~(Y/n)'s POV~
I walked through the dimly lit streets, making my way to where I'm supposed to meet Douse.
"I wonder if she'll want to see a movie after...?" I contemplated on multiple different places I could take her after this. "Mini Golf, maybe?"
Before I knew it, I was already at the cliff where we watched the stars the other night. I sat down on the bench that faced the cliff, and waited for Douse to arrive.
"Ice cream...?" I shook my head. "No, she doesn't like cold stuff, since it makes her powers all messed up. Then maybe fried dough...? Wait, she's dieting. Then how about..."
Suddenly, I heard footsteps approach from behind me. I turned around and saw Douse walking up to me.
"Hey!" I stood up, and walked over to Douse. We greeted each other with a hug.
"Hey, sorry I'm a little late, I got a little tied up."
"Don't worry about it, I only just got here a few minutes ago anyways."
She smiled. "Glad to hear."
The wind slightly picked up, and Douse shivered.
"Oh, here. You can take my jacket. Not like I really need it that much anyways." I took off my jacket, and put it over her shoulders.
"Thanks." She took my hand, and led me over to the bench.
We sat down, and she put her head on my shoulder.
We watched as a few stars flew by. Recently, for some unknown reason, there have been a lot more shooting star sightings. Oh well, it just makes for a great view.
"Hey...Ignite?" I looked down at Douse, and she was looking up at me, a blush brushed across her face. "Do you mind if we...kiss like last time?"
I smiled, I'm sure I looked like an idiot, but I nodded. We leaned in, and our lips met.
Suddenly, the wind became even more intense. Enough that it was physically pushing me.
"What...the...?"
I got up, and looked around slowly.
Then, I heard clapping. Wait, clapping? Who would be clapping?
"What a touching moment."
I looked behind me, and then I saw him. Floating at the end of the cliff.
Zephyr.
"Wow, such a lovely night." Zephyr touched down gently on the grass. "But, I'm afraid I'm going to have to spoil this...lovely moment.."
"What the hell are you talking about? Wait, better question, why are you even here?" I asked
"I'll get to that, I'll get to that." Zephyr had a wicked smile across his face. What's wrong with him? Did something happen to him? "But first..."
He threw a strong force of wind at me, knocking me backwards, back onto the bench.
"Sit right there, and don't you dare move."
He walked towards us, and stopped next to Douse, smiling down at her. Douse looked up at him, and I could see the concern on her-
Wait a minute.
Why is she...smiling?
She's...not concerned?
"Finally!" Douse said, while she took my jacket off, and threw it over my head.
When it fell off my face, she was standing there, in Zephyr's embrace. She smiled, hugging his side.
"Wait....What the fuck?" I barely managed to say the words, since I was choking back tears. There's no way...right?
"Ugh, are you really that stupid that you haven't figured it out yet?" Zephyr asked.
"Ugh, fine. I guess we'll have to spell it out for you." Douse rolled her eyes, then wrapped her arms around Zephyr's neck, pulling him closer until their lips met. When they did, Douse inserted her tongue right away.
I sat there, frozen in shock.
"No...way..." I choked out. "Stop...please..."
Slowly, I felt the sadness being overcome by anger. I felt my body temperature rising at an alarming rate.
"I..." I slowly stood up. Zephyr noticed, and threw another burst of wind at me.
My head was thrown back from the blast.
"Said..." I raised my head, and took a step towards them.
"Huh...?" Zephyr broke the kiss off, and looked at me. "H-Hey...how is he still standing...? That blast should've been strong enough to push him down!"
"I-It's fine! Just use a stronger one this time!" Douse said.
"R-Right!" Zephyr grabbed his right elbow with his left hand, and stuck his right arm straight at me. "Air...Cannon!"
A strong blast of air hit me, causing me to take a step back.
I stand my ground and try to walk closer towards them, but the wind is too strong for that.
...Fine. I don't need to be close to you.
