An Explosive Encounter
~(Y/n)'s POV~
It's been a few weeks since the day me and Cass made up. She's still shaken up about the fact that she almost died, and had insisted on staying with me for a few nights. She'd be safe at home, considering she has two brothers for heroes, even if she doesn't know it, but I wasn't going to argue with a girl that was on the verge of tears.
...Why does it seem like my house is becoming a shelter?
Either way, she decided to go back home last week.
In the past few weeks, I've caught up on the classes I missed when hospitalized. I've also hung out with Willow a few times, though it was mostly just her rambling about weapons and her crush while we played video games. I've also taken the lives of a handful of villains that were terrorizing the city, though I've stuck to just letting them suffocate, the head popping gave me nightmares. I've become somewhat used to it at this point. Of course nobody knows about it.
"Hey, (Y/n)? You seem a little...different." May voiced her concerns from beside me.
"Hm? Do you think so?" I asked, not taking my eyes off the news.
"Maybe I'm just imagining it, but you seem so...distant." She grabbed my arm, and tugged on it to get my attention. "You're okay...right?"
I gave her a smile. "I'm just fine."
"You promise?"
"Yeah...I promise."
"Then...can we go get some ice cream?"
I groaned. "Is that what all that was about?"
"What? No! I really was worried about you...but I also want ice cream." She stared into my eyes, giving me a pleading look.
"Fine, we can go get ice cream."
"Hey! Don't encourage her! She needs to be studying!" Winter scolded me from the other side of May.
"Awwww, boooooo!"
"I knew it'd be a bad idea coming here to study..."
"In other news, Zephyr has taken the number one hero spot in Wellview City after the hero Ignite has seemingly gone missing. Some villains have noticed the flame hero went missing, and the crime rate has grown significantly. Although Zephyr is doing a great job in suppressing these villains, some can't help but wonder: Where is Ignite?"
Winter shot me a look, and I coughed. "Uh, that's enough news for today." I turned the TV off, and stood up. "So, how about that ice cream?"
May shot up, practically jumping up and down, while Winter rolled her eyes, but got ready to go anyway.
"Let's at least be quick, May really needs to study. Do you know how hard it is teaching someone almost fifteen years worth of school?"
"Can't say that I do, let's go."
We walked out, and began walking to a place to get ice cream.
~Zephyr's POV~
"Hey, Zach, what's wrong?" My girlfriend, Stacy, asked me.
"Nothing, I'm just really stressed out. With all these villains popping up, I've barely had any time to relax. Do they really take me that lightly?" I groaned, and put my head in my hands. "I'm stronger than that scum Ignite, so why do they think it's so much safer to be a villain now?"
Stacy grabbed my head, and laid it in her lap, scratching my head. "It's okay. You'll show them how much stronger you are than him. They'll regret underestimating you, you'll show them why they should stay in hiding."
"...Yeah. You're right."
I rolled my eyes. 'She's so clingy... Whatever, I already got a taste of her, and the villains are starting to get out of control. There's even those crazy bastards Raijū and Radiance, and some new psycho suffocating criminals. I even took down that annoying bastard Ignite. What else is there for me to do in this city?...Is there a reason to stay here anymore?'
~(Y/n)'s POV~
Winter, May and I were all enjoying our ice cream. Winter got vanilla, while May got strawberry. I got chocolate for myself.
"Ice cream's the best..." May sighed.
"She's like a child..." That's what Winter said, but she was smiling.
"You say that like you didn't inhale your ice cream the moment we sat down."
Winter's face flared, and she reached across the table to grab my shirt, but I swiftly dodged.
"And what's so wrong with that?! I can't like ice cream?!"
"Want some more?" I pushed the rest of my ice cream over to her.
"She looked at the ice cream and then at me. "Is this some sort of trick?"
"Why would this be a trick? I'm just full."
She stared at the ice cream, and slowly took a bite of it.
"Maybe it'll help you cool down. Your face was a little red-"
She threw her spoon at me.
"I KNEW IT!"
I couldn't help but laugh while wiping the chocolate from the spoon off my shirt.
"Whatever. Let's go." Winter stood up, but a sudden rumbling had her fall back in her seat.
"What was that?!" May asked, holding onto my arm.
"An earthquake?!" Winter yelled.
Another rumbling happened, but this time it was accompanied by a loud blast.
After getting May to let go of me, I ran outside and looked towards where the blast came from.
"WHERE IS HE?!" A familiar female face called out. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO IGNITE?!"
Oh shit.
"Bring me Ignite!" Another explosion sounded.
"Why'd it have to be Armory..." I whispered
"Ignite! Aren't you gonna come stop me?!" Her voice sounded hoarse and it was breaking. "Missing?! YOU?! That's not the Ignite I fell in love with! Get the hell out here!"
Her cheeks were stained with makeup streaks.
"What's the point in doing all of this if you aren't going to come stop me?!" She choked up. "Come on! ...Where are you? You aren't the type to run away...so why won't you come stop me?"
A strong burst of wind blasted through the air. This day just keeps getting better...
Zephyr descended down, and landed in front of Armory.
