well."

"Did you tell her?" Megumi became very excited.

"Not yet kiddo," Toji held a finger to his lips. "Don't spill the secret, Megs."

"Aye, sir!" He pretended to salute and went back to coloring on the kid's menu.

I decided to get a pork cutlet bowl in honor of my friend Yuri Katsuki who was an olympic figure skater.

"Whatchu getting?" Toji asked me kindly.

"A pork cutlet bowl," I said proudly. "And you?"

"I'm getting what she's getting!" Megumi declared.

"That makes two of us," Toji frowned. "But I warn you: I like my food spicy."

___________

Megumi had fallen asleep in the back of Toji's car and we were driving back to our neighborhood.

"So...high school," Toji began. "I knew of you and you knew of me, right?"

"That's right," I smiled faintly. "You were in year three and I was in year two. I knew of you as the gangster of the school."

"And you were one of the nerds," he chuckled. "Didn't you do marching band? I think I might've seen you at the games."

"I was! I played alto sax." I was shocked a football head like him even knew. "I didn't know you knew."

"How could I not?" He smiled. "Everyone on the damn team would play their best if you were around. Let's just say they really really liked you."

I looked away with a blush. "Ha. That's funny."

"No, I'm absolutely serious. The guys would become so flustered when we saw you at school-and I remember your brother Ikumi would glare at all of them when they so much as looked at you."

"That's definitely Ikumi," I laughed. "I remember him specifically saying to me '(n/n) if the boys ever come near you, kick them where the sun doesn't shine'."

"Yeah. He said that to mostly me." Toji glanced at me briefly but my eyes were on on the mirror making sure Megumi was fine. "I uh...had a crush on you. And he knew it. Guess my rep as the gangster didn't help so I never really got the chance to be near you."

A crimson blush appeared on my face and I looked at Toji. "Huh?! But you're the Toji! Every girl had a crush on you!"

"Including you?" He teased me.

I stuck my tongue at him playfully. "Shut it. But I'm serious! You could've had anyone and you had a crush on me. Why?!"

"You're a beautiful but sharp and intelligent woman," he said honestly as he pulled into my driveway. "You don't find that often."

"Oh-"

"And pardon my French, but most girls who threw themselves at me were sluts."

I cringed as I remembered all the girls who would swoon over him would wear smaller skirts and wear visible bras but he just politely gave them his jacket to cover them up for their safety and that backfired on him.

"Oh yeah. I just never noticed that part," I shrugged. "I mean you were in two grades above me. I'd have no reason to land my sights on you. And to be honest you startled me every time I saw you."

"Oh shit...sorry," he began. "Never meant to. Maybe I should've listened to my dad when he said I should start cleaning up my appearance."

"Maybe." I looked at him. "Well, this is my place. You're welcome to come in and talk. Megumi can sleep in the guest room-if you let me carry him."

"Alright then, ma'am."

I carried Megumi up the stairs and brought him to one of the guest rooms, my cat Nico curling at the foot of the bed and promising me non-verbally no harm would come to the sleeping boy.

Toji whistled as soon as the door was closed. "I knew your family made money, but I didn't know how nice your house was. It's very minimalist but just perfect."

"Thank you," I said. "Go wash your hands in the bathroom to the right and I'll make some tea, okay? Then we can talk more."

"I've always loved the smell of tea," I said as soon as he came downstairs.

"Me too. My wife used to make tea all the time. Made our old house smell quite nice."

"yeah..."

"Oh that reminds me. Your co-workers do know that Megumi comes home with you and of course the sticker thing?"

"They don't know about the sticker thing, but no harm. Megumi will be in kindergarten in three more months anyway. I won't be his teacher anymore."

"You seem sad about that," Toji noted.

"I am. I love all my students. Even my single problem child Sukuna. They're all so sweet and adorable."

The tall male nodded. "I agree. Megs himself said to me 'Dad can you marry Ms. Shigakima? I want her as my Mommy'."

Our faces were red and I sighed.

"Well...Mr. Buff Guy, you'd have to fight little Sukuna for my hand in marriage!"

"Eh?! Cheeky little shit..." he cracked his knuckles teasingly. "I'll just have to show him who's boss here."

"I suppose so," I smiled sweetly. "But did Megumi really say that?"

"He's been saying it since the first damn week of class," Toji informed me. "I didn't think much of it until I discovered Megs looking at my old high school yearbook and he said to me, 'Dad! That's my teacher' and it was a photo of you."

"Wow." I looked down at my teacup. "That's so adorable."

"Isn't it?" Toji sighed. "Too bad he's still your student."

"Hm?"

Toji leaned closer to me and lifted my fave gently with two fingers. "I'd love to make you mine-with your consent of course-but I don't think that will be appropriate until he's no longer in your class. I don't want you to be accused of showing favoritism."

My face was so red when he moved his face closer, his hot breath hitting my ear.

"Sorry pretty lady."

He moved away and clapped his hands in a serious manner. "Now! Let's get this cleaned up."

"I'll do it," I said quickly. "You can go lie down with Megumi. But make sure to approach Nico slowly otherwise he'll claw your eyes out."

"Will do." Toji patted my head and walked upstairs.

I was left alone with my face a deep red.

I took a few breaths to calm down and start cleaning up.

I had a feeling Toji liked me, but I didn't believe it until now.

Well this could either be the best or worst thing that happens to me!

I fed my fish again once I was done cleaning up and went to go check on the sleeping people upstairs plus a furball.

Nico's ear moved when I quietly entered the room and saw Toji holding his son protectively while sleeping.

I snapped a photo to send to him later, chuckling.

I moved the blanket up more and patted their heads, resisting the urge to kiss their cheeks so I settled for kissing their foreheads.

Nico meowed at me and I scooped him up and
gave him a sweet kiss on the head and placed him down on the bed.

I closed the door quietly and went to my own room to sleep, not bothering to close the door just in case.