"Right, now that he can't move, where were we?" Douse asked.
She jumped onto him, and wrapped her legs around his waist.
"I SAID STOOOOOOP!" My body temperature skyrocketed, thus turning me into a human flame.
"I-I didn't know he could do that!" Zephyr yelled.
"You think I did?!" Douse yelled back.
"You dated him for a year!"
"So?! He's never done something like THIS! I mean LOOK AT HIM!"
"So..." I spoke. They flinched, and slowly turned their head towards me.
"Then all those pictures...all those reports about you two..." I looked at them. "How long...has this been going on?"
Depending on the answer, I might get even angrier.
"O-Only...a week?" Douse skeptically said.
I glared at her. "What kind of sorry ass lie is that, huh?!" I felt myself growing hotter and hotter, and the flames around me grew bigger and bigger.
I felt tears well up in my eyes, but they quickly evaporated away.
"Why...?" I asked. "Why did you do this to me?" I looked Douse in the eyes. "I loved you! But you betrayed me, and like this?! Why?! What did I do?!"
Douse stood there, silent.
"Fuck this! It's two of us, and one of him!" Zephyr yelled. "There's no reason we can't kick his ass!"
"...You're right. Anyways, I have water powers. I'll drench him and put his candle out." Douse finally spoke.
"So...that's how it is..." I sigh, trying my best to put my feelings behind me for now. Right now, I just have to focus on beating these two and getting out of here.
I took a deep breath, an-
I got thrown backwards into the wall of stone behind me.
I slowly stood up, my arms hanging by my side. Then, I cracked a smile.
"If that's how it's gonna be, then I won't hold back either."
I raised my arms, and sparked a flame in between my palms, then slowly started growing it.
"Is this...a new move?" Douse asked. "I-It has to be...I've never seen him do something like this..."
"His power...is truly terrifying..." Zephyr let out a shaky breath.
The flame had grown so huge, that it might as well have been day. The huge flame ball formed a face with an evil grin, and small horns popped up at the top.
"Done..." I glared at them. "Now! Devil...Incarnate!" Then, I threw the huge mass of fire straight at them.
"Shit!" Douse yelled.
"I guess you could say you're...cooked."
The attack inched closer and closer towards them. Then, it started to suddenly slow down.
"Hm...?"
"Water Typhoon!" Two voices called out.
My Devil Incarnate attack was thrown into the sky, and exploded, sparks flying down between us.
"I'll admit Ignite, you're strong. But, no matter how strong you are, there's no way you'll be able to take both of us down." Zephyr cackled. "It's hopeless for you!"
"Is that right?" I lit my body aflame once more, but this time, centered it into the center of my stomach. "Now...Flaming Torpedo!" A beam of flames shot out of my stomach straight at them.
They jumped away from each other, avoiding the blast.
"Stay back, Douse! I'll handle this, just give me support!"
"Ugh, you know I hate being told what to do!"
Douse ran back towards the cliff edge, and then faced me. "Water Cocoon."
A layer of water plastered itself onto Douse and Zephyr.
"There, now both of us should have a higher resistance to attacks." Douse explained.
"Perfect." Zephyr smiled.
"A lot of confidence for someone who is weaker than me." I yawned.
We stand there, staring each other down. Then, we start running at each other. Both of us pull our fists back, and let them fly at each other, our fists colliding with each other. I kicked at his legs, but he jumped over my leg, and kicked the side of my head with a leg backed by strong gusts of wind, sending me flying a few feet.
I slowly stand up, and charge at him again. He throws another kick at me, but I duck under his leg, then grab it. I spun in circles, then threw him off the side of the cliff. He stopped himself after a while of being flung through the air.
I took off towards Douse, and quickly reached her. I pulled my arm back, getting another fire blast ready. Right when I'm about to strike, Zephyr's foot saves her from my hit.
"Fine! I'll use it on you instead!" I pull back again, and this time, aim for Zephyr's stomach.