"Ugh, did you really need to cause such a commotion? Don't you know how much I've been working these days?!"
Armory stared at him, before becoming enraged.
"I didn't ask for you! I want Ignite! Where is he?! You know him, so get him to come stop me!"
"Jeez, you're so loud, you know that?" Zephyr started picking his ear. "That pathetic loser probably ran off somewhere because he couldn't handle the life of being a hero. He's probably cowering in his house somewhere or something, hoping no villain he's pissed off goes to kill him."
Armory was visibly shaking. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW?!" She pulled a rocket launcher out of thin air, and pointed it at Zephyr. "You'll never be half the hero he was!"
Armory shot the rocket at him, and Zephyr sighed. He flicked his wrist upwards, and a strong wind force threw the rocket up. Then, a blast of water shot the rocket, causing it to blow up midair, saving any bystanders from harm.
"How dare you try to hurt my boyfriend's beautiful face!"
Kill me. Just kill me.
"Boyfriend?! Aren't you that bitch that's dating Ignite?!"
"Ignite? I'm over that loser. I mean, what kind of person just disappears and leaves their girlfriend behind without saying a word? Pretty pathetic, honestly."
"...Shut up."
"Huh? What'd you say?" Douse asked, leaning forward.
"Shut up!" Armory pulled grenades out of thin air, and started throwing a barrage of them. "SHut up! Shut up! Shut up!"
Zephyr made light work of the grenades with his wind magic, sending them flying a safe distance away before they blew up...I think.
"Ugh, how childish. Throwing a tantrum when you can't handle the truth. Face it, Ignite was a boy pretending to play hero. Zephyr is better than him in every possible way."
Armory grew silent, then started to laugh.
"Ha...HAHAHAHAH!" She bent over, clutching her stomach. After a moment, she composed herself, letting a few more chickles slip through. "Oh, wow. I needed that."
Douse and Zephyr looked at each other, then back at Armory.
"What's so funny?" Douse looked especially confused. "Did I say something funny?"
"No, you just finally confirmed something for me, that's all." She wiped her eyes. "You're a stupid bitch. I mean, really? How much of a whore are you? Beyond that how the FUCK do you trade in that hot, fiery piece of a man for that...that...blowhard windbag?! It's so fucking funny! You literally downgraded in every category!" Armory turned to Zephyr. "Let's get this straight, okay? You are nothing compared to Ignite. Ignite was the sexiest man on the planet, you? You're like...a five? Tops. You're nowhere near as strong as Ignite. Honestly, you're pretty repulsive. Seeing you is actually making me physically upset. Can you like, go away...or something? I think I'm going to vomit if I have to stare at you for much longer."
Winter and I were trying our best to hold in our laughter. I leaned against a wall, banging my fist on it.
Douse and Zephyr, however, didn't take it as great as we did. In fact, when we looked back over, Armory was already on the ground, barely able to move.
"What...did you do..."
"Strong wind is blowing directly down, forcing you to the ground." Zephyr started walking up to her, and crouched down in front of her, then grabbed her face, forcing her to look at him. "Say what you said earlier again. I dare yo-"
Armory spit on his face. "You ugly pig, who said you get to touch me? Only Ignite is allowed to touch my face, do you understan-" Douse kicked her in the side of the head.
Zephyr wiped his face, and looked like he was going to do much worse to Armory than he already has.
I felt something hit my foot, and when I looked down, a grenade was at my feet.
I bent over, picked it up, and examined it. Then, an idea came to me. They deserve it...right?
"What was it Willow said again...?"
~Flashback~
"To use a grenade, all you have to do is grip it, twist and pull the pin, and then...
~Flashback End~
I threw the live grenade straight at Douse and Zephyr.
May's jaw dropped, and Winter had a somewhat jealous look on her face. Almost like she wanted to be the one to throw the grenade at them.
I watched as it bounced towards them, when they finally noticed.
"Oh shi-!"
A loud blast sounded, and I grabbed May and Winter's hands and booked it in the opposite direction.
"(Y/n)! Why'd you do that?!"
"I don't know, I don't know, I don't know! Just run! I don't know!"
May stopped questioning me, and we kept running away from the scene.
~Armory's POV~
My head was spinning from getting kicked, but my vision started to slowly clear. Behind Douse and Zephyr, I could see a familiar figure winding up like he was about to throw something.
"Is that...(Y/n)...?" I muttered
Next thing I knew, a huge blast sent me flying backwards until I finally rolled to a stop.
I slowly stood up and looked around. Zephyr and Douse were both nowhere to be seen, but there's no way that actually killed them.
I ran away, trying to find an alley to lay low in. When I finally found one, I leaned against a wall, and slid down to the ground.
"(Y/n)...why'd you save me..." I put my hands over my face, and sighed. "You didn't even know it was me...so why? Why put yourself in so much danger?"
I played what happened back in my head over and over, trying to piece together what had just happened.
"Ignite...if you're really gone...would it be so wrong to fall for someone else. Does that make me like that dirty water bitch?"
I couldn't get the image of (Y/n) out of my mind.
"(Y/n)..."
