[01] The Class

Before I get anyone up in my face, please go read the warnings. If you ignore the warnings and be rude in the comments, it's just gonna make us all annoyed so go read the damn warning ;)

This story will not follow the plot
from the manga or anime.

In this story, Megumi doesn't
have a stepsister.

Reader POV

"Sukuna, please don't slap your brother!" I gave my problem child a sweet smile but my eyes held a deep warning.

The cheeky boy stared into my eyes and dropped his twin Yuji, coming over to me and grabbing my hand with his tiny ones. "Marry me, Ms. Shigakima!"

I looked down at the otherwise sweet boy with a fond smile. "Maybe if you stop slapping your brother's face for a whole day, I'll think about it,"

"Really??" Sukuna waddled off to go apologize to Yuji and I watched for a few moments before I felt someone tug my long skirt.

"Ms. Shigakima?"

I looked down to see cute little Kugisaki Nobara showing me a pile of sand from the sand box. "What's that, Nobara?"

"It's a secret," she said in a hushed manner and put some of the sand in my hands. "But I'll tell you if you promise not to tell anyone!"

I nodded, amused. "I promise I won't."

"It's magic sand! You can make a wish and it will come true!"

"How do you know it's magic sand?" I asked her.

"I wished for yesterday's snack to be oreos! And it was! Daddy packed then for me!"

I stared down at the magic sand. "Alright. Can you tell me how it works?"

"Yes! You have to think really hard! Oh and close your eyes!"

I did as she instructed. "I wish for everyone in the class to have a fun time on the school trip to the aquarium."

"Now count to three and then open your eyes!"

I did as she said and when I was done, the cheerful girl clapped her hands and took the sand back to the sandbox, giving me the sweetest smile ever.

My gaze drifted towards the silent boy of the class, Fushiguro Megumi.

He was sitting on the swings by himself, staring at the shark tooth necklace he always wore.

"Megumi? What's wrong?" I sat down on the swing next to him.

He shrugged and handed me the necklace. "Mommy' used to wear this necklace. She gave it to me before she died."

I looked down at the necklace. "Your Mommy was a marine biologist, right?"

"Yeah." Megumi took back the shark necklace. "She found this shark tooth that belonged to a megaladon. One of the largest ancient sharks known to history."

"You really know your sharks," I said as I tried to lift his mood. "Can you tell me something cool about sharks? We are going to the aquarium tomorrow for our trip, so I need to know anything that's anything to know about sharks!"

Megumi nodded and even though his face was blank, I could see in his eyes that he was excited.

Once he was done, I clapped my hands three times and called the class back into our classroom for nap time.

All twelve of the children paired up and I escorted them back in, telling Yuji and Megumi in particular to go to the bathroom before nap time as they sometimes wet the mats.

But then again they were only four years old and still learning.

And Megumi only wet the bed if he had a nightmare of sorts.

Sukuna followed us as I instructed my teacher's aid to get the class settled down.

I waited outside the bathroom and made sure they washed their hands then tucked them into their designated sleeping mats.

Once they were all asleep, I sat down with my TA, Gojo Satoru.

He and I were grading the tests the children took earlier in the day.

"It seems that Tobio isn't doing so well in the math unit," he said with a frown. "But whenever there's food involved, he seems to understand it."

I nodded in agreement. "Him and Shoyo. But on the other hand, Kei and Megumi seem to excel in the curriculum."

"Yes, I agree. I think we should hold a parent-teacher conference for all four boys. I'll deliver the bad news." Satoru put the tests away and looked over our schedule. "I think we should schedule the meeting to be on Monday since we're taking the kids to the aquarium tomorrow which is a Friday."

"Sounds like a plan." I gave Satoru an affection pat on the head as I stood up. "Mind watching them for a bit? They all did exceptionally well on the geography test-even Shoyo and Tobio."

"Of course." Satoru's blue eyes scanned mine for a bit. "But hurry back. You know what will happen if Megumi or Sukuna wake up and see you aren't here,"

I laughed quietly knowing how worried they both would get if I wasn't nearby.

It was absolutely adorable when I would sit down and the two would sit on either side of me, each glaring at each other to back off.

"I'll be quick. Thanks, Satoru." I left the classroom and closed the door very quietly and made my way to the cafeteria where my friend Yukihira Soma was preparing afternoon snacks for all the preschool classes.

"(y/n)! What a lovely surprise!"

"Sup, Soma! Listen, can you put sugar-free ice pops into our snack pail? The kids really deserve it

The redhead smiled. "Of course! Anything for you!"

"Thank you so much!"

He quickly put twelve ice pops in, giving me a knowing smile. "What flavor ice cream do you and Satoru want?"

"I'll take (flavor) and he likes the strawberry one."

Soma put them in the bucket and handed it to me. "There you go! Oh, can you drop this off at the other room? I'd go myself, but I'm afraid I have to organize the stock room before the late-stay kids realize."

"Certainly!" I got the other snack pail (which was full with pretzel bags) for the other class, waving goodbye to my friend.

I went down the halls and admired all the (sloppy) drawings of the four seasons that my class did.

On the opposite side of the wall, the children in Class 2 had drawings of animals on display.

It brightened up the otherwise gloomy hallways of the school.

I gently knocked on the door and my dear friend Todoroki Shoto opened, thanking me for getting his class's snack pail.

"Thanks, (y/n)! I'd love to talk more, but you know those kids," he gave a sheepish smile.

I laughed a bit. "Of course. I'll talk to you later."

He nodded and the door closed softly behind him and I went back to my classroom where poor Satoru was trying to comfort a crying Megumi.

I gave him the snack pail and went to tend to Megumi.

"It was a nightmare!" He cried to me as I took him out to the hallway so the others could sleep.

I knelt down to his level. "What happened?"

"You were hurt! And I couldn't do anything! And you died!"

I wiped his tears gently with my thumb. "Oh Megumi...dear, I'm perfectly fine. See? I'm right here."

"I know, but I was so scared! Then I woke up and you weren't in the classroom..."

He hugged me tightly, his sobs getting louder.

I ran fingers through his hair in a comforting manner. "Deep breaths, Megumi. Everything is okay. I'm right here."

He eventually calmed down and fell asleep in my arms.

I picked him up and looked at the time.

Nap time would be done in twenty minutes but the poor boy needed sleep.

I tucked him in again and made sure his little shark toy was in his arms as he hugged it tightly.

Satoru shook his head as I took my seat next to him. "I have to give it to him. That kid's been through a lot and he's a strong boy."

"Yeah..." I thought about his father, Fushiguro Toji. "I think I'll talk to Mr. Fushiguro about Megumi. I know firsthand that Mr. Fushiguro is a strict man and I want to make sure Megumi is fine and that he's getting everything he needs."

Satoru rested his hand on my shoulder in a comforting manner. "I'm sure it's fine. But your empathy is admirable, (y/n)."

"Thank you, Satoru. Now let's enjoy this peace and quiet before the children wake up again."
