Chapter 2
I woke up and strangely, I felt the pain was no more. "That's odd..." I said to myself out loud, which I immediately regretted.
"Quite strange, isn't it?" A distorted voice came out from nowhere. I gasped and tried to find whoever spoke. But what I found shocked me.
It wasn't the same room anymore and it looks like I'm not in the prison.
It looks like a crystal cave or something.
I started to wander around, still shocked at the changed scenery, as I stumbled on to something. I slowly got up to my feet, scratching my head, and looked at the item. "What is this?" I picked it up and started to examine it. From what I can tell, this looks like a worthless item.
The distorted voice suddenly laughed. "Please tell me you don't know anything anymore!" It's laughter echoed through the crystal cave. I held it tightly and looked around.
"I know something! Just show yourself!" I acted brave but deep down, I was scared.
"Your fake bravado isn't helping you, you know that..." It snickered. I just looked around the room. "And I won't. But you'll see me near future though!" I swear I imagine it smiling when it said those words.
"Where am I?" I asked the voiced.
"...Some place you don't want to know..." It answered my question.
"..." I looked down to the item. "Fine, then what's this?"
"A medallion, the key to freedom!" It finally gave me a useful information! The medallion has six rings on it. The center having the smallest silver ring, the fourth silver ring that is the largest silver ring, the second to the last gold ring, and the last gold ring which is the largest of them all . The silver rings, though, have some weird signs on them. North, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest. On the four silver rings, there's a box like thing on the north part. "Solve its puzzle, then you will finally be able to see sunlight again!"
"Sunlight... what do you mean by that?" I mentally faced palmed myself. I'm stuck in this crystal cave or whatever, wanting to see the sunlight again, yet I asked this question.
"You'll soon know..." The distorted voice said. This is the time I got confused. I thought it's going to laugh at my stupidity, but no, it sounded like it's hiding something from me. From now on, I have to be careful. "Here, I'll give you this. Don't think I'll be helping you though!" It said with a hint of mischievousness.
A small pocket bag came into my view as I picked it up. It was a perfect fit for the medallion. I hid the bag on one of the pockets of my pants. "Thanks err..."
"I have no name...." It said sadly, "Do you...?"
"Well my name is..." I... don't.... know...? How come I don't know?! I started panicking. The distorted voice just laughed,
"You forgot your own name, too, huh?"
"...Yeah, I guess..." I sighed. Then there goes the exact pain I felt around my head. Luckily, I didn't scream loudly. But the pain was too much to handle... Exact same scenario, I let the darkness swallow me once again.
'Ruin of the Heart...'
~xXx~
I once again woke up from the unexpected events. I looked around to see that I'm in my cell room again. What happened? I looked around to see a tray filled with food in front of me. It looks disgusting that I suddenly lost the desire to eat. Then a guard went in front of me, I couldn't tell if this is the exact same guard or not.
"Look at this lowlife with Agoraphobia, pathetic..." The guard snickered in front of me. I have to sudden urge to punch whoever this guy is. But I'll be in trouble if I do that. He placed the shackles back at their original position, around my wrists. "Now eat up!" He finally left me alone, locking me up in this cursed room.
I sighed at his rudeness for some apparent reasons. I don't understand why I hated him so much, but he kind of reminds me of one person though. I can't recall anything... Why won't I remember anything?!
'It's a fake! Don't follow it!'
I snapped back on my thoughts, what was happening? I keep getting those kinds of things... Wait, does that mean?! I tried to find the pocket bag I hid in my pocket. Luckily, it was still there. I sighed and grabbed the medallion. Once again, I examined it.
"Key to Freedom... Why do I have a strange feeling that I don't like the sound of that? Shouldn't I be happy?" I said to myself. I'm glad that I'm the only one here. I turned one of the silver rings by the gears under the medallion. The ring turned and stopped when it reaches another figure.
I was engross in identifying on how to use this that I suddenly found myself starving for food. I sighed in disappointment when I looked at the tray filled with disgusting food. "Eat that thing or suffer from starvation..." I muttered.
I wish that I'll be out of this place. To see the sunlight again...
If you're playing the game, Thief, then you are familiar with the medallion? It's the exact same medallion since I can't think of any designs.