"Shit! No time!" Zephyr hastily looked around, but it was too late.
My fist collided with his stomach, and threw him straight into the air, a blast of fire enveloping his entire front side.
"Zeph!" Douse screamed.
He reached me again, and I caught his arm in midair. Then, I slammed him onto the ground, leaving a hole under his body.
"No!" Douse ran to Zephyr, and fell to her knees. "Zeph...Zeph!"
"Your turn."
I took a step closer to Douse. She looked up at me in fear, and frantically crawled backwards.
"W-Wait! Please!" Douse started to beg me. "I'm sorry! He forced me to do it! He said he'd kill me! He-"
"Shut the fuck up."
She stopped talking. Tears streamed down her face.
"All upset since your little plan didn't work, huh?" I crouched down. "Look at me."
She hesitantly raised her head, and looked me in the eyes.
"You did this to yourself. All I ever did was love you, and try to give the world to you. Instead? You spit on that love. I spent a year of my life with you, was it all just a lie?!"
"I-I..." Douse stuttered.
"I'm sick of this. I'm finishing this so I can go home and think."
"Towering Tornado!"
"Shit! I got distracted!" I turned around, and was met by a huge tornado. I was thrown up into the sky, cuts from the wind in the tornado covering my body.
"And Wind Slash Barrage!"
Multiple sharp blades of wind cut into my body, and I crashed into the ground. I coughed up blood on the impact.
"Tsunami!" Douse yelled, hitting me with a huge tidal wave of water.
When the water cleared, I could barely move.
"Heh...heh heh..." Zephyr forced out a chuckle, and limped his way over to me. "See...I told you, didn't I? You have no chance of beating both of us."
"Piece...of shit..." I croaked.
His arrogant smile became a frown, and he kicked me in the side.
"Huh? What'd you say?! I couldn't hear you on the ground!" He repeatedly kicked me. My side, my head, he even stomped on my stomach.
Zephyr looked towards the cliff. "There's only one way...to make sure he doesn't speak about what happened here."
"What?! Killing him wasn't part of it!" Douse retaliated.
My eyes widened.
"What did you expect?! We just exposed that we've had a relationship while you two were dating! Do you really think that if this got out that you would be held in the same light?!"
She froze, then moved her eyes to my body. She closed her eyes and clenched her teeth. "...Fine."
"St-" I felt another kick to the side of my face.
"Shut up!" Zephyr spit on my cheek. "Grab his arm."
They both grabbed my arms, and dragged me over to the cliff.
"You asked earlier why I was doing this, and what the reason I betrayed you for was, right?" Douse said.
I look at her, blood pouring down my face.
"All you ever did...was make me worry."
My eyes shifted towards Douse.
"Whenever you fought...you fought without a care in the world. Like there was nothing to lose." Douse explained. "You fought like an immature little kid. Eventually, I started growing tired of that immaturity. I wanted someone who I knew would always be able to come back, because they would fight like an adult, and know when they've met their match. They won't leave me as worried as you always do. I don't want to constantly worry about whether you're alive or not!" She looked at Zephyr. "Zephyr...he isn't like that. He fights safely. He usually keeps his distance, and he never puts his body on the line. But you...you almost had your leg shot off by a psychotic freak who is obsessed with you!"
"Enough talking." Zephyr grabbed my face, and forced me to look at him. "You have no clue how much I've been looking forward to this Ignite. You don't deserve to be the Number One Hero in Wellview. I'd be much better suited for it than you." He hissed at me.
"Hehe..."
"Huh? The hell are you laughing at?"
"Such a selfish person...would never succeed as the Number One Hero."
Zephyr looked like he was going to get angry for a minute, but then he smiled. "You know, I'm so happy I'll never have to listen to your voice again. See you in Hell, Ignite."
Then, he pushed me off the cliff.
'Shit. Am I gonna die when I hit the bottom? Is this really it?"
I slam into rocks sticking out of the cliffs face, and then eventually slam into the ground.
I laid at the bottom of the cliff, my eyes covered in blood, and my vision stained with red. I started coughing, and a slight sting started to form in my chest.
"It hurts..." I put my hand over my chest. Is this what heartbreak feels like?
I cough into my hand, and feel something wet hit it. Blood...?
Then, out of nowhere, an intense wave of nausea hit me, and I rolled over, and began violently puking. I felt it pool around my hands, and my mouth tasted like blood. I guess I'm puking up blood then?
"AAAAAGH!" I screamed in agony, as the stinging grew into an overwhelming pain. It felt like I was being repeatedly stabbed. I began to puke up more blood, with normal puke mixed in.
"I...can't breathe..." I put my arms around my throat. "What's...happening..."
Another sharp jolt of pain was sent through my body.
I screamed.
I screamed until my throat ran dry. Until it hurts to scream.
I felt tears running down my face, then collapsed to the ground. I laid there, face first in my own vomit and blood.
My vision began to darken, and then I heard footsteps coming closer.
I tried to look around, but I couldn't move. A foot wearing a black boot stopped in front of me.
"Well, what do we have here?"
'Who...is it?'
"It would be a waste to let you die here. Don't you worry, we'll get you fixed up."
Then, my vision faded to black.
~Time Skip~
I slowly stirred awake to a constant, rhythmic beeping. My eyes are blinded by the light in the room, and I put my arms up to block my eyes. Once they've adjusted, I look out the window to the left of me.
"It's still night..." I whispered. "Wait...what day is it? Where am I?"
I looked to my right, and saw a heart monitor next to me.
"The hospital? How did I end up here?"
Then, next to that heart monitor...
"Huh?! Levia?!" I shouted.
"Will you keep your voice down?! You're in a hospital!"
"But...you just yelled."
A moment of realization struck her, and her face grew pink.
"Shut up! Idiot!" She stood up, and walked around the bed, then looked out the window.
"Wait, why are you even here anyways?" I asked.
"It's a hospital. I'm a healing hero. It kind of goes hand in hand that I'd volunteer some time here. Also, it's only been a few hours since you were brought in. You were lucky someone found you when they did, or else you would've died."
"Yeah, that makes sense. But why are you here with me?" I made sure I was more clear this time. "And who brought me in?"
"When the nurses rushed you in, you were obviously on the brink of death. I'm a hero, I'm not just going to stand by and watch a civilian die. As for who brought you in, we don't know. You were found laying outside of the hospital doors by a nurse." She turned towards me. "Speaking of civilians though, those injuries were quite severe. What the hell happened to you? You are a civilian aren't you?" Levia asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah. Of course. There's no way I could be a hero, my powers aren't anywhere close to being strong enough."
"...Right. Anyways, I'm almost done healing you, but I needed you awake for it."
"Huh? Why?"
"Your eyes have multiple popped veins. If I don't treat it, it could become dangerous." She explained.
She turned towards me, and walked over to the side of my bed again. Then, she put her hand over my eyes. She muttered something, then I felt a pleasant warmth spread throughout my body.
"It feels...so nice." I let out a long sigh.
"D-Don't say such embarrassing things! Geez..."
She moved her hand away from my eyes, and turned around.
"Now then, my work here is done." She began to walk away, but stopped and turned around. "Be safe out there, and don't get into too much trouble, or else you'll have to see me again. The motto is the less you see me, the better it is, since you won't need to be healed."
"If getting hurt means you're the one that'll come to heal me, then it doesn't seem so bad." I smiled.
Her entire face behind her mask became a dark red.
"I-I thought I told you not to say such embarrassing things!" Levia complained, before storming out of my hospital room.
I smiled after her. Then, after a few seconds, that smile devolved into a frown.
I looked at my hands.
Why isn't there...any warmth?
